“If you're in the market for food+veg, there's Sunflower Market or Sundrost Farms in town. But what about all those other must-have home essentials you might need? Then you come here. This Houst & Son on Tinker St in the heart of Woodstock is independently owned- falling within the fold of the True Value brand. We've relied on these folks for years especially when we've stayed at a local B&B with access to their grill then come here for a bag of charcoal briquettes. We'll still get those- but now as things have changed for us, we're getting kitchen items, cast-iron skillets, etc to use on weekends when we're in town. The right side of Houst is dedicated to kitchen items such as cutlery, cleaning supplies, pots+pans, serving spoons, welcome mats+other outdoor items. The left side has painting supplies, plumbing products and other DIY projects that need seeing quickly. For bigger home improvements, ask. Price? It's Woodstock. I'm not driving out of my way to save a a few dollars. But, these folks have a rewards system which you can accumulate and use for future purchases. As far as service, it's unbeatable.”

“While the young lady at a paint store we purchased a Zar wood stain brand knew her shtick, it was me who was dissatisfied with the orange hue our brand new raw wood doors took on. We knew we had to go with what we know and that's Minwax- that's not sold at Herzog's- but instead at Sherwin Williams. Sherwin Williams consistently lives up to the their product and that's why we love the paint here and everything else that comes along with it. These folks are located on Albany Ave in Kingston and open really early in the morning- something my husband and I liked- especially since we come to our home in the Catskills on weekends. The space is well-kept, service is professional, price is fine and it's simple to get to.”

“The best local hardware store. Extremely helpful staff. Very clean store. Prices are average to other hardware stores. The only difference at this hardware store you get better quality help from the staff and a great product you and your family can count on.”

“Regardless of their low rating, our landscaper guy and new contractor swear by this place. Off we came. Located at the Kingston Plaza in Kingston, NY, we came here for a color stain for raw pine doors we'd purchased at a door store. Herzog's is big- not Home Depot big- but it's got a lot of what you may need for home repairs. They carry lighting equipment, painting items, a kitchen+ bathroom design dep't, textiles, BBQ accessories, vacuum cleaners, gardening supplies, candles, some clothing- heck, even minimalist jewelry in a glass case, etc. My girl with the glasses in the paint department was smooth and patient. She took her time when we asked her questions about colors and how each color stain would react to raw wood. Service was fine, we left with smiles and was the opposite of everything that's been written here in the past. Whether you're working with a contractor like we are or you're one of those Do-It-Yourselfers, this is your place.”
