I've been a customer since we first moved down to Apex (from Wisconsin) 25 years ago. I was at the office in downtown Raleigh and my wife called me from our house in Apex in a panic - she had a flat tire and she needed to get our daughter to her Dr's appointment at Duke. I asked someone in the office who I should call in Apex. A coworker said "call Holts." So I did and they drove to our home within 15 mins, fixed the flat on the spot, and charged my wife 6 bucks. Turned out to be the owner, Tim. We couldn't believe it. We've been loyal customers ever since then. They're EXTREMELY fair on their service fees and I've never gone to them with a repair they couldn't handle. Unfortunately, the owner of the property that they leased their service station from (Williams and Salem) for over 35 years, terminated their lease with only 2 weeks notice. It's now a bourbon and beer joint. It's hard to drive by there and not see the "Holt and Son's" sign above the bay doors. However, it gave them the chance to move into a nice new building out in New Hill. Just took my VW and Trailblazer out to them a few weeks ago and Tim did all the work, superbly. It would have cost me at least 4 times the amount at the dealer. If you ever need repairs, you won't find a more honest, awesome mechanic who charges unbelievably fair prices.

This is a really long review, but I have a lot to say about these folks. They are absolutely amazing.My family and I have been going to this place for over a decade now. This is a small family-owned business and has three people or less at the shop at any given time. They are honest, which is really refreshing, and they are also down to earth.I have never been treated with condescension, even a few years ago when I knew less than the bare minimum about cars. Any of them are willing to explain what is going on if you ask. The way their garage is currently set up, you have a clear view of what they are doing. You can ask to look at what they're doing if you want to.Unfortunately, there are some things that they are unable to do like alignments because the equipment is too expensive. However, they'll let you know if that's the case. If the service requires some kind of minor replacement, then you can buy the part and bring it in yourself. They'll tell you exactly what you need to buy.The owner, Tim, has offered to test drive my car to figure out what was wrong. He correctly diagnosed a problem that had not been caught by this other place I went to. They charged me a ton and fixed the wrong thing -- big mistake on my part not to consult Holt's first. They had moved to a new location farther away from my house so I went somewhere closer.The daughter has actually taken the time to reassure me over the phone a couple of times when I was pretty nervous about the state of my car. My sister trusts them so much that even when she moved multiple states away, she would get a second opinion on things whenever she was able to come over for a visit.About the location and property they're on: they used to be located in Apex but ended up having to move. The entrance to the shop is easy to miss. It's practically right off of the highway, and the path up leading to the shop is a long gravel road surrounded by trees. They have a sign up on the other side of the road now. The front desk and the shop are in the same building/room, and because the garage stays open by default, the temperature will be whatever it is outside. I think that you get a discount if you pay by cash, but the difference isn't that significant. These are very small tradeoffs for honest, reliable, and kind customer service.

Honest, down to earth, and very nice. Have never felt like I was being talked down to even when I didn't understand what was going on. Entire family has been going here for a long time. Have never been to an autoshop like this!
