We hired Keifer Randall to repair our home's exterior siding, fascia and gutters and couldn't be more disappointed. The fascia repair was done decently well but the siding and gutter repairs were severely lacking. The gutters were installed using straps that they secured into our rubber roofing. None of the nail holes were sealed. We brought this to the owners - Tim Keifer - attention and he instructed his crew to fix the issue. We found out after the job was complete that they sealed the nail holes where we could see them easily, but did not do so where we could not access. They lied to us about having completed this repair. In addition several of the gutters are pitched incorrectly. My biggest regret is hiring them to repair our cedar shake siding. We knew the house needed a fair amount of shakes replaced. Their estimator looked at the house with us and so did their subcontractor. We agreed on the scope and on the price. But after four trips out to the property to ‘fix’ the siding there were still shakes that were severely cupped and several that were just missing entirely. We paid our final invoice after Tim Keifer told us he would send us ‘consideration’ in the mail as he acknowledged the shoddy and incomplete work completed at our home. We never heard from him again. In summary, working with Tim Keifer was extremely disappointing and I would not recommend letting him or his company work on anyone's home. We were lied to several times about process, scope, the definition of damage, and what work would be completed. This is not a company that takes pride in their craft. I’d be surprised if they’re still in business next year.Services: General construction

We hired Kiefer Randall (KR) to do a remodel in our basement, which we were told by owner Tim Kiefer would take 3 weeks. The estimate was high, but we went with it, on the promise of high quality work and high standards and hoping that by hiring out, we would gain freedom from worry and hassle on this project. We paid KR over 90% of a project that cost as much as a full kitchen remodel. Tim Kiefer was in our home nearly daily supervising this project, yet the work that was completed was sub-par and we are now in the position to do the work ourselves and/or to hire contractors to fix and finish the work. He told us, before and when signing the contract that we would get daily updates from him or his team, yet we had to continually reach out to him to get updates or to bring up concerns. We were seriously disappointed in this company for the following reasons:The work that they did was not completed to a professional standard. Examples:Excessive and noted pockmarks in drywall on finished, painted walls.Walls that have visible tape marks and cracks.Walls that were literally painted without using lighting. Both glossy and matte paint were used on trim work.No attention to dust/dirt remediation until we insisted about 9 weeks into the project and even then it was minimal.Tim dropped the ball on several items that required coordination for the project (that’s why we were paying the high price), then blamed us for the issues. At 14 weeks we summarized in an email the issues we had raised with him (and added a few additional concerns). He responded with the following: “I no longer feel that our professional relationship should continue due to a breakdown in good faith and trust, and that we should part ways now before the relationship deteriorates further.” He attached a final bill with this message (for the last 10%), for unfinished work!Since KR left about 3 months ago, the bathroom in the project area flooded and we had to tear up the brand new flooring. We discovered that KR, instead of getting the correct parts to fit our toilet, used caulk to try to make it fit, resulting in a slow leak that built up over time! We reached out to KR informing them about this issue, and they didn’t respond at all.Not worth the money or the hassle!Services: General building construction

We hired Kiefer Randall (KR) to do a remodel in our basement (in the Southern Tier NY), which we were told by owner Tim Kiefer would take 3 weeks. The craftsman they sent to work on our kitchen remodel was fantastic. Since it was an unorthodox job, reusing reclaimed materials in an old house, it required careful consultation and creative thinking. The finished job was exactly what we envisioned. The quality of work was excellent, all company representatives were polite and responsive, and the workmen were punctual and cleaned up after themselves. Thanks for a great experience!Service: Kitchen remodeling

Last year my father was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. All he wanted was to spend his final months in his favorite part of his home - his den. Unfortunately there was no bathroom on that floor of the house and he was too weak to go upstairs to access the one there. We contacted Kiefer-Randall to see about putting in a small bathroom on that level of their home that my dad could access. In post-pandemic crazy times - Timothy Kiefer came by the house, sat with my dad and made a plan to construct a simple bathroom with a shower close by that he could access safely. Within a month, it was completed and this enabled him to live out the last few months of his life on his own terms with dignity. I can never thank Tim, Jim and their workers for their kindness and help during this really awful time. Their efforts in creating this addition so quickly was such a blessing to us and especially my dad. Not only do they do great work - they are even better people! <3

It was a positive experience. We’re very pleased with our new bathroom. They were professional, neat, & punctual. We had a time constraint & they completed the work on schedule.

Extremely unprofessional. If you're looking to get work done I recommend you find a company with genuinely nice people, not here.

Insanely aggressive and reckless driver. Almost ran multiple cars off the road for no reason.

I received a phone call back within hours of my call. Although they cannot take on any new work because of Covid 19 until after the first of the year, I can only say they made a wonderful impression on me-- consistent with the high marks I found for them on Angies List. Most of the calls I have made to contractors have not been returned. This is a nice company. I will call in January. Thank you

Our experience started with Tim Kiefer one of the owners of Kiefer-Randall coming to our home to give a estimate, he provided proof of insurance for his company and his employees no sub contractors were utilized. He also provided references. Tim spent a large amount of time with us, looking at what needed to be done, he also took time to look at our home and our style. Once the plan was completed he dealt with the insurance adjuster and suppliers. This took so much pressure off of us. Tim supplied us with a physical address for his company, as well as his phone numbers in the event that we needed him day or night. My husband has been involved in the construction business for over forty years he is the one who originally built our home. I have been involved with construction for over thirty years, We have never witnessed a owner of a large company supply customers with home phone numbers . The team arrived on the first day, after that we really only needed one installer. The slate tile flooring and marble tiles for the walls are perfection. The shower unit ( all glass) and the vanity looks and works wonderfully. I would recommend Kiefer-Randall for any project. We will be remodeling our kitchen soon, this is the only company that we will utilize. They may be a little more expensive than the guy in a pickup truck, but their quality and guarantee is worth it. If you would like pictures, we would be happy to provide them.

I've used K-R for construction, exterior work - masonry, etc. Very professional, very responsive, fair prices and they handle problems promptly and to your reasonable satisfaction. Very solid choice. Good people, honest people and well worth the price. No question.
