A lot of people seem upset about billing issues — I’ve never had any, so I get the feeling that those issues are very unique and maybe even a bit of user error. I’ve had to change cards many times, gone on hiatuses because of injuries, even canceled my membership once because I thought I was moving and never had a billing issue. It’s interesting how well things will go if you follow directions and try to keep things as simple as possible. The gym itself is nothing special, though I wouldn’t say it’s anything bad. 90% of the population (that aren’t going to the classes) are college bros and hos, so if you’re trying to plan your workout around that, try to imagine when a teenager or young 20 year old would NOT be working out and go then. The guys crowd around machines in groups of 5 and behave as if they’re in a club (no pun). The girls seem ultra focused as they execute their exercises incorrectly and are very quick to accuse you of staring at outfits that are obvious pleas for attention. There is a small population of very serious, productive gym goers, and they seem to be in the 35+ category. A lot of the people that go are regulars, so you will definitely see the same faces over again if you go regularly, and it’s almost impossible not to make at least an acquaintance or two (or an enemy or two) if you do. The classes I mentioned have huge waves of people that come and go, not really being present at all on the actual workout floor, so their presence isn’t really felt. I’ve never been to one of their classes, but they seem to be popular. When it gets busy, it’s BUSY, though I’ve never waited too, too long for a machine or weight. I’ve heard the locker rooms and/or some of the advertised amenities are not really good, if they even exist at all; but honestly I don’t need any of that and have never really investigated the issue. I’ve never used their personal training services, but they seem to be surprisingly busy. All things considered, for the price, I would say it’s worth it. In the area itself, I don’t really know of any alternative gym, especially for the price.

The venue is old. But the staff and management is outstanding. The gym is very clean and the members are respectful and kind. I have always enjoyed my experience in this venue. The front desk is outstanding and professional. You will meet outstanding individuals in this gym including staff and gym membership. The bathrooms are very clean and the staff is frequently cleaning and maintaining the hygiene of the club venue. The manager is always available for guidance and support. ?

I love this location. It’s not too packed like the other locations in Astoria and Rego Park. The equipment is a bit outdated, but overall it has everything I need! The restroom is clean. Overall, this location deserves more love!!

Love this gym!!! NYSC @ Whitestone, NY has changed my life! I recently joined and became a member, have not regretted one day since. I was looking for a good gym in the Queens area and came across this Gem! A great place to workout and just have some fun. The highlight of my experience thus far are especially the Amazing staff. Thank you Stacey, Chris and Juliana for making me feel at home and make me want to return the next day to further my progress on this journey! You’re all a true delight with great customer service done with passion and a smile! If anyone’s looking for a gym in Queens, I highly recommend NYSC of Whitestone ?

I’ve been attending this gym for a few months now and was excited to book my first cycling class. I attended today’s class and admit I was roughly about 3 minutes late. As I was trying to self-adjust to a machine, the instructor, Kevin Mondrick, finally noticed I was clearly struggling. Instead of offering assistance, he began to threaten not to let me in if I came late again.
After a couple more minutes of seeing me struggle, he asked if it was my first time in a spin class. When I said yes, he simply told me to come back next week and proceeded with the class, leaving me to fend for myself.
While I understand that being a few minutes late was my fault, his nasty attitude, rudeness and lack of professionalism were completely uncalled for, especially since I gave him no reason to act this way and I’m paying a monthly fee for this service. Considering this was my first time signing up for a class at this gym, I am extremely unsatisfied and disappointed with the outcome.

The gym is clean and spacious. Hopefully the sauna will be fixed soon, it’s been over a month already and still not working.

This review is SOLELY for my experience with Personal Trainer Dean and NOT by any means a rating for the gym. Dean is a very brilliant trainer and educator. We did some sample exercises to test my strength and capabilities and he showed me what exercises I should be doing for my personal goals. He educated me on the number of calories I should be consuming a day, what foods I should be eating to achieve my goals etc. Very humorous as well! I walked out feeling much more knowledgable about what I should and shouldn't be doing exercise and diet wise and will take with me and start practicing what he taught me. I would definitely recommend Dean in a heartbeat because he REALLY knows his stuff! He's going to be an amazing Doctor of Physical Therapy.

I recently canceled my membership solely on the lack of cleanliness at this gym. Maybe it’s me but I don’t like getting on the treadmill or any machine & there’s sweat stains all over it & there’s never any sanitizer/wipes to clean machines. So now I’m left with bringing in my own hand sani & a couple napkins to wipe down machines before & after. I brought this up to the front desk plenty of times asking for cleaning supplies & they just say “we are waiting on a new shipment” which often would take 3-4 days. How about this… how about ordering your supplies in advance so you never run out! It’s disgusting how dirty this gym is. The equipment is old as dirt there’s dust, sweat stains & hair all over them, the paint on the walls is old & dirty & the gym is dark & grimy looking & looks like it hasn’t been updated since it first opened. For an extra 3min ride there’s Life on 154th, Push fitness in whitepoint or Powerhouse down franny lou. Honestly I could care less what they have to say at this point. I pleaded with them for a year to keep on top of the cleanliness of the equipment & it was always an “ehh maybe tomorrow we’ll have supplies” It’s like the staff knows this gym is gross too & they’re so whatever & unfazed by all of it at this point.*UPDATE - Thanks for the automated response NYSC! Shows how much you care. Maybe use the high annual fees that are suppose to be used for the gym to actually update the gym!? And hire a better cleaning crew.

CLOSE THIS DOWN AND OPEN A PLANET FITNESS! Everyone complains how bad this gym is, what’s the point of keeping it open!
