Being a frequent traveler, I’ve become accustomed to paying a lot of drop in rates only to find gyms weren’t open when I needed them, or didn’t have the right equipment. I began training at Blood Iron Barbell due to their unique selection of strongman equipment and quickly found it to be one of the most supportive lifting environments in Syracuse. The flexibility in hours and value that I get from the equipment and environment quickly made me realize I should sign up as a member. I highly recommend this gym, if it’s for an occasional drop in or something more, you won’t regret it.

In a time of pretty and comfortable, new fitness facilities Blood Iron Barbell is a slap the face wake up call to the reality of weight training. Old school feel with experience and history in not only the gym but the WR holder owner Rheta West. If you are serious about training whether it be powerlifting in the separate back power room, strongman in the 315 room, or bodybuilding strength training in the main room this gym is where you want to train in CNY. Oh they have cardio equipment too ?

Called to ask how much each month. They told me 60 dollar. That’s unheard-of and completely ridiculous. I just moved here and I have been trying different GYMs. So far I tried two but decided I call this one. I’m sorry but no GYM is worth that much. Personally I think 30 a month is pushing it. Good luck with your business.

easily one of the most unique best gym I’ve been too. They have it all with turf for training as well all the free weights and machines you would ever need. I travel for work and this is the best old school gyms. Very friendly also.

One of the best gyms in the state if not the whole east coast. Specialty bars, platforms, dumbbells to 200 lbs, strongman equipment, turf, monolifts, huge variety of machines. Great atmosphere and can't recommend enough.

Blood Iron Barbell is not Hercules Gym, be aware that these are actually photos of Hercs and are misrepresented. The positive reviews are from Herc as well and should not be on this page.

I have a service dog and was doing a leg workout one day when the gym was completely empty. Some fake trainer guy name Joe who claimed he owns the gym, came in with his german shepard who was not on a leash and allowed it to harrass my 7lb toy fox terrier. Joe then preceded to harrass me several times and interupt my workout after asking him to leave me alone. He kept telling me I had to take my service dog out of the gym or lock him in Joes office. I came in to workout one day and they turned off my door pin # to get in and had my name as Joe in the system, not Jon my real name. A staff member told me I was canceled due to Joe and that the owner was not here to discuss it with. I left and went right to my car and sat in the parking lot and called the owner. She lied and said she was in the gym lol. She also told me that shes known this clown "joe" for a long time and as far as shes concerned his story is fact. When I wrote a review on hercules fb page i was called a liar and insulted by the owner and her coward members who were not even there and think there tough guys. She then had the review deleted. Well clowns lets see you delete this one. I will not stop speaking the truth. Especially since they are supposed to have "open " competitions and the members are afraid of new strong people that aren't in their little punk cirlces of friends. Whatcha gona do except lie and talk on fb? Nothin

Going to Hercules gym was a breath of fresh air. Quick and easy sign in for a day pass. No judgment. No rude people. Just an big space with great equipment. Tons of strongman and athletic equipment. Deadlift platforms and competition style squat racks. Ample dumbbells and machines. The staff was friendly and you can tell they really care about providing a great place to train. I will be sure to stop here for my workouts when I'm in the area in the future.

Rheta and Pete are tremendous owners. There's plenty of opportunity to learn and grow. Equipment is well maintained and the space is amazing. Great place to train.
