I can’t remember ever dealing with a more professional and caring company in my life.
From my initial inquiry through our move and even after, everyone in this firm was absolutely fantastic. The quote was fair and comprehensive - prices out to our new home and a storage location broken down and explained to me completely.
The quality of service was amazing. We had our move scheduled for a Monday morning, and the night before my mom had a stroke and I had to postpone at 9:30pm on a SUNDAY. Ron was so supportive and understanding. The reschedule was smooth and they made themselves available on my schedule.
Now, for the actual move, the 5 men who moved us were some of the nicest people I’ve ever met. Moving is (was) a LONG day and these men made it fun and a good experience. They went above and beyond.
Finally, I would be failing in my review if I didn’t mention Shakira (hope I spelled that right!) in the office. She is an absolute doll and so very good at her job. She was knowledgeable and so sweet.

Just wanted to share my experience with Direct Moving and Storage. I recently made the big move from New York to Los Angeles, and these guys made it a breeze. Seriously, from the get-go, they were super professional and helpful. They took great care of all my stuff, making sure nothing got damaged along the way.

“We just had the most wonderful moving experience with Nippon Express Seattle and Nippon Express USA New York/New Jersey (aka "Nittsu"), who handled our 3-bedroom house move from Seattle to New York! From the initial walk-through and planning to moving-out day to move-in day, we couldn't be happier or more impressed with Nittsu's care, efficiency, thoroughness, customer service, and understanding of our needs. I would give them 10 stars if possible! Let me mention by name three of the excellent staff who helped us. Mr. Hattori is the regional Seattle manager, and he was simply wonderful every step of the way. If I could recommend or vote for any kind of bonus or "Manager of the Year" award for anyone, he'd be my guy. My second vote would go to his field supervisor, Mr. Koji. When they walked through our home to take our inventory and measurements, etc., their comments and questions signaled that they knew what they were doing. Some items needed special care and packing, which was handled beautifully. For example, we have a vintage 10-foot-long dining room credenza with 2 heavy and brittle 1" thick slate tops. Mr. Hattori commissioned special wooden padded crates to be built to hold them during the transport cross-country. They arrived in perfect condition, thank you! Ms. Miyauchi was the New York office Nittsu staff who supervised the delivery operation, and she was just wonderful and attentive every step of the way. We had some last minute delivery schedule changes to deal with (not Nittsu's issue), but Ms. Miyauchi and Mr. Hattori were very gracious and efficient in helping us, thank you! This was actually the third time my Japanese wife and I have used Nippon Express for domestic cross-country U.S. moves. Each of these moves was bigger and more complicated than the one before, but each time, they come through with a plan and execution that exceed our expectations. Their quotes are toward the higher end to begin with, but for the peace of mind and attention that they bring to an admittedly anxiety-provoking situation, they are worth it! Thank you, thank you, thank you, Nittsu!”

Oz's quote was actually significantly higher than other companies I contacted but I decided to go with the company I had a track record with and am glad I did. Four (not five) stars for two reasons: first, they sent an extra person who was obviously a trainee, but I felt I had to tip them anyway; second, two pieces of furniture got dinged but Oz quickly arranged for repairs because I bought extra insurance. One restorer (Kevin) just left and did an exceptional job on the damaged nightstand. Awaiting the return of my drop-leave table but I am confident it will be great.”
