Matt was amazing to work with. He transformed our 2 yo female Doberman from good to amazing with a 3 week board and train. Our dog is more calm, seriously obedient, is totally reliable off leash, and seems more relaxed with the whole world. She still has her high drive and loves to work, but no longer seems confused about what, specifically, I am asking of her. She now seems to understand exactly what I want her to do, and she does it with enthusiasm. The way Matt trained us when we visited was wonderful. Matt also communicated with us very reliably and effectively throughout the whole process. For us to get to Matt and back home, it was an 8 hour round trip drive, but worth every minute of it. This is a man who is devoted to and passionate about giving dogs an opportunity to live their best life, part of which is to give them the right kind of and right amount of work to do, and rewarding them for doing it. We would pursue working with Matt again in a heartbeat, for sure.Jeff and Kris Lewis

Matt is extremely friendly and a pleasure to work with. He is very knowledgeable and patient, and has had a positive impact on our life. Our 3 year old pit mix is much more relaxed and truly changed in just about a month. I would highly recommend Alert Canine Training Solutions to anyone looking to better their dog. He uses a balanced approach of positive reinforcement and consequence to give your pup immediate feedback. Our guy absolutley loved Matt and is now much calmer and confident!

Truly the trainer to go to if your dog is having issues or of need of training. Matt is very friendly and personable. He has a serious, exceptional gift for communicating with and training dogs. He's completely changed our perspective of how capable our 7 month year old Australian Shepherd is for obedience training. We saw results on day 1 and have been training with Matt ever since. We will continue to go to him for a very long time. He also provides a suite of services such as board and training for your pup! I have a strong willful 60 lb puppy, who I took to several puppy classes. Luckily I ran into two dog owners in New Canaan who noticed I was having problems with leash walking. (and some nipping too) They recommended Matt, and he was the right person at the right time for me and my puppy. its obvious he truly loves dogs, and understands everyone will have a better life when they have more confidence and consistency. Matt quickly "gets" both the dog and the human, and treats both with kindness and respect. I immediately knew I could trust him completely, and my puppy absolutely adores him. I will go back for necessary tune ups (probably more for me!) I would feel totally comfortable leaving my dog with him too. So grateful.

Matt is an awesome dog trainer and has loads of patience with me. My daughter's golden retriever who is 21 months old now is doing quite well under the guidance and training that Matt is giving to both Max and myself. My dog Loki went to Matt for the month long board and train program. A few weeks after the training there was an incident where several dogs got off their leash and got in her face. Because of the training she received she was calm about it and she did nothing- which is important since she is a large dog. It's a great feeling to know that she is trained and i can trust in her reactions even if i cannot trust in other people's dogs being trained and having manners.

Matt was fantastic with our 8 month old Bernese Mountain Dog puppy. He was starting to resource guard stolen things (diapers, socks, plastic bags). It was dangerous for him and for us trying to take things from him. He also did not outgrow his teething mouthiness and was greeting us excitedly with his mouth leaving lots of scratches and bruises. We knew we needed help. Monte did a 30 day board and train with Matt. He’s been home 6 days and is finally a joy to live with. He is doing well with his heel, place, stay, sit, leave it, and critically, drop. We just went back for our first owner/dog follow up training session and our pup was so excited to see Matt after 6 days apart.

Matt turned our 6 month old German Shorthaired Pointer into our DREAM dog! He took her high energy and drive and channeled it into a well-trained, responsive, and well-mannered dog. He gave both our dog, and us, as owners, the tools to succeed through his extensive knowledge and willingness to answer any and all questions we might have. We are so lucky for the gift that Matt has given us, which is a well-trained dog that we will cherish always!

I took my adopted dog Maggie to training with Alert Canine Training Solutions and I couldn't be happier with the results. Matt is kind, patient and very clear in helping owners with their new dogs. I'd never taken a dog to training before so this was all new to me and it's amazing to see the results. Maggie is a lot happier and calmer now in our house.

Matt is an amazing trainer! I would definitely recommend him as a trainer. My boyfriend and I have a Siberian Husky who had major behavioral problems. He would not listen at all. He was constantly eating the furniture, jumping on everyone and everything, he didn’t listen when it was time to come inside and I would eventually have to carry him in the house, and he would cry and scream when it was time to put him in the crate if we were leaving or going to bed. We didn’t know what to do but after looking for trainers, we came across Matt’s website. After meeting with him and having him go over a few training techniques with our puppy, we knew he would be a big help. When we got the puppy back, we could see a huge change in his behavior. When Matt started his training, our puppy was 6 months old. He is now 13 months and is still just as great as when we got him back. He listens on the first command, there’s no longer a struggle to come inside or go in his crate, and now he understand were the boss.
