Welcome to ShopRite Uniondale: Where the only thing higher than the prices is the paranoia
If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to buy groceries inside a maximum-security correctional facility, look no further than ShopRite in Uniondale. This place doesn’t just discourage theft—they’ve basically declared psychological warfare on their own customers.
Before you even get through the front door, you’re greeted by a barrage of signs that feel more like warnings at a border checkpoint than anything resembling customer service. Restrictions on the bags you can bring into the store! All bags subject to search! And more unwelcoming messaging posted all over! You half expect a TSA agent to pop out and swab your hands for explosives before you can grab a cart.
And don’t even think about picking up a cake without a receipt first. Need a birthday cake for your kid? Great—just go through this bureaucratic bake-sale paperwork chase first.
The whole vibe screams “you are not trusted here.” It’s like they built the place under the assumption that every customer is one coupon away from turning into a hardened criminal. You’d think someone tried to smuggle out a rotisserie chicken in their jacket once and now we all have to live like this.
I understand wanting to prevent theft—but there’s a difference between being security-conscious and running your grocery store like a gulag. If you treat every customer like a suspect, don’t be surprised when people start shopping elsewhere. Somewhere with, you know, dignity.
In short: unless you enjoy being treated like a shoplifting toddler skip ShopRite Uniondale. There are better places to buy cereal that don’t involve a background check!

Lots of choices different brands as well as their own store brands. Good selection of meat at good prices. ShopRite of Uniondale carries a wide variety of baking supplies that very few other stores carry including a selection of yeast and different flours. This is actually a fun store to shop in. They have the best music too

I might just switch to Bethpage from now on. Sale items are often sold out, even right when the sale starts. The produce section is not good. If it's not already moldy on the shelf, it will be shortly after you get it home. Stocking is a major issue in this store regardless of the day or time. Customer service is not good to terrible. They will interrupt you mid sentence and just transfer you without hearing what you need or telling you why they are transferring. I was also given the store's corporate service line instead of customer service and had to find it on my own. And the answer to my question took 5 seconds and should've been something the store could've answered. Instead I was randomly passed around and caused stress for no reason. The online ordering system is also crap. It shouldn't let you check out and be charged if the time slot expired and is not going to complete the order. If this store wasn't so close, I would never step foot in there again. And no, this isn't new. It's been a mess since the owners took over years ago and just seems to get worse all the time. Corporate really needs to take the reins.

I like the fruits and vegetables from this supermarket because they are always fresh and of good quality. I buy a lot for my two businesses because of the quality of the product, but since I buy a lot and I am always in a hurry, I find it difficult to pay due to the lack of cashiers on two occasions and I have had problems with one that controls the automatic transmissions. But this time it happened, it embarrassed me so much that he didn't want to help me. The store only had two cashiers, the waiting line was long, I didn't want to wait because I had customers in my business waiting for the product. I went to the automatic checkouts and the person who controls the checkouts stood in front of me and told me, you can't pay online here. I told him I don't have time to wait, I will only pay the amount that the system requires. He told me not to go to the line. I repeated, I can't wait, and I told him then I will only take two pineapples and I will send for the rest. I repeated myself again. He bothered the line. I didn't pay attention to him and started paying for the two pineapples. He stood in front of the computer and every time I wanted to pay he wouldn't let me and told me I'm going to call security so I left the product and left the store then entered. I went back to the store because I needed the product with another person, maybe it was up to him if I let him pay for the two pineapples, but when we entered he had already put more cashiers and I ended up filling the entire purchase since I needed it and I didn't want to waste the time it had taken in collect it. The biggest problem was not so much the lack of cashiers because the hours were slow at 8:25 pm, but rather the lack of a good boss and a person better trained in customer service in the automatic checkout area. This person embarrassed me, he was not interested in the store selling but rather in enforcing the law that is imposed there. It is unfortunate because it is a supermarket that I have Serca and their prices are reasonable, which helps me when I am not short of the products they supply me with. I run suppliers there so as not to lose sales and please my dear clients.

I used to shop at and work for Uniondale ShopRite before I moved from NY. Their customer service was amazing and I loved shopping there with my children.
However, I have to say that for the 5/6 years I’ve been gone the great, friendly service I used to receive has declined. 90% percent of the employees have an attitude, they don’t smile, and they act like they don’t want to be there. Some can’t answer questions because they don’t speak English. Their phone etiquette is complete trash. What happened to y’all? As a past long term customer, I’m completely disgusted and disappointed.
I also wanted to note that the pizza used to be the best but the one we ordered today was extremely soggy and tasted like vomit.

A Pleasant Surprise at ShopRite - Kudos to Customer Service!
I visited my local ShopRite store, excited to take advantage of the sales advertised in their weekly circular. However, upon arriving at the shelf, I noticed a discrepancy in the pricing. The circular listed a higher sale price, but the sticker price on the item was actually lower!
I thought to myself, "This could go either way..." and decided to bring it to the attention of the customer service team. To my delight, they not only acknowledged the error but also honored the lower price without hesitation!
I was impressed by the efficiency and friendly demeanor of the customer service representative, who quickly resolved the issue and ensured I received the correct price. It's clear that ShopRite prioritizes customer satisfaction and values our business.
This experience has reinforced my loyalty to ShopRite, and I appreciate their commitment to accuracy and transparency in their pricing. Great job, ShopRite team! Keep up the excellent work! 5 stars!

I've always enjoyed going to this ShopRite. Having the pizza shop in there is very unique. In addition to that their selection of Cheeses and Kosher Items is top tier. Five stars.

I will not be shopping here anymore!!! Every time I come here I get watched like a hawk !! I’m offended as a black woman I can’t shop in peace, without being treated like a thief. This place needs better protocol for their security and employees your suppose to watch people who look SUSPICIOUS!!!! I’ll bring my hard earned money else where. You lost a customer let’s see how that affects your inventory!!!
