After my dog was bitten by another much larger dog. We were in a panic and decided to take him to the nearest facility Syosset animal hospital. We were able to get them in there and we're happy with the service. I forwarded the bill to my dogs vet who got upset when he saw what we were charged. He said they did everything he would've done except they charged you double. I called Syosset Animal Hopsital to find out why there was such a discrepancy and they gave me excuses and basically a bunch of BS. After voicing my disappointment at their obvious fleecing the lady said I'm sorry you feel that way. I told her I was sorry she felt that way, and that she will never see us again. Avoid this hospital at all COST! There are so many great places around who will not absolutely rip you off. Find another.

My husband found Syosset Animal Hospital from an online Google search. Our goldendoodle puppy, Charlie, has been going since he was 8 weeks old. Dr. Gothelf has been with me every step of the way as Charlie is my first dog. He is very thorough, attentive, and honest with his recommendations. He doesn't charge for every little thing and is really nice/friendly when handling Charlie. Charlie actually likes going to the vet and doesn't want to leave! Dr. Gothelf performed Charlie's neuter and dewclaw surgery. Charlie came home with a cone and his hind legs were bandaged up. He didn't have any complications or infections post-surgery and recovered within a week and a half. Syosset Animal Hospital also had a Halloween event and we were able to bring Charlie in his pirate costume to get a bag filled with treats and a toy. It was his first time trick-o-treating and he still plays with his toy! Overall, Syosset Animal Hospital is a great place to bring your pet for preventatives, surgery, or Halloween!

My brother found this place through a colleague. I was in need of a good vet. My dogs are like my children so i dont trust just anyone. I have to say my consultation with dr G was great. He reminded me of my vet who i had before. Yes i have a lot of dogs but i do look for someone to be honest with me. Im not looking for a vet that charges for everything. He really helped me out by letting me know who needed what and who didnt so i can save some money. Much appreciated and hope to continue to use his services for the future. Office people are very nice as well. Its far for me but ill make the drive for my dogs

I took my dog for exam and blood test for spaying consultation. I had called them and give them all the information about the dog age and weight. After visitation without letting me know while I was waiting in my car they did two different blood test which was additional expense without asking? was that really necessary????? and they changed the spaying price way to high and they give a range.... I just wished they're more reasonable. Not fear after I spend before surgery $300. I'm not sure about this place! Checked others reviews too.

My 9 month old Havanese boy has been cared for By Syosset Animal Hospital since he was 8 weeks old. The doctors are caring and take the time to explain everything from vaccines, food, exercise, and prevention. This is a wonderful animal clinic.

I'm a little upset. I feel like there prices are very high for a vet but I took my kitten for what I thought was a second distemper shot. They came out and got the kitten from the car and no one ever called me until it was time to pay. Astonished by the price of 1 shot, when I saw the receipt, they actually charged me for a vet visit which if my kitten saw the vet, why didn't anyone call me and go over the visit? And aside from that, they gave my kitten a rabies vaccine without my permission or knowledge. When I called after the visit to express my concerned the vet told me that the shot was already in my cat and they couldn't take it back. I will be searching for a new vet.

The only reason why this place deserves two stars is because of its very kind front desk employees. i have been here on multiple occasions & no matter what the situation they have always been kind & helpful. i brought my dog here for a routine checkup & was told that she needed a few tests done, which were astronomically priced. I got them done anyway, and didn't get the results back until two weeks later. I was told that she had certain issues that ended up costing me nearly two grand in pills and more appointments. After a month of this i went to see another doctor at a much cheaper price and was told that she was not sick to the degree i was originally told, and that i did not need to do half of the things that was originally recommended. Long story short - syosset animal hospital capitalizes off of pet owners emotions to make a profit, so look somewhere else to find a much cheaper and genuine option for your pet care.

I am really grateful for the support and excellent medical care I have gotten with Dr Gothelf and the team at Syosset Animal hospital. First, with my cat Duke, Dr G was really instrumental in helping him in his later years, for a check in here or there, making sure he was comfortable as he aged. I could not be more grateful. When I got my new kitten Didier, the team helped me get him in a healthy routine for his chronic condition. I always know that when I call they are willing to help, and they will return a call, because they love my kitties as much as I do. I am so grateful for their care and support on this journey with me, I feel lucky to have found a vet who is willing to get to know my animals and make sure they have individualized attention. I couldn't recommend more highly.

Have been waiting on an X-ray report on my dog since few days. Xray was taken on 5/26/19 and till 5/29/19 later afternoon and still no Xray report as I want to go for a second opinion to a different Vet. If you have a lot of money to spend and not get satisfactory care take your pet here. Coleen at the desk was very unsympathetic and who does not want to do anything to help patients. Upon me calling her several times on 5/29 throughout the course of the day just to get an Xray report for my dog was very upsetting, cause all she kept telling me "we are very busy and it will be sent as soon as possible." Even after my dog spending an overnight visit at the hospital on the night of 5/26 and we were assured he had no ticks we discovered 2 more ticks on him after we bought him home. We spent almost 1200.00 dollars between 2 days and yet this kind of service. Not even an apology from whoever is responsible to manage this facility. Will never visit this facility again....I wish I can give 0 stars!!

I cannot begin to describe how thankful I am to Dr. Gothelf and his team. I had recently moved to the area when my dog Major was attacked and was seriously injured. I myself was hurt trying to breakup the fight. I called several clinics before finding Syosset Animal Hospital who gave me the green light to bring Major in. We must have looked insane, I was covered in blood and still bleeding and my dog Major - who is a 90 pound staffie - was hurt badly. The reception team didn't even bat an eye, they got Major in a room and Dr. Gothelf and his tech came in to assess the extent of Majors injuries. They didn't judge us or make assumptions that he had been responsible for the fight, they were efficient and compassionate. They determined he needed to stay for a few days for treatment. Major has been my service dog for 5 years, I've never really been without him. I was so scared and upset that he wouldn't make it home. Dr. Gothelf told me that I just needed to take care of myself because he would take care of Major. In that moment, it was exactly what I needed to hear. Major stayed for 4 days. The techs sent me pictures and when I called (everyday) they were communicative and upfront in terms of cost, treatment plans and after care. They also were very responsive when I called with follow up questions. That day was truly one of the most difficult, I was convinced that my dog was dying. The team at Syosset Animal Hospital did everything they could to take care of my dog and he is almost at 100% again. These people are the real deal. I am so incredibly great full for their knowledge, professionalism and compassion.

Me and my boyfriend brought in our kitten a few weeks ago for a consultation and the vet said we had to test him because his gums seemed a little swollen. They did 2 tests (which when we brought him to a different vet said the tests were completely unnecessary) our first visit should have been free, but costed us $400. We asked how much his declaw and neuter would be and they told us $950. I understand the procedure is in humane but all our other cats don't have claws and he's starting to bully them and us. We found Mid Island Animal Hospital to do the procedure for $325. Syosset Animal Hospital is way too over priced

Where do I begin. Our family went through one of the most difficult times with our chocolate lab. Our little boy had experienced 3 seizures in 6 hours and we were so distraught. We were turned away from our veterinarian of almost a decade and didn't know where else to turn. A friend of ours recommended this animal hospital. We had called ahead and upon our arrival we were met outside by Dr. Silverstein and her team. They were so amazing and helpful in our time of need. In the end we had to put our little boy to sleep rather than him suffer any longer. The staff of the animal hospital made the process and difficulty of this situation easier. The staff has such wonderful bedside manner and we will be forever grateful. We will be switching from our current vet to this facility. Amazing service, Bedside manner and empathy. Thank you.

I highly recommend Syosset Animal Hospital. Both doctors have been thorough, knowledgeable and extremely compassionate in the care of my very sick cat and the entire office team is top-notch.
