How this place got a 4/5 surprises me. They closed the restaurant which seems reasonable but they should have closed the motel too. No one at the desk for check in, and only up terrible flights of stairs on 2 for rooms. Call and see if you get anyone to answer. I’d give it a 1/4 if I were generous but I can’t even be that generous. Don’t waste your time coming here.
Walkability: Two difficult flights of stairs. No elevator.
Noteworthy details: Nothing positive that’s noteworthy about this motel.

This place is old and dated. Carpet throughout which needs to be replaced with flooring. Two chairs and a table and I sat on a towel because the chairs were so stained and dirty. We had a room in the back of the hotel and had to look at an old delapitated garage with junk surrounding it. The deck out front needed to be painted and there were weeds and tall grass everywhere. We were booked for two nights and thank goodness we canceled one. Not close to any sea view. Restaurant closed which were weren’t told about when we booked. Should have booked somewhere else. Very disappointed

Old rooms very small. And restaurant was a waste of money.

Front desk check in was a breeze no issues handed our room key no fuss at all
Room pretty basic the shower pressure not great at all and if travelling with kids make sure when taking a shower you are close by as the water temperature is unpredictable cold one second scolding the next. Bed is not the most comfy but ok.
Dinner: you would think being so close to the water that the seafood would be fresh definitely not pretty standard if they could offer fresh would be great rather than out the freezer. Wait staff were great though

Shower didn’t work, kept switching to the tap, extremely frustrating. On business so priorities are different but I definitely won’t be returning

Our hotel room was a pet friendly room. We were not informed of the $25 pet fee until we were checking in, where we were told via the waiver that there would be a $100 cleaning fee applied if our there was “excessive shedding”, whatever that means. Dogs shed. If you can’t clean dog hair without charging an extra $100, then you’re not equipped to be pet friendly. The room itself was not clean. The walls were covered in marks and dents (see pictures), there was a shoe print on the side of our bed sheets, and an unidentifiable stain on one of the two (extremely outdated) chairs in the room. The shower was quite possibly the worst i have ever had in my life. If you don’t have a mechanical engineering degree, good luck. It would turn off randomly, become ice cold and then turn boiling hot without even touching the knob, which was a mystery in and of itself. I hope you aren’t too dirty because the water pressure is abysmal. If you need to post instructions on how to operate the shower, it may be over complicated. The view from the pet friendly rooms was appalling. paint chipped off, an absolute mess outdoors (see pictures). Would not stay again if it was the last available room on the island. Service was good at least and you’re not too far from bonavista or trinity.

There was a mix-up with our dates, and we arrived to check in on a date they had to check out. Not only did they refund me, but they found alternate accommodations as they were fully booked. Sweetest staff.

Wonderful small hotel! Clean, quiet, great beds and pillows. Terrific staff. Wonderful attached restaurant with the kindest and friendliest service staff....and great food. Even had a fine singer/guitar player/composer performing for one night we were there.
Nearby activities: Located in the historic town of Port Union, it was a good place to be based for our several days on the Bonavista Peninsula. We took in the historical sights, the geology and fossils, and the great scenery.

I chose to stay here on my way to Bonavista. The room is very neat but a little bit noisy probably because of the wooden building materials. The staff at the front desk and the restaurant are superb! Special discount for in-house guests and the breakfast is really great!!!

I made a mistake on the online reservation. I made the reservation for the day before I expected to be there. When I showed up the next day. The gentleman pointed out my mistake. He had no room for me that night, but made a few calls and found me a wonderful place to stay 20 minutes away. After finding that I was charged for the night per their cancellation policy, that was clearly stated in the reservation. I called and asked if he could refund me the money. He pleasantly agreed, and refunded me the money. Thanks for being a great guy!!!

We had lunch at the restaurant. The service was impeccable. Excellent food. The best toutons I have eaten. Truly the best place for lunch in the area. On the other hand, the toilets in the entrance are terrible.

It's like the walls are made of paper. You can hear everything. People in neighbouring rooms closing doors, or talking. Others walking along the hall sound like they're stomping on plywood. The first night the TV remote didn't work. At 9pm I went to the front desk for batteries to discover no one there, and it was closed. The next night I went with the burned out bathroom ceiling light bulb. This time no staff available past 8pm. No notes on how to get a hold of anyone.

We stayed two nights at the seaport with two rooms. Both rooms were clean and comfortable, staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the area.
Would recommend this for anyone wanting somewhere central to everything Bonavista and Trinity but with the history of Port Union.

Very nice and friendly staff. Just the right people to see after long tiring drives on your vacation. The restaurant ladies are fantastic. The Menu is great and so are the home made muffins and Jam. Don't miss French Onion soup if you're feeling a bit under the weather. Thank you everyone working there. There is dampness in the rooms and that took one star off my experience here.
