I had an issue today with the ATM at the First Bank on Patton Ave. It was a pretty major issue. I was pretty upset in the beginning due to this amount of money that was involved. I had no less than three folks in the local branch talk to me about it and look for a solution. The Branch Manager Scott Burgess handled the situation with them utmost professionalism and true compassion for the customerIt took a while to resolve the ATM situation due to other vendors having to handle the ATM. But all the way through. I had the total assurance from Mr Burgess that I would be taking care of. He definitely took a lot of his time and followed through all along the way to taking care of me the customer. I would highly recommend First Bank and and all the folks working within. The ATM situation was basically a jamming issue. Unfortunately with all banks it can be pretty common with the bills that we insert or how we insert them.Once again though I highly recommend Mr Burgess and First Bank

This bank manipulated my deposits so that they would not go through before my debits, even if I made a cash deposit! Their online system is not accurate so it was impossible to see what was going on. Customer service was HORRIBLE and would refuse to remove the arbitrary overdraft charges. The local branch manager would remove them because she could never figure out why I had so many overdraft charges Stay away from this bank.

I had a account with this bank and Asheville savings for yearsAfter I changed jobs did not do direct deposit they changed service fees before I could close account was charged overdraft fee for insurance that I did not know I purchased life insurance. Very poor customer service. I will never bank with these people again. The location on merrimon ave is worse. I advise no one to bank with them . I am waiting on the insurance company to mail me this policy. That I bought. Lol

I definitely wouldn’t recommend First bank to anyone, my girlfriend got hack in her account while was traveling they took more than 5 thousand dollars, not even a notification by email or call of suspicious activity. they didn't help at all the manager in patton Ave Asheville was not friendly at all. Called the district manager they didn’t call back. In our experience I don’t want this to happen to anyone. We were saving money with a lot of sacrifice and they took it away. Don’t use FIRST BANK for nothing in the world take care of your money.

Had a small fluke in my account. Placed a stop payment, payed the fee. But it still took money out! After speaking with the wonderful and kind Allison, we were able to make it so I got the fee back. Thank you!

Disappointing. High and many fees, not charged by my previous bank. These folks took over and started implementing fees, with late notice coming after the fees!Asked manager and she was super rude.

I have been a customer of First Bank for eight years. During Covid my company received no government help. My company supports eight families. Turning jobs over was problematic due to Covid. Many times we would go in the rears. Each time we would get hit with an individual check fee and an overdraft fee to the tune of 150 to 200 dollars a day. In the course of the year First Bank hit me with over 18,000 in charges and never gave me a time. When the account was overdrawn on consecutive days they closed it. I still have a personal account. My vendor wrote a check in error to the business. I tried to get FB to take out the 1500 or so to get the account positive and deposit the other 6000. They said no. Yet a week later I had an inadvertent wire hit the closed account for 1616.40 and they opened it back up to take my money. First Bank does not help businesses and families that need them in crisis. It was much better when it was Asheville savings. The employees here are very nice, but the customer service is horrible, meaning that if your debit card gets compromised you're lucky if you get another one sent to you within a reasonable time frame. It's been 2 weeks and I have yet to get mine. The online banking app never works and I can't log in anymore. The number you call to check your account doesn't work either and says I have no log in info with them. I've been a customer for 20 years.. the same thing happens with my mother when she tries to check her account and she's had an account here for longer than I have. I'm about fed up with this place.

I hate leaving bad reviews, but yea. As others have said, First Bank's online banking system is a mess, and their customer service is clueless about how to fix glitches. I was trying to do something as simple as using the down arrow to download my statements, and the file was invalid. They should have gone out of their way to understand and fix the problem through their system, but every single person I spoke with had no understanding of how to help, or even what I was talking about. Wow. Time for another bank.
