I love going to classes here! I went in as a beginner and everyone there is so welcoming and inclusive. Even the clients are welcoming to newcomers which speaks volumes of the atmosphere they set here. The instructors are fantastic and I appreciate their attention to proper form and mechanics. I highly recommend this studio. I’ve never had a bad class or a bad experience with them. (Plus their merch is super cute so there’s that too!)

Barre Centric is a fun and inviting studio where you will experience a quality whole body exercise with every class. The owners Gia and Rachael are constantly creating new classes, challenges, and special events to make their studio feel like a community for their members. What a great place to meet new people, walk away with sore muscles, and gain a positive and healthy headspace.

I’ve been going to BC since they’ve opened. It really is a special place for women (and men) to disconnect, strengthen and stretch their bodies. It’s a 45-55 minute class so it’s something I can commit to as a busy mom. The owners and their families as well as their staff of long time instructors have nothing but the best intentions and run this business with everything they have to give. They are constantly adding new classes, events and merchandise to keep things fresh and fun for members. They have worked so hard through a Pandemic they have no control of. Thankful to have this business in our community.

Recently I became a Centric Centennial, hitting 100 barre classes at Barre Centric. What does this really mean? Probably that I've taken a ton of barre classes, which is entirely true, and I have no plans to stop any time soon. Barre Centric was a joy to find, giving me variety and challenge in my workouts, but without exacerbating my myriad injuries. If you're completely new to barre, take a regular class first to get used to the format. Classes are fairly predictable in the sense that the layout is the same: warm up (which I tend to find more difficult than some of the standard exercises), arms, legs, stretch break, seat work, abs, cool down. The thing I like best about the classes is knowing what to expect. Believe it or not, it makes the time go faster. The other thing to consider is that the choreography is the same no matter who is teaching the class, and the moves change every week. This is helpful in that it doesn't matter who is teaching the class, it's going to be the same no matter what. Of course, you may find that you gravitate to certain instructors over others, especially if you have a fixed schedule and can only get to certain classes. The northtowns studio, being the original, is the largest of the studios. As such, all four classes are currently offered: Barre Centric, Barre Cardio, Barre Resist, and Barre Bounce. I've tried all four classes and have found that I prefer Bounce over the other specialty classes, since I feel it goes by the fastest and is the most efficient in breaking out a sweat. Here's what you can expect at the specialty classes: Barre Cardio is a faster paced version of the original Barre Centric class, with quicker moves, shorter warm up time, and shorter stretch breaks. You will move faster in this class during the four muscle group sequences. I found that I didn't love this one, although my injuries may have something to do with that. I won't rule out taking Cardio again at some point, but probably not until I'm less injured (and being myself, it could take awhile). Barre Resist was originally unique to this studio, and I find it to be a nice change of pace from time to time. You use the resistance straps with both handles or a Pilates stick depending on the exercises in question. Some of the moves remind me of physical therapy movements, and I love getting the leg stretch at the beginning of the leg/thigh sequence. This class moves at a similar pace to the original Centric class, making it a good choice for those who don't want to speed through things. Barre Bounce: what do I say about this one? It's 45 minutes, but you get so much done. The class is still divided into the four muscle groups, but interspersed with cardio on the trampolines. It always reminds me of a certain Very Special Episode of Saved by the Bell and a certain music video within, if you think about it. On a more practical level, you may think you're not coordinated for some of this choreography, but trust me, you are. You can get the general effect of the moves quite easily, and the harder stuff is easy to fake. (Ask me how I know.) This class goes by the fastest because there's no time to stop and think about what you are doing, you just have to jump. I will happily endorse classes at Barre Centric to anyone. There's challenge, variety, and the feeling that anyone can do this workout. And if you still don't feel like you can handle a barre class, I promise you, you'll be fine. I can't wait to hit my 250th class and keep going to every milestone after.

I initially went to the studio when it first opened, and I was hooked and noticed changes in my tone and core strength after only a short time. I moved out of town but now that I'm back, I am so glad to have joined again. There are many varieties of classes offered such as: barre centric (which is the regular class), barre cardio (fast paced most similar to regular class, barre bounce (trampolines!) and barre resist (using Pilates stick). I'll start by saying that if you have never tried barre before, you should go to the regular classes first before trying the variations. The regular class has 4 sections with warmup, thighs, glutes, abs. Most of the class you're using your own body weight as resistance for training. It's difficult but it keeps you going. I noticed a difference in my form and tone in just 2 weeks (6 or so classes). The best part is the routine changes every week so though you work the same areas, there's variety so the class is always challenging. Barre Cardio is most closest to the regular class in terms of set up, again its warm up, thighs, glutes and abs. This class is very fast paced and more difficult than the regular centric class, not in the sense of lifting more weights but because of the fast pace. The goal is obviously to raise your HR higher than regular class. It's fun, fast, and a good alternative. Barre Bounce is very different from regular class. The set up is different - we are on trampolines for the majority of class. I was initially worried about falling off but that didn't happen hah. I'm glad I went because again it's more cardio and fast paced. This class still includes some barre exercises but the majority of class is spent raising your HR on the trampoline. Barre Resist is a fun class. I think this class helps you really find your balance and learn how to balance well. It is done only using your body weight so it's fun! The arm routine is done at the barre and without weights (as compared to the regular class). I like that the studio runs good deals certain times of year to make the classes more affordable. While some might find the price expensive it's comparable to other barre studios. I also like that this work out isn't like doing a million push ups, running, but I still am getting the results I want. It is a fun challenging environment. All the instructors are super nice and helpful. I can't recommend barre enough!

The teachers at Barre at Barre Centric are just wonderful, kind, helpful and truly knowledgable. They make me feel special each and every time I go. But the best thing about the Barre Centric is their knowledge of the Barre classes. They make sure we get an amazing workout but keep us in correct positions and make sure we do not get injured while we get into shape. The classes are all very challenging and WOW do they work to change the shape of my body. I call it my love-hate relationship. I hate to have to move through a class but I LOVE what it does to my body. I can't recommend this particular Barre studio enough. I have sat in on several other studios and NON compare to the workout I receive at Barre Centric. They have the knowledge and the work out that the other studios lack. I truly recommend, if you are wishing to try a Barre Class, you start with Barre Centric. Anyone of any ability can do these classes.

I have been going to Barre Centric for about 2 years now, and I absolutely love it! The owners of BC, Rachel and Gia, have a great business sense and are second to none! All of the instructors at both locations have the best personalities so it is very easy to ask questions if you have any concerns. They change their classes up a lot so it isn't the same old thing. You can make the classes as challanging as you'd like and there are a few different classe types to choose from. BC is perfect for everyone no matter what your fitness level! Defiantly check them out! You won't be disappointed!!!
