Wonderful auction house. Beautiful items, well packaged and refreshingly reasonable shipping rates. Plus I was very appreciative of the help I received in their explaining the different Wedgwood blue color differences. I highly recommend them.

I will continue to use them. However, if you have the option to have items shipped it might be worth the money to do that. Picking up is awkward when there's not a single smiling face. They are all very busy in there I get that but even a simple "Hello" is answered with no response or grunts. Left there feeling blah . My bye have a nice day got a "yeah" response so I mean that was nice. I'm very empathic so maybe it's just me.

I regularly buy from auctions across the US and my experience with Mapes ranks up there with the best. Payment was easy. They shipped my lot in-house for a very low price and it arrived to me on the other side of the country within three business days. I was nervous about shipping since the item is quite fragile, but it was well-packed and looked just as pictured when I took it out of the box. After my item arrived, I called Mapes to get additional information about the object and Judy was nice enough to follow up and send along the details I'd requested. Great communication and service in an industry where costs to the buyer can be quite high and inquiries often never receive a response.

The auctioneer is rude when it comes to people skills he has none.

We are online re-sellers and have never left a review before. Mapes is an auction house that we will be buying from in the future! We bought a collection of Lladro pieces and they packaged our winnings and shipped them the next day for much less than we expected to pay. Buy with confidence they are great!

Local auctioneer just outside of Binghamton, NY who generally offers weekly sales with a mix of merely used items and some antiques/collectibles. Those who are more interested in old and rare do well to watch out for special sales which are usually announced and advertised in advance, otherwise regular sale information is posted online Friday evenings for the next Tuesday afternoon's sale. The group images on the internet are generally clear, but don't expect any individual catalog entries and be sure to carefully inspect each item yourself. On the plus side, however, you may find a diamond in the rough! This is a country-style auction so there is no announced sequence for the sale of most lots (although they do schedule certain lots for phone bidders); however, you can ask the runners to move up lot. Unfortunately, sometimes the crowd is less interested in bidding than talking, and the noise can make it difficult to hear the auctioneer even though he uses amplification. There is an active food concession selling at the back of the auction gallery (another source of noise!) and clean restrooms off the lobby.

One of the best auction galleries in the area. Definitely worth taking a visit.

Horrendous! My mother entrusted them with valuable antiques she had appraised and knew were worth some hundreds, others thousands of dollars. They sold the items between $10-$80 after ASSURING her they would start the bidding at value price. These were sentimental and well taken care of items that have been in the family since the early 1900's. We are debating legal action. If you have ANYTHING of value - do NOT ENTRUST MAPES Auction House! If I could them zero stars I would.

What a great place to find treasures old and new. One of the things I was most amazed about was being able to find not just cool antiques, but gently used furniture and household items. If you're moving or find yourself in need of an inexpensive way to outfit your new place, Mapes should be on the top of your list. Friendly crowd; helpful and fun staff; and a wonderful variety of items every week! As an extra bonus, they also serve up affordable and tasty dinners.

The entire staff at Mapes auction are amazing..They are always willing to answer any questions about any unique items. I have learned a lot from them and they treat everyone with respect. I enjoy spending an evening there because the staff make you feel at home and they appreciate our business.

Not really their fault but the auctioneer was very old and was the slowest person to ever do that profession
