March 2024 by shame on-u
I was on Petfinder and came across Alfredo. It did say that he was bonded with Fettucini-a cat at the facility. When I called to find out more info about Alfredo, the staff said that he wasn't there long and when they put him in the cat cages, due to his size, he bonded with Fettucini-a cat. Not thinking much of it, I filled out the app. A woman from the facility called me back and said they must be adopted together!
I love all animals and understand the bonding process does exist, but I'm so saddened and confused as to why they would not want to give Alfredo a home with another young dog his size. The way this woman talked, she made it sound like her partner whom dealt with the dogs, did not want to adopt Alfredo out. It was as if they want to keep him there in a cage forever! She said she deals with the cats, but her male partner deals with dog adoptions. Never have I ever heard of a dog and cat bonding at a shelter and having to therefore be adopted together! I can see if they came from a home, but a short stint in a cold shelter? Wow.... Shame.....

I love dogs and will always support all shelters. I agree with the application process and “by appointment only” is ok I guess. Not so sure if an online application being a must to be completed, before you can make an appointment to see dogs, makes for a best effort to find forever homes. Some older folks are not so savvy with computers. I guess older folks will find it very difficult to adopt a pet. Hope not. Happy Nee Year to all. :-)

Went there to adopt a rescue dog. Wind up adopting two rescue dogs. They took care of them very well. They brought the dogs to the veterinarian had them both examined and cleared for adoption for us. From what I seen, they really love what they do there. It doesn't seem like a job to them. They just like doing what they do. They rescue dogs and find them a nice home

We adopted our cars Peter pan and captain hook a few years ago. Turned out to be perfect fit for us and we always try and stop in and donate whatever the shelter needs to help the other cats and dogs that are there that aren't as lucky to fi d there forever home....really no fault of theirs, they are just victims and can be even more loving than store bought animals because they know how life goes and just want to make their owners happy and at the same time just want to be loved too
