I have 4 old apartment buildings in Westchester County NY. After converting all to gas I needed to remove the oil tanks, but it took me 7 years to get it done. Barrier got rid of a tank in a basement in one location and in the last 2 days they removed 3 underground tanks that had been in the ground for 80 to 100 years. This was in one location on three adjacent houses. Two 550 gallon tanks were removed and one 1000 gallon tank was left in the ground and emptied. At that point they opened the bottom of the tank and soil samples were removed and tested. The inspector observed that there was no soil contamination. These are professional people who have been doing this for a long time. They handled the town inspection process, got the soil samples tested and took away the 2 tanks, filled in the holes and swept up the area. I recommend Barrier without reservation.

A little late for a review but Barrier/Wayne did a great job about ten-years-ago! Took out old underground tank by hand. No machines could get to the spot up on a hill. That was the easy part, for the new tank was placed in a tight spot (old closet) in the basement. They needed a giant shoe horn to get the new tank in and it was not easy. Everything went according to plan & price...even pulling the permits in Mt. Kisco. They even took care of the soil tests and sent them to a lab with quick turn around time. The new tank and all the fittings are still holding strong after ten years.

Wayne and his team saved the day for us as our oil tank needed to be pumped and it was not getting heat into the house. From the moment we talked to Wayne on we knew it was going to be ok. My husband and I will always be grateful for the responsive and compassionate service! What a gem!

Having an oil tank removed can feel like a daunting task. Not only did Wayne talk me through the process, he remained in communication with me from start to finish. It is rare to find a company that is great at the work and professional to the end. I highly recommend

Wayne is amazing! The best! Courteous, respectful, clear communicator, and very knowledgeable. I contacted him the night before I needed the scan explaining I needed a tank scan on a potential expedited purchase and he replied immediately! He was on the property the next morning and I had the report by the afternoon! He saved the day! Other companies I called were unable to assist me for weeks. His team was thorough and he was extremely informative, explaining all the possibilities. He was also very affordable and worth every penny. I highly recommend him without reservation.

After Wayne and his son charged my poor mom over $15,000 and her homeowners insurance got dropped...... the rear deck started falling off of the back of the house. The deck supports were near where the tank hole was dug. Wayne had assured us that the deck would not shift, and promised to come back and correct it if anything happened. Contacted multiple times and avoiding my phone calls. Now we are trying to sell the house and need to have the entire deck redone. The deck footings sank into the unpacked hole, which is now a foot recessed below the plane of the lawn. Beware of these guys, maybe they can install a tank indoors, but DON’T let them dig anywhere near your home! DON’T use the grey tanks outdoors!!! The tank is rusting after three years and the concrete slab has shifted and separated from the foundation of the house, guiding rainwater towards the foundation. It was not secured with anything, just some readymix crack filler. I’ll probably end up taking a few weeks off of work and fixing this myself. Insurance won't cover it again, and my mom can’t get involved in small claims while selling a house. We don’t have another 15k to spend on this right now. Start to finish, new slab, new deck footings, tamp the soil, grind and paint the weld sand fittings on the tank, repair the support joists. I’m not looking forward to it. You can see many pictures included. Proof is in the pictures.

Barrier Contracting was recommended to me. Call them once Wayne said he was going to send out email Quotes to me. I don't quite get that since you never saw the property and never made an appointment to see it but okay I still waited and never received anything. Two weeks later call again Wayne pics up tells me he'll call me right back that was days ago and it probably will be months ago. I would never do business with this company. I have no clue how they got good reviews anywhere just a heads up.
