Go to one of their Summer Friday viewings on a clear night with a new moon. You won't regret it.

Wow! What a thrilling experience we had attending a Friday night sky viewing. The organizers were all extremely helpful and friendly, and the astronomer made understanding the stars, planets and nebulas fun. We were able to see the ring nebula, Saturn and its rings, a view of Jupiter and it's moons, and a binary star system through the telescope. They had the field viewing area outlined with red lights which made the ambience so serene and beautiful while gazing at the stars and constellations. We very much enjoyed some of the Greek mythology that accompanies many constellations that the astronomer outlined for all of us. It was a blast for me as an adult so it must be absolutely magical for kids. If you live in the area or are here on vacation looking for something to top off your day of adventure in the Adirondacks, this is a must go! Thank you again to everyone at the sky center for putting this together!!

The Sky Center and Observatory offers family-friendly star-gazing evenings that are informative and a wonderful way to disengage from devices and appreciate Adirondack nature. We found the staff to be helpful and accommodating and we plan to return.

What a great place for the observatory, we were able to see Saturn and it's rings ,Jupiter and it's 4 moons. Great experience for both young and old. The people there are very informed .

very unpleasant experience for many families that drove more than 5 hours to attend an event --- only to find out the event was cancelled at last minute. its in a forest with very little sky showing overhead. very loud campers next door were drinking, partying loud and spinning their motorboat in the water with no lights. not a good experience at all.

The observatory is a gem tucked away in the Tupper Lake area! Who knew Tupper Lake had some of the darkest skies on the east coast?! It's full of friendly people who are enthusiastic about the skies above us, and are eager to share their knowledge with the public. On Friday nights during the summer when they do stargazing! (So long as the weather is nice, you can join their email list to get updates if conditions are iffy.) The roof rolls off of the observatory building, and there's a warming room in case it gets chilly! Would definitely recommend for anyone visiting the area.
