I am a regular customer of this Sobeys, but today’s experience was unacceptable.
The cashier(Sayeed) did not greet me at the checkout and was rude throughout the interaction.
I asked for the points on my loyalty card to be removed, but the cashier flatly refused, saying, ‘No, only the owner can do that.’ When I told them that I am the owner of the card, nothing changed. It became clear that they assumed I was using someone else’s card, likely because I looked younger than I am.
I’m 29 years old, and I find it disrespectful to be treated this way simply because I don’t look my age. If the cashier had any doubts, they could have asked for ID rather than make assumptions. And even if I were a teenager using my own card, does that mean I don’t deserve basic courtesy and respect?

Recently improved minimally - but store is often missing staple produce items e.g. 5lb onion bag, coriander, 6 pack of garlic, ginger, fresh salmon etc. really shocking as it serves one of the densest area in town yet it suffers from scarcity - OTOH other sobeys are stocked just fine i.e. ropewalk.

I stopped by here to pickup some breakfast, dinner and snack options. They had some nice organic seedless raspberry jam, loaf of bread, salsa, tortilla chips, garlic & herb pork chops, Salmon stuffed with shrimp/cream cheese/spinach, salads (Caesar & Garden) and the best Potato Twice Baked dish. It had creamy mashed potatoes, cheddar cheese, chives and went perfectly with the meat.
The prices were surprisingly reasonable as I thought they would be much higher being on an island. This location is also very close to downtown St John’s and was less than a 10 minute walk from our place.
If you have a place with a kitchen or just want an already prepared meal they have many great options and their prices are fair!

Dealing with the pharmacy staff is frustrating. Maybe they are understaffed, but have an extremely confrontational attitude.
