Really cool place and a really nice experience. The guy running the place Tyler was a standout. The guy was really helpful, kind and did not make me feel like an idiot for being a rookie. Whoever his boss is should give him a raise, seriously. That's the exact type of guy I would want working for me.

Shot two rounds of trap with a group of five beginners and can't thank Austin, Brian and Joshua enough for a great time! They were extremely helpful explaining the particulars we needed to be safe and enjoy our time. Thank you gentlemen!

So an update to my review it's probably the best shotgun range if you want to just go there with a group and shoot but I bought my own skeet thrower after an experience where I and several other people were shooting 18.5" barrel shotguns not bothered but someone (a person I don't know) went there with a pistol grip shotgun that had a full stock and they turned him down asked him to leave because his shotgun was too tactical. This was a few years ago, i shoot skeet and trap all the time, that was very rude. Now I mostly just goto calverton. If there was something about them not wanting 18" barrels at the time it would have made sense but there wasn't and they said my wooden 870 was fine with a 18" barrel. It's rude to turn someone down for something as simple as him just having a pistol grip and synthetic black furniture on a legally owned shotgun.
Aside from that it's a great range and I recommend probably only godo skeet range anywhere around long island. I just prefer bringing my own equipment to calverton so I don't have to worry about my shotguns not being up to their standards which they make a decision I guess what is allowed. Back in the day like 5+ years ago they let you shoot whatever as long as it was legal and state compliant. Calverton you can bring whatever you want as long as it's legal and state compliant.

I had a frustrating experience on a Sunday when trying to retrieve my license. After forgetting it the previous day, I returned to the store hoping to get it back. The person at the register was unhelpful and had a notably poor attitude. He checked the register briefly and said my license wasn’t there, insisting that it’s the only place where lost licenses are kept.
When I asked if he could contact the staff from the previous day to see if my license might be elsewhere, he refused, saying he didn’t know who was working and wouldn’t make an effort to find out. It felt like he wasn’t interested in helping at all. With staff like this (person working on Sunday, the person working on Saturday was very helpful), it's clear that such negative attitudes and lack of customer service will have a negative impact on the business.

My first time..friendly and helpful staff. (2016)
I came back 8 years later, and I received the same polite and friendly welcome. (Sam remembered me!)

I had the most frustrating experience dealing with Austin and Michael. They lost my drivers license and were completely unwilling to do anything to get it back to me. Even after I verified that it was there the next day and asked Austin to mail it to me. He said” we don’t do that.” Now after speaking to him about when I can come to pick it up he told me it was mailed out 2 weeks ago. When I called today and spoke with the manager Michael, he said he mailed out 2 licenses but wasn’t sure who’s they were. And that he didn’t know where my license was. They both have no idea what the words customer service means. It’s the most unprofessional attitudes I have come across in a long while.

This is a simple and nice little range and it gets the job done. I've come here a handful a times and its always been a straightforward fun experience. The areas are clean, the staff is efficient and friendly, prices are fair and its never swamped so I've never had to wait. The regulars are also very friendly and if you share slot, they will help guide you somewhat. Their equipment isnt the greated, fine. Like I said they are a simple range. I think you'll have fun, especially if you are completely new.

Suffolk Trap and Skeet is one of two private shotgun "clubs" in Suffolk Alway clean, always run well. Great for private shooters or clubs or fund raising
