Railroad Ave Car Care is a professional automotive maintenance and repair shop with a big heart that serve its customers to their satisfactory! I was there on an early September evening to have them replace an oil cooler line for my Lexus RX 350. For many owners of 2011 or earlier model years of Siennas, Venzas, and Highlanders with the 2GR-FE engine, you may have heard about this job already.
I live in Queens. I was in Syosset to visit my brother and tried to do the replacement job on my own in his backyard. But after six hours of struggle, it proved to be a job too much for a DIYer without a lift to handle. Upon my giving up on it, my brother recommended me to take the car to the mechanics in Railroad Ave Car Care, because he had good experiences with them. So, we took my car to the shop at 6:15 pm. We had a pleasant conversation with Bob the owner and his associate, Mike. They gave me the impression of being knowledgeable and serious about helping me out. So I left the shop with the expectation that I would get my car back sometime the next day. I went back to my brother's house to pick up one of his cars so I could drive home to Queens. As I finished with washing up and packing my belongings, at 6:45 pm, my phone rang. It was Bob. He informed me that the repair job was done and I could come over to pick up my vehicle. To my pleasant surprise, he told me the cost of the repair was much less than I originally expected. I was very happy to pick up my car before 7 pm. They did a very good job - there was no oil leaks after a week. In addition, they were friendly and considerate, saving me from making another trip to come back to them from Queens on another day! For that I paid them extra money, enough to cover a few beers!
In conclusion, I would come back to Railroad Ave Car Care for future repair jobs even as a Queens resident. So, if you live in Syosset and you are looking for an auto repair and care service shop that is professional, honest, speedy, and low cost, you owe it to yourself to check out Bob's place!

Honestly best service I have had with a car care company. They helped me with all my needs and gave me the exact info I needed for the future in case my car ends up in the same position it was in when I brought it in. 5 stars all around thank you!

At the very least, this is negligence. At the worst....judge for yourself. I brought my car in 9/5/21 to check a squeaky noise on the front left wheel whenever I hit a big bump. Bobby told me the front suspension is broken and needs to be changed. And why not change the back suspension too because it will likely be needed when the next 1-2 oil change comes due. Charge: $2000+. I said ok. When I picked up the car the next day, it didn't ride right. The front squeaky noise was gone but every time I hit bumps, metallic rattling noises came off from the rear. I called him the next morning and he said bring the car in and he'll check. I was busy and I said, I'll ride it some more and see if it improves. It did not. 3 weeks later, 9/30/21, I brought it back to him. I picked it up same afternoon and he said he looked at it thoroughly and nothing was wrong. The next day, I rode the car through the highway and there, the brakes made a chugging sound when I stepped on it and would not stop completely until after 3 attempts at the pedal. I called him at work and he said bring it in. I was 17 miles away . I attempted to drive it back to Syosset but gave up about 3 blocks away. There was a resistance when I stepped on the accelerator, and when it moved, the car would lurch forward. When I hit the brakes, again, it made a chugging noise and would not stop until the 3rd attempt. This was not safe. I called him and he offered to send a tow truck. He said towing will be free but if there were other repair costs, of course those were not. Thankfully, an honest local mechanic looked and said the brake calipers were locked. The calipers were all broken up and were not bolted in properly. The mechanic fixed that and the rattling metallic noises that appeared after Bobby's work all disappeared after more adjustments were made. The tire rim was broken too from the broken calipers. Bobby said, quite sarcastically, that calipers do break. But.., Why would this happen one day after he checked it out? At the very least, this was negligence. At the worst, what would you call it if I brought it back to him and again got hit with a zillion other problems that were not there in the first place and got billed for it? At the very worst, what would you call it when you lose your brake capacity on a highway and get killed? Judge for yourself.
