The staff here are professional, kind, knowledgeable and helpful. The office is in a great location, clean and neat. Thank you John, Sheila, Dr. Patel and Ralph. I would recommend this business.

First of all, I’m a nurse and very understanding, I NEVER complain and have never written a negative review. I am embarrassed for people that stand there and complain at the desk but OMG!! I scheduled an appointment on line Thursday evening and Friday morning I received a call asking me to sign a release of information from previous exam ( I forgot to do this). I tried to call Saturday morning and got the after hours number, I couldn’t get through. When I arrived the young lady told me that they could not see me without my prior records… Why? What if I had never had an eye exam before, can they not perform their own tests? Apparently not! I had explained to the lady who called me Friday that I needed a thorough eye exam because I was diabetic and needed to be tested for retinopathy. She assured me they could do the testing I needed. Upon arrival Saturday I was told they would not do the exam without my prior records because they could only dilate my eyes, they didn’t have the “machines” needed to perform the testing for diabetes?. She said they had tried to call me several times to remind me the day before but I had no missed calls or messages on my phone. If I had it would have been my fault, but don’t lie to me. Did I just pay someone to come to my house to take care of my handicapped child and drive 40 minutes because I was mislead into believing they could do a thorough exam for diabetes? Yes, that really just happened. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU WANT YOUR EYE HEALTH REALLY TESTED. I think they type up the results from the previous exam. How else would they know what to put if they can only dilate your eyes, they don’t have the “machines” needed for testing. Her words, not mine. The man/assistant/doctor, Idk who he was but he came out and said yes that is correct. SAVE YOUR EYESIGHT, GO ANYWHERE ELSE!

First of all my son has been going to the office in Cary for years and they have been absolutely amazing. I scheduled an appt on line and they asked me to sign a form for release of records (I admit I forgot to do this). I explained to the lady that I could not see out of my glasses that I had from previous exam and that I had diabetes so I needed an exam for retinopathy. She said yes they could do a complete diabetic exam. The next morning I went in for my exam they said they wouldn't see me without my records. I asked what if I had never had an eye exam. She said they had tried to call me back and repeated they would not see me without my records. I showed her there were no missed calls or messages on my phone, these days you can't lie about that. Do they need my old exam because they can't really do their own? Apparently yes, she said they don't have the machines to do the exam for retinopathy! They can only dilate my eyes! I HAD EXPLAINED THAT I NEEDED A THOROUGH EXAM FOR DIABETES THE DAY BEFORE! I paid someone to come take care of my handicapped child, drove 40 minutes to this office and they didn't have my old exams to copy so they couldn't "perform" my exam. I am a nurse and I just don't understand, are they not able to do exams of their own? What if I had never had an exam before? If you have diabetes or want the health of your eyes tested, don't go here. As the girl said "they can only dilate your eyes, they don't have the machines to do the tests". I have NEVER complained about lack of service before or written a bad review. If I had forgotten to ask if they could do testing for retinopathy I would have said my bad and rescheduled my exam somewhere they could actually do the appropriate testing but don't mislead people into thinking you can provide a service when you can't. Eye health is important.

Dr. Patel and his team are the best! They're friendly, professional, and very conscientious of a patient's individual needs. They're also very efficient, and get you in and out within a reasonable amount of time, unlike some other practices. I was able to have a full exam and place an order for new glasses under an hour my last visit!

My wife and I have been going to Dr Patel and his staff since we moved to Apex from Colorado in 2007. He and his team have always been prompt, courteous, professional, and thorough. A couple of years ago. I completely lost my vision in one eye. I called Dr. Patel, and he recommended the emergency room to rule in/out possible second stroke. The results of retinal hemmorage are being followed by NC retina.

I had been going to this facility for last 3 years based on availability as this is nearest location for me. Things were fine till now. But this year it became horrible. Glasses both for me and my wife were messed up. For me, I was not able to read after getting my glasses, though it was supposed to be reading one. Reason was someone put wrong no in the order. Same issue for my wife. Reason given for her was not convincing. After trying twice, this didn't get resolved. As a professional they are supposed to know what kind of glasses needed for customer and provide proper suggestion. On top of that, all the staff members are rude. For normal talk they will be fine. As soon as you begin up the problem or some issue, they will start finding fault with you. So overall very bad experience. Not going there in future.

The guy(s) that check people out do not know how insurance works. What I was quoted before my exam and what my receipt states does not match. I was quoted a percentage off my contact lens exam and then an allowance which would be applied to my contacts (which was all true as confirmed with my insurance & the person who quoted me before my exam). The guy who checked me out did not apply any of this correctly, so I called back and talked to the a front desk person and they confirmed that he did it completely wrong. She had to fix his mistake and credit my money back to me. How is nobody on the same page and how could he not read insurance? I'm a little baffled. She did apologize for his mistake, but it was not her fault for quoting the correct amount & him messing everything up. He did seem like he did not want to be there & looked like he just woke up, and rushed through the whole check out process, he did not look up at once to ask if I had any questions...just quoted an amount and asked for a card. It seems like you have to stick with 1-2 people for check out who actually know what they are doing. Feel sorry for them.

I would not recommend this place, I really had a very bad experience. I am getting my eye exam from last 25 plus years. Never in the history it happened that I was hardly with dr for 2-3 minutes including detailed eye examination which lasted 10 seconds for both the eyes that too without dilate my eyes. You can image the quality of examination.

I've been going to Dr Patel and his team for years and have always been pleased with the exams and eyeglass/contact lens service. I have worked with a wonderful young man in the eyeglass fitting area in the Apex office a few times now and his customer service skills are fantastic. In March of this year, he took time to carefully go over my two insurance plans to make the most of them and get the best savings for two pairs of glasses, all while pleasantly chatting and answering questions. I was so impressed at his knowledge of insurance plans as well as prescriptions and the glasses themselves. I went into the office this week to get my prescription printed, to have on hand, and he took the time to explain how to read the prescription as well as explain the sizing (width/bridge/temple- never knew what this was!) of my current glasses, like no one else has ever done in 35 years of wearing glasses! I can't gush enough! A++ customer service!!

Dr. Patel and his team are fantastic. I've been going for a decade upon moving here from DC. Services are professional and staff is courteous. No pressure to buy in house or add on extras. I've not 1 not so amazing interaction here in 10 years [we're all human]. Staff in retail fitting area are accommodating and give best advice on insurance coverage for glasses vs contacts and what meets patient's needs. Additionally Patel remembers patients and treats you like family.

Made an appointment. Cancelled the next day. Made new appointment at another place. The day of my new appointment, they wouldn't take my insurance because (later explained) MyEyeDr didn't clear my insurance info from their system. Couldn't stay until they were able to call my insurance, so lost a day of work. I called MyEyeDr to ask why, the person who answered was dismissive & unapologetic. She even had the gall to tell my they didn't forget. If this is how they deal with future patients, how are they treating existing ones?!?
