Wifey and I were up in Woodstock before Christmas and stopped in here again. A few years back we were here and I bought a small Edgar Allan Poe figure (my favorite author)...it was a little pricey, but I wanted it. This year we stopped in again, and they do still have a pretty cool inventory, but the prices for some of the stuff I wanted was just way too much. We try our best to buy from local places when it's reasonable, but it wasn't.

Outrageously overpriced, almost triple the price of what you would find online for some of these "unique" toys, which btw are not unique, you can find them all on Amazon. In addition the older women who owns the stores watches over people like they are criminals just waiting to steal her merchandise. She was abrasive, and rude to my son and he actually cried when we left the store. Never been treated so poorly a store ever. Not only is she gouging her customers she is also terrorizing and insulting someone This store and the owner are an absolute disgrace.

i went in there today with my two year old. bad vibes ! wanted to buy something to support local... we grabbed a $13 crocodile creek ball... ok... and then almost checked out a $26 pack of ooly stickers. as the owner is ringing me up, i ask "26?" and she's like yup, $26. this is a small postcard sized page of stickers. anyhoo they are sold by ooly for $2.99. i googled it. freaky place.

I love shopping local. I really do, but I am very frustrated by this store. I called earlier today to ask if they have a specific toy in stock, and confirm that they are open until 6 pm today. I arrived in town by at 5:20. The store was dark and locked. The sign said Saturdays open until 6 (hopefully) but they were not open at 5:20 when I arrived. I’m all for the laid back Woodstock vibes but this is really annoying because if they had told me that they probably wouldn’t stay open until 6 today, I could have made it to Rhinebeck before land of oz closes for the night.

Such helpful staff. Best collection of unique, fun and intelligent toys anywhere I've ever been. This was a huge step above those superficial mass market chain toy stores.

Cannot express enough how much I appreciate coming here as a parent. We stop by every time we are in Woodstock, but the kids remind us we have to drop in any time we drive upstate. They have a thoughtful collection of toys and games you would not find in bog box stores, and avoid big plastic junk. They also have a lot of toys and tricks from the past that will appeal to the adult's nostalgia (seeing my kid play with a slinky and woopee!). The service is always warm and helpful. They fixed issue with a cheapish toy that broke the next day immediately without fuss. Overall Tinker Toys is an essential stop for adults and kids alike on any Woodstock visit.

I was just shopping with my two kids 5 and 3, in a packed store of over priced gimmicky “toys”, while the owner followed my 3 year old son around while he played with a shark stuffed animal. He was told to put it back and then she continued to follow him and told him not to touch anything. This is a toy store yes? Perhaps it should read no children allowed because she came up to me and said “we have a ton of new inventory to put away now.’ I said “okay? Why are you telling me this? Would you like us to leave?” She said “ yes, actually.”Okay? I am FLOORED. I live in area and we have been there several times before. I asked her name she tells me she’s actually the owner. So I said wow in front of the other 20 patrons how absolutely disgusting we were treated/ I’ll be telling all of my local friends to stay far away. Time this lady finds a new business if she can’t stand the sight of children and owns a kids store. Absolutely disgusting I have never in my life been treated this way. Shame on you suki “actually the owner” as you smugly call yourself.

So glad to see we are not the only ones treated absolutely disgracefully by the woman who owns this store. It was a nice store and had lots of cute, fun, and interesting items for my kid. However, $17 jumbo crayons that I found online cost $6? That's a big difference that just makes me feel like a fool. If I paid a few extra bucks for the convenience and to support a local store, I'd be totally okay with that but paying $11 more? We won't be returning.

This store is amazing in so many different ways that I can't list all of them, so I'm going to state the most important details. #1 It's a kid friendly environment.#2 The person who owns the store is very loving towards children.#3 When I went into the store, everything was so organized. It was as if a professional had done it. So in my opinion this store (or as the store owner calls it, their kingdom is in my top favorite stores ever. Sincerely, Kye K.

Great unique toys! Toy stores are rare these days. We always pop in when in town.

This is a cute store, but the woman who works/owns this store is incredibly unpleasant. Not sure why someone like this would ever open a store that is geared to tourists but she clearly wants to be somewhere else. She has no respect for the people who visit the store and is downright nasty. I was shocked. The vibe was SO bad. This experience alone has soured me on Woodstock in general. There are plenty of places to buy unique toys, not sure why she has such a snotty attitude. It's not like she ownsFAO Schwartz. AVOID.
