I adopted my puppy in 2022 and started her training at PetSmart. As I got to know my puppy better, I decided she'd make a great Therapy Dog. While investigating HOW to become a Therapy Dog Pair, I was introduced to The Staten Island Companion Dog Training Club. This amazing group of caring and helpful (mostly volunteers) have helped both me and my dog learn how to work together. She is now a Certified Canine Good Citizen (after completing the Beginner II class) and we are now a Certified Therapy Dog Pair (after completing the Therapy Dog Training class) with The Bright and Beautiful Therapy Dogs, Inc. Since that time, I've become a member of the club and we've taken Agility For Fun. There are loads of continuous learning courses as well as competition classes if you and your dog are so inclined. They serve and understand all breeds ESPECIALLY mixed breeds and help teach owners how to manage behavior without damaging the spirit. I've learned alot and look forward to learning more. I highly recommend this club whether you just want to learn how to have a well-behaved dog or you want to train to compete.

Our first day of class- we didn’t know what to expect. Koda Bear was a difficult student to say the least-barking, whining, tugging and jumping! With the support and patience of Janet, Desma and John.. we began to see so much growth in Koda! Koda made strides week by week. Their constant encouragement and praises as well as their sound advice and fool proof strategies has not only benefited Koda in so many ways but for our family as a whole! The dedicated instructors are true and knowledgeable experts in this field and they care. We feel a bit more confident and validated as we work with Koda on his journey/training. Looking forward to continuing the practice as the learning never ends. We are excited for our next stop:Beginner 2!

My husband and I are taking agility for fun class with our dog Maximus. We’ve taken 10 classes with our dog already and this by far is the most fun class we ever took. Our dog cannot wait his turn to go into the ring. He gets so excited. He doesn’t want to leave the ring. Kristine is knowledgeable, experienced, fun, and overall an amazing teacher. She is calm and gentle with my dog when he’s getting excited, yet firm enough that he listens to her I highly recommend this class.

I've been bringing my dogs here for years. They have great trainers with a large variety of activities you can train your dog in. Puppy classes to advanced obedience, agility, tricks, etc. Large facility that ensures you can keep your dog in its own space to train.

I've trained multiple dogs here over the years. If you really want to have a closer relationship with your dog, THIS IS THE PLACE. There are multiple levels of training you can do from puppy kindergarten, which is awesome for socializing to top level competition training in obedience, agility, rally, scent work. They help you get the most out of your dog.

This is the absolute BEST facility with the BEST instruction around. I drive an hour + here for classes and still go twice a week that's how great it is. My puppy has significantly transformed since our first visit to the club. Now four different completed programs in (over 20 weeks of instruction with 6+ different instructors) we are hooked. The prices are extremely reasonable, the instructors are extremely patient and knowledgeable, and the diversity of programming is unmatched. If your pup needs introductory classes - beginner 1 and 2 are the best (puppy classes available if needed). If you want a Canine Good Citizen (AKC recognized title), these classes prepare and then test you for it. If you want dog sports, there are classes for rally and agility and nose work. If you want anything in between, they have it!! From one crazy dog owner to another, this is your dog's Dorothy moment - There's no place like home!

There are many positive reviews on this place, which I feel are in response to the quality of training and not quality of interactions from all staff. The training and staff seem very knowledgeable, but lack in understanding customer service. I can’t speak for everyone, but Janet Mines Kings is one of the upper management of the organization and who reached out to my request for training. After speaking with her regarding service or therapy dog training I felt Ms. Kings was insensitive, condescending, and passive aggressive. After several interactions with her, she became more rude and began turning me away from wanting to go there. I had a knot in my stomach just thinking about it and I never went back. I would encourage the same for anyone else. I hope there are more options as our little pet partners are unique and deserve the best.

I’ve used this place to start training on many dogs. I always get my money’s worth. Instructors are friendly, very knowledgeable and will go the extra mile to work with you. My dogs are well behaved and I can take them almost anywhere- walk on the boardwalk, walk the park trails without yanking my arm out of the socket or going crazy passing other dogs.

Great place to train. Been around a long time. Have trained multiple dogs here. Knowledgeable trainers. Lots of things for dogs and owners to do: obedience, agility, rally, nosework.

Fabulous training classes! When I first started, I thought I just needed one class to teach my dog some basic obedience. Six years later I’m still training there, my dog and I are in competition level classes in obedience and Scentwork. We have gotten a bunch of titles and ribbons too! SOOO much fun! SICDTC opened up the world of dog sports to me! You won’t be sorry!
