We really enjoyed the elevated comfort food. The mussel appetizer had an excellent and unique broth and the Brussels sprouts tasted of fall. The salmon entree was excellent and also had a fall twist. The halibut special was phenomenal, well prepared and the tapenade sauce played well with fish and pasta. We ordered a pumpkin crème brûlée which continued the elevated fall theme- so good. Our cocktails were excellent also. Our server was exceptional. We haven't had that care and level of service in years. We will be back.

This was our first time at Peak on Salem—but definitely won't be the last. Friendly atmosphere, wonderful service, and excellent food. One standout was the crumble dessert, currently featuring cranberries!

The chef is wonderful. From the Shrimp Hush Puppy appetizer to the Short Rib with Mashed Potato's and fresh Green Beans. Our waiter, Owen did not miss a step. The hostess was welcoming and accommodating to our special seating request. No complaints. Lovely evening.

Decor and ambiance is great. Hostess was very nice. Bartender didn't show a lot of personality but provided good service. Waiter started out great, explaining specials, offering recommendations, but as the place got busier, he seemed to get in the weeds and would often excuse himself and walk off while we were trying to place an order. The food was fair overall. When it was good, it was brilliant. Lentils were mushy, not all dishes were as described by the waiter (one had a lot of curry and he didn't even mention that), cocktails were fine as long as you stayed within their specials, fish and scallops were cooked very well. Overall, meh. Very pricy for meh.

Service and food at Peak on Salem was impeccable. The staff was very friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, always ready to provide recommendations and accommodate our special requests for seating and my daughter's birthday. Their professionalism ensures a seamless dining experience, where every need was anticipated and met with a smile. Definitely try the Shrimp Hushpuppies!!

Great dinner for date night. Phillip was an awesome waiter. Very good with recommendations and quick responsive service. Chatted with Dave (the owner) while waiting on the wife to come out of the powder room. Everyone had a smile! Food was great.

Peak has an unidentifiable identity, average/confusing vibe, and hit or miss food. Decent place, but I don't understand the 4.5 avg review. Everything was fine, but 2-3/5 fine (except the apps) not 4.5/5 great. The apps - we got two (peak chips and Brussels) - were a mound of cheese and sugar on top of either chips or Brussel sprouts. Basically the same dish with over done (over salted, spiced, and sweetened) zero nutritional value slop. They should be taken off the menu - 0/5. Entrees (flank steak and short ribs) were borderline great. Wish we came and only ordered those. They deserve 4/5. They were slightly over seasoned, but otherwise excellent. Drinks - No wine list. That's a first for a “high end” restaurant (btw - is “peak” a bar? A high end restaurant? See vibe below). I would have spent another 100 if they had had one. Cocktails were average to below. 10.25 per seemed like a good deal but for the Smokey Old Fashion used Benchmark Bourbon ($8 dollars per 750ml from ABC, and off putting flavor IMO) so moved to an average quality bourbon (Woodford) took it to 17 - which put this drink into high end territory. Marshmellow mule was quite good, and since this was at the start of the meal (and still 10.25) we were quite happy with drinks. 3.5/5 in hindsight. Vibe - confusing. More dated than I was expecting. Cool sculptures inside. The physical menus, and the overall facility needs a face lift if they are trying to be high end. I guess this is the biggest topic. What is Peak trying to be?!?Perhaps it's a relic from previous wave of the area when things weren't as competitive or high end (which btw is most of apex still - but moving in the right direction just like Cary). Feels like it is no identity and perhaps has just been around so long they may not need one. Also feels like just a matter of time until a proper high end bar and restaurant comes into Apex and eliminates the place. Service - solid. Waiter was very good/attentive. 4-5

With a deep selection from the bar, a bourbon and a glass of wine, we started with the olive and bread appetizer and placed our order with high hopes. After almost 30 minutes our food came to the table, without not one check in by our server since our order. One plate was much cooler than the other. The flat steak was good, but over the spiced relish was disappointing. The vegetable stir fry was more red pepper flakes than flavor, and nowhere on the menu was this indicated. The server when told acknowledged and actually said “the chef likes flavor”. I responded that it was not mentioned on the menu description and to please take it to the chef to eat as I did care to. While the stir fry was removed from our bill and told “the GM approved” it would have been a more welcomed gesture to take 2 minutes and apologize at the table and offer something else. Would I try again? A bourbon, glass of wine, olive appetizer, and a flat steak for $90... probably not my first choice.

Great experience. Our server was very attentive. The food was excellent. I had a great sea bass and my wife had a very good flank steak. The steak was a little tough. Overall, the food was great and the service was superior!

We came in Saturday, May 4th at 5pm as a party of 4. Myself, my husband, our daughter and my mother. My mother was treating us to dinner to celebrate our upcoming 18th wedding anniversary. Apparently she had called ahead and then spoke with staff when we arrived in hopes the server would bring a desert with a candle at the end of the meal, but despite staff saying after the fact that they informed our server, nothing was even mentioned or brought over. That aside, the service left something to be desired. Waters were never refilled and we had to ask the server what the catch of the day was as well as the soup. He had no idea of either and had to consult the signs at the front. We also have no idea if there was even a special as he never mentioned one nor did he come with any bread (not sure if that's part of the experience or not, but for the staggering prices one would think you would receive crackers at least). I ordered the short ribs dish that came with 2 sides and was delicious. Our daughter had the ribeye with 2 sides and also delicious. My mom and husband each had the scallops which were mediocre at best. $45 for 5 medium scallops and zero sides is a joke. The two of them left hungry. Had they known the dish would be a small-plate appetizer, they would've definitely made a different choice. However it was listed in the entree section of the menu so naturally they assumed $45 would constitute an actual meal. The final bill came to $211 plus a $35 tip. Needless to say, we are still dumbfounded. I understand losing our future business won't in any way change the bottom line, however I feel it's important to pass this along in hopes you will improve the experience for future patrons.

Food was good. A few odd flavors paired in the special but it worked. The issue was more texture with the sundried tomatoes in the grouper dish- they were a bit stringy. Also not sure the dish needed the extra punch of pesto but the risotto was good nicely. We had a few appetizers. The chorizo gnocchi and bean soup looked good but one diner didn't finish it. The scallops looked heavenly and the desserts were beautifully presented and guests ate them up! Service was stellar. Will be back for lunch and try a lot more items. Not enough choices for our vegetarian diners.

This was a nice dinner. Our server was busy and, as a result, not very attentive. It was Apex restaurant week and we ordered from the restaurant week menu. I had the salmon and my husband had the shrimp. Both dishes were well prepared.

Tried the Peak for lunch during restaurant for a three-course meal. House salad was generous and colorful with a tangy apple cider vinaigrette. Hub's meatloaf and mashed potatoes scored as did my flat bread with cheeses, almonds and pears. Took the flourless chocolate torte home for later, but it looked delish. Loved the ambiance of the old building with soaring ceilings that absorb sound. Attentive service, too.

Cheese board was great specially the thin wafers. Steaks were great, potatoes were very salty. Service was poor. Seems like they need more help specially upstairs. Ambiance was great.
