Exorbitant rent for 4 person shared apartments which are in disrepair and run by an office which is incompetent at its best and malicious at its worst. In my unfortunate time living here I had to endure an infestation of crickets living in my wall which campus residence waited for several sleepless weeks to address, a busted sewage pipe flooding my entire apartment to which campus residence responded they would be happy to vacuum the apartment in three days, a ceiling collapse which led to a repeated phone calls demanding that I prepare to move out of my building by the end of the month despite me being on a two month circuit of residency interviews, a smoke detector which would go off in my room for no reason and led to semiannual meetings where I had to attempt to not be kicked off campus. These are just moments that stand out, avoid living here at all cost. Stories like this were near daily occurrences at Chapin.

Extremely tiny and conjugated space. Machines are just kept on top of each other, no space to stand and excercise

Small but okay for light exercises or cardio. Sometimes heavily crowded.

This place was disgusting when I lived there. The apartments are filled with mold and are totally dilapidated. When I moved in to my "apartment," there was black mold on the bathroom ceiling and dead flies on the mattress and carpet. The carpet was old and filthy, and there were holes in the walls. I hope new management at SBU has worked to improve these facilities since then.

Whoever works at Chapin keeps on marking this apartment complex as closed to delete the yelp reviews, it's sad really but rather than fixing their conditions they'd rather just cover things up. This location is still operational and its living conditions are still as horrible as ever. The prices comparably are markedly elevated for shoddy repairs and dilapidated buildings. I am so glad that I moved out of this location and encourage anyone who's considering to leave this complex and find housing elsewhere.
