A gem in the neighborhood with personal touch missing from big chains.

My family and I used Harpell's in Astoria for years. I recently moved out of the city and I will miss Mike, the pharmacist. He is a kind, helpful, go-the-extra-mile professional. Thanks, Mike!!

I had to switch pharmacies when a pharmacy I loved no longer accepted Medicare. At the time I was devastated. I have several prescriptions I take which are not exactly run of the mill prescriptions. So switching pharmacies which probably sounds like no big deal to most people, is a very BIG deal for me, especially when you factor in that I absolutely refuse to deal with any BIG chain pharmacies ever again. That said Harpell Pharmacy has been a shining star in my life. They have come through for me on many occasions when I really needed them to do so. I started with Harpell in their previous location on Francis Lewis Blvd., which was closer to my residence. When they closed that location's pharmacy related business, I switched to their Whitestone location which I like even better despite the fact that I must drive further to get there. Some places are just worth it, and this pharmacy is one of them. Thank you to everyone at Harpell, I honestly and sincerely appreciate each and everyone of you. Keep up the great work!

Nothing beats the feeling of your neighbouring small store service compare to big chain stores....fast service

Over Memorial Day weekend I was home sick with an upper respiratory virus and couldn't get to the pharmacy to pick up my Rx. Although Harpell doesn't officially offer delivery service on the weekend, Nancy recognized I was in a bit of a jam and she personally drove to my home on Sunday after the store closed and dropped it off for me. That seemingly small act of thoughtfulness and kindness was very meaningful to me and will always be remembered. It is the reason I choose to bring my business to a local pharmacy instead of a large chain. Thank you Nancy!!!! And thank you Harpell.

I can’t say enough about how great EVERYONE who works there. I and my family have been going there for many many years. They always have my scripts on time and when they don’t have something in stock, they get it that afternoon or first thing next morning. The pharmacists are also very knowledgeable and helpful at answering questions. Please support your local stores. It is super important. Thank you Harpell for continuing to be an important anchor in the Whitestone community!

I personally advise to all of the people out there please go by your self give them a try and then take a proper decision about them weather is worth of going there or no I think they constantly improving in all prospective and I have to say the most reasonable pharmacy with professional staff hard to find help you in all your doctors prescribed medication let you know everything in advance no more worry to remember anything and last but not least most experienced in pharmaceutical industry.

Absolutely terrible. Poor communication. Rarely have what you need and no communication on their part to inform you that the medication is not in their stock. Not until you arrive there do they inform you of that fact. This has happened time and time again. They are also rude and very unhelpful. Do NOT got there. I'm all for keeping small businesses in business but not them. You are better off going to bigger establishments such as CVS or Walgreens with bigger stock and much better protocols and communication. This place is poorly run and poorly organized.

Not sure what happened to this place, but they have become much less helpful in recent years. Today's issue has happened previously. My doctor called in a RX in the morning that I needed same day. I called to ask if it was ready at 3:15pm but was told it wasn't in stock & they had to order it so I could get it tomorrow after 11am. Why wouldn't you call me to tell me this? WTF? Who do you think you are that you can decide it's OK for me to wait another day to take a prescription I need today & NOT CALL ME TO LET ME KNOW? I asked if they could transfer it to another pharmacy as I needed this today so they agreed. I found another pharmacy down the block who had it. I called back Harpell who refused to call the other pharmacy to transfer it. They insisted that I had to call back the other & have them call Harpell. So helpful! Especially after not letting me know it was out of stock. Really rude. I'm changing all of my prescriptions to the one down block, where they are really nice & helpful. I'm disgusted with Harpells after 20+ years of being a loyal customer, they don't seem to care at all about customer service.

Horrible Horrible Playing with peoples lives. Don't go there. Explained my mom serious condition and if they were able to deliver a medication today Lady Sophia said Yes send script over which Walgreens did than they call you back and say oh low quantity on meds saving for our customers if you want send over all your moms scripts and we will fill. HORRIBLE

Fresh juice bar right in the drug store , I love it ! I had the Immune Booster which is a perfect cocktail for the change of the weather . The inside reminds me of the old school pharmacies where you receive personal service . Very clean inside with many things to browse while waiting .

I've never been made to feel so horrible before by having a prescription sent here.I was stereotyped, judged and made to feel like I'm doing something wrong just because my doctor prescribed me my consistent, monthly , very lose dose of pain medication. I understand that people have issues out there with addiction, but applying that stigma to everyone is unprofessional. It isn't bad enough that I have to live everyday in pain with rheumatoid arthritis (which was none of her business ) but now I have to try to explain why I'm prescribed this medication? This went beyond the usual questions that believe me by now I'm used to. She looked up my pharmacy and medication history on her computer with intentions to intimidate me, but when she realized I had a truthful answers about every question of my history she simply said she cannot fill it. I changed pharmacy bc my doctor's office preferred it since they had difficulty sending prescriptions to my last pharmacy. I even called them ahead of time and let them know I was switching over to them a few days prior in order to be aware of meds coming in. The funny thing in this situation is I actually REQUESTED MYSELF that my doctor lower my medication this month so I may get off of it finally. BUT the pharmacist questioned that also. I've never felt so humiliated in my life. I felt like I was treated like someone off the street looking for drugs. When I was there to fill a prescription from the same doctor I see every month who is well aware of the condition I have, the pain I'm in, and the surgeries I've been through. This woman degraded me, and I have no idea what I did wrong besides changing pharmacies per my doctor's request.

most convenient pharmacy since its closest to me.my boyfriend picked up my meds for me since I was too sick to do so myself. I was charged a "copay" which was nearly if not the full cost of the medication though my insurance covers generic brands 100%. I probably wont be going back there unless I absolutely cannot make it to another pharmacy.
