Wherever we go, we like to "shop" at antique/thrift/consignment type businesses. In the process we often are treated to mental trips down childhood lanes when we see vintage objects with which we were familiar as children. And, there are those times when we find "must have treasures" that make us smile. This afternoon, we stepped into this wonderful little shop, located along Main Street in Andrews, NC. It was so welcoming with flowers and fall decorations outside. When we walked in, we discovered the most eye-appealing displays and assortment of nice vintage clothing, artwork, toys, glassware, china, jewelry, furniture, lamps, stained glass and so very much more. It was definitely the most well-presented and organized shop of its kind we had every walked into. There were no crowded nooks or side rooms, we didn't have to fear bumping into anything and everything was tastefully arranged and displayed. There was no musty smell and pleasant music was playing. The owner, JoAnne Page, and her husband (her helper) have owned and built this business over the past few years. JoAnne has a degree in interior design which explained the eye-appealing and comfortable atmosphere. She was obviously picky with what she accepted and displayed. There is no cheap kitsch or gauche items to be found. It's a classy place to be sure. She told me she researches each item she accepts to try to find its story. She hears the items "talk" and tell tales of days gone by. I thought this was a unique way to breathe life into her merchandise. If you love to shop these types of stores, you'll definitely want to put this one on your list whenever you chance to find yourself in this sleepy little hamlet, tucked into the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains.
