Duane Reade Pharmacy is a pleasure! The Pharmacy Technicians are extremely helpful and efficient - going the extra mile to provide information and excellent service efficiently and with a smile. The Pharmacists are also customer-service oriented, willing to answer any questions and perform research as necessary. Even though it's a little further from my house, I switched all my prescriptions and my husband's presciptions here (from CVS Setauket) - and very glad I did!

Switched after many issues. Last straw was they didn’t fill my prescription that I needed immediately because it wasn’t under my insurance . When I went the next day they never filled it never called me to see if I wanted to pay for it. They didnt do anything. I needed this medication and they couldn’t just call me I would have paid no problem. Don’t understand

My wife was told to "come back tomorrow" for a simple Amoxicillin prescription sent at 10 AM. Not the first time this has happened. I've been told by the staff my Rx would be ready in an hour, I go there 3-4 hours later and they tell me to come back in another hour. The staff is HORRIBLE, stay far away from this pharmacy. Would give 0 starts if I could.

Just the facts: Saturday 6/8/24 entered store at 8:58 AM, Pharmacy does not open till 9:00 AM. 9:03 Person shows up spends 5 -6 minutes opening up screen to Pharmacy. 9:15 takes customers out of order. 3 other “pharmacist” sit around talking while 3-4 customers waiting. 9:20 AM I leave. Monday 6/10/24 move account to CVS, contact corporate office. Stay away from this place, next pharmacy to go out is Duane Reade!

Pharmacy was miserable, walk In the store and it smell disgusting borderline unbearable I was gagging. The employees were so rude, first they gave me a hard time because my daughter who I’m picking up a prescription for has a different last name than myself because I’m not married. My original prescription was supposed to be picked up somewhere else but the store unexpectedly was closed so I had to have meds forwarded to Duane Reade and they seemed extremely inconvenienced by customers coming in with this issue. They told me I’d be the last customer they would take before lunch and then they didn’t take me and closed the pharmacy. Staff is absolutely miserable and lacks communication skills.

Would rate zero stars if I could. I had to go without my medication for 3 months because they refused to actually speak with my doctor about prior authorization and keep allowing the prescription to expire because it was a controlled substance. They lied to my face saying they had already talked to my doctor when they definitely hadn't, and I know the doctor wasn't the problem because when I switched to Costco it was ready within a few days. I gained so much weight and had horrible mental health issues from this that caused me to have to withdraw from my university because I couldn't get my medication. I also believe this was discriminatory as I am a transgender person and I believe they may have been withholding my hormone replacement medication from me to stop my transition. I am considering legal action because the harm to me was so grievous. DO NOT USE THIS PHARMACY

Over the past few years this particular pharmacy has really taken a sharp decline in customer service. After having same-day surgery at Stony Brook Hospital, I went to Duane Reade for pain medicine for severe post-operative pain. In short, the white-haired elderly woman working at the pharmacy counter (pharmacy tech?) was indifferent and heartless. Rather than offering some sort of solution, all she told me was that even if the prescription gets ordered, she won't have time to fill it because there is not enough staff (just her and the pharmacist) and there are other prescriptions that need their attention. There was till close to 2 hours left open for business. She demonstrated no interest in helping a customer (aka patient) obtain the much needed medicine to control pain. I wasn't waiting for cholesterol medicine or an antihistamine or cough syrup, etc., something that could wait. I had very severe post-op pain and all she could offer was for me to come back tomorrow. Well, in the end after two phone calls with the hospital, and two visits to the pharmacy, I did eventually get my pain medicine. But I had to do all the work. And being told that you, as the pharmacy tech, are too busy to fill my prescription left a very deep dissatisfied impression I have with this store. It's unreliable. I'm going somewhere else for my prescriptions now.

I really hope with one goes out of business the worst pharmacy you can ever imagine. The prices in the store are crazy expensive. There is no way this is going to last.

I VERY RARELY WRITE REVIEWS!!!!!!PLEASE TAKE YOUR TIME TO READ THIS¡******* THE PHARMACY **********As a patient that has been dealing with mental health issues, for over a decade and then some. I've been to well over 30 different pharmacys throughout. Some good, some I don't even know how they're allowed to operate!! I found my solace at the stop&Shop pharmacy in Ronkonkoma. Very knowledgeable and very polite.** Duane Reade**I stumbled upon this pharmacy, after spending 8 plus hours! calling different establishments throughout long Island.I don't know every one there as I just started using them. But the pharm tec, I believe his name was Steve. He was very polite, compassionate, understanding. I feel as if he genuinely enjoys his job.I would like to note money for me sometimes get tight. And he helped me as much as possible to help me afford my medication.Yes it is a little bit more expensive than other places, but in my opinion it's worth it every time.

Multiple occasions when the pharmacist was rude, put prescriptions back the same day, so they had to refill them, then refuse to do so because it was within 30 minutes of closing time. Find a better location to refill prescriptions
