One of the wonderful things about travelling is when you come across a place which is above your expectations. Hospitality that was subtle and welcoming and generous. A lit open fire with companionship was a travellers delight. Home cooked fresh seafood at the restaurant is not to be missed. This is Newfoundland at its best, so friendly.Freshwater Inn is understated. It has a location of natural beauty at your doorstep. The rooms are exceptionally comfortable spacious clean with tasteful decor.Steve and Leonie from Newcastle Australia

A delightful treasure. The room was lovely, clean and provided all we needed. There is a restaurant on the premises. Homemade breakfast every morning included in price of room. But the best was the owner, Gary, who took a special interest in each guest. He shared stories of the culture, history and geography. Helped us plan activities for the day and even made a bonfire in the evenings. A very special person and place.

The Freshwater Inn is one of the highlights of our trip to Newfoundland. Gary went above and beyond to make us comfortable and answer our questions. He was the kindest person we met during our entire trip. We stayed in room 4 which felt like a whole apartment to ourselves. The food was amazing and the art in the cafe was so beautiful we brought two pieces home. The trail was lovely and the view from Dolomon's point was spectacular. We even saw a family of otters playing in the water nearby. Overall we highly recommend you make a stop in Gambo and stay at the Freshwater Inn! You won't regret it.

Great find off the beaten path for delicious lunch! There is not much between here and there in these parts of Newfoundland and this is a gem. Wish we would have stayed here…beautiful location with friendly engaging hots and kitchen staff. Very friendly and personable. Need to come back and stay here.

What a wonderful experience!! The Captain’s room #4 is the entire upper floor of the main building. It had a living room space with small fridge, Keurig, sofa, and small balcony to sit out on. The bedroom was spacious and nicely decorated. The place is immaculately clean and well appointed. On site is their quaint cafe with local driftwood craft art work. The room rental includes a generous breakfast ordered off the menu. We highly recommend eating dinner there as well. The owner Gary’s often supplies the kitchen with cod caught that very morning: awesome and delicious. Gary is a font of knowledge, warm and welcoming. His entire staff bends over to cater to your every need. We highly recommend staying here!!

We stayed here on June 16th, 2023. What an amazing place. The property is wonderful. Beautiful setting on the water, nice deck to sit and enjoy the view. Large area with chairs for a nice campfire. A 2km walking trail. The room we had was luxurious, way more than we expected. Fridge, microwave, coffee in the room. Very nice bathroom with a clawfoot tub. Had a little visit from a rabbit in the morning right outside our room. The owners and staff are very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was amazing! Loved the blueberry and partridgeberry jam. The restaurant offers meals and is licensed. Local handmade crafts available for purchase. The location is great for day trips. The only bad thing was that we only booked one night. Our next trip will be much longer and we are already planning. Well done Gary and staff! See you soon

We truly enjoyed the beautiful location, delicious food and warm hospitality at the Freshwater Inn. We stayed in the room on the second floor of the main building. It was like staying at home. The suite was spacious, with a living room, bedroom and bathroom. We didn't enjoy the porch because it was rainy but took some time to explore the trail around the property. This must be an amazing place to stay in good weather. The inn offers a hearty breakfast and is now open for lunch and dinner. The food was delicious and the staff and owner, Gary, made sure you felt welcome and at home. This is a very special place to stay and I can't recommend it enough. Wonderful!

We stayed in Freshwater Inn on July 15th. There are only 3 rooms. We stayed in two rooms and they are side by side. As soon as enter, I could feel the vibe. The place is very welcoming and cozy. The bathtub is classy. The room has a mini fridge, sofa, microwave and a big bed. Every single room is facing water. You will see the change of water level from your room. There is fire pit for campfire. We did not experience any bugs or mosquitoes around the fire. There are good lounge chairs. If you go further close to water, you will find more chairs to sit and relax. I love the big rock on the deck where you can sit and do your morning yoga. It is decorated with night light also. We stayed in several places in our Newfoundland visit, but I liked this place the most. They serve breakfast in the morning which is included in the staying. The vibe in the breakfast cafe is amazing. They make the food in there. I loved their yogurt and granola. They are very customer focused. You don’t have to worry about anything, they are friendly. I wish to go back and stay in that place again. Oh yes, there is one hiking trail by the water. It has more privacy and quietness.
