I don't write reviews. At all. However, I continue to have horrendous experiences with this places that I encourage anyone who has the time to read this to choose another vet practice on Staten Island. My senior cat has been without medicine for twenty days now for her hyper thyroid; and they still decline my refills, send me to different websites without giving me a proper answer. I'm exhausted and looking for another practice that can take care of my cat in her late years. I'm disappointed and hope no one else has to experience the frustration I've been through.

Service is poor. My appointment was at 1045, but i was waiting until 1125. No apology or acknowledgment for the lateness, they pretend like nothing was wrong. This has been a consistent problem since Covid and seems to be getting worse. They still ask you to wait in your car outside, for their convenience, not your safety. They do not pick up the phone, you have to communicate through text and they take long time to reply. The lead time to get an appointment is about a month. Even waiting for medication is unpleasantly long.

This place almost killed my dog 1 year ago, I haven't been there since. The other day I was going through my emails and saw a receipt from there office that my dog recieved a shot and charged my credit card $100 and they sent me another email confirming my next appointment! When I called them up they told me that yes I was there with my dog. After I insisted that I wasn't there after they almost killed my dog I will never go there, she put me on hold came back to phone to tell me ohh it was another dog! How does this place do business be aware!!

Hands down the best especially for bulldogs. We see Dr. Powell and haven't been disappointed. He is very caring, willing to teach and knows a lot about bulldogs. The practice is super responsive and I can even text with pics to get advice and help. Would recommend this practice highly!

STAY AWAY! What happened to the wonderful caring vet practice and staff?? Down the toilet. Perhaps caring more about $ then long time clients or their pets and the rude and incompetent office staff makes this once awesome practice a huge disaster in the making. I'm a long time customer/client and have spent much $$ there, and there was total disregard of them placing my pet at risk or me considering leaving the practice. Really?! I asked for a call back from one of the owners/vets or the office manager (from an instance that happened last week) and I'm still waiting. I was giving them the benefit of the doubt but sadly they don't care. Addendum: office manager and staff bald faced lied. Is that a place you really want to trust with your sacred pet?!?

My fiancé & I scheduled cherry eye surgery for my English bulldog after meeting with the vet once for my dog's cherry eye issue. We had ONLY discussed cherry eye surgery with the vet during our one and only visit about his eye. We dropped our puppy off on Monday for his eye surgery that had been booked for over a month. We received a call Monday afternoon saying that "both" surgeries went well - the eye surgery & the castration - & my dog is ready to be picked up. We were immediately very confused, as we never discussed or gave permission to castrate our dog. We thought it had to have been a mistake, but no, the vet neutered our dog without ever discussing it with us. Due to English bulldogs' various health issues, we did not want to neuter our dog this young. However, the vet went ahead and neutered our dog without EVER discussing it or asking. They then had the audacity to try to CHARGE us for a surgery that we never authorized. The vet even lied to our faces and claimed that he had "mentioned castration" when we dropped the dog off - which was a flat out lie. He ended up not charging us as a "courtesy." I've never submitted a bad review on Yelp in my entire life - but, I'd like to warn other pet owners TO NOT VISIT THIS PLACE. If you do, make sure you are extremely cautious. It scares me that this vet could do something similar/conduct surgery on other pets without permission.

I took my dogs to get bathed today and they filed my dogs nail down too far. Nd she was bleeding all over my car When I called to tell the groomer she said " it's no big deal it's only a nail !" If she would've told me when I picked her up wouldn't have been a big deal but she neglected to tell me and brushed it off !!! I didn't appreciate the callousness ... Never again !

Hey pet parents. I am sharing my experience so others can be aware. Today I went to Richmond valley vet with my 6 month old German shepherd so they can look at his nose. He came in a prong collar since we are still in training of appropriate leash walking. A vet tech walked us in, as we walked in another vet walked out with another dog. To avoid the dogs interacting , the vet tech grabbed my dog into the air with the prong collar. He was dangling and screaming in pain. I started to screaming saying "are you crazy. He's a puppy in a prong collar. You're hurting him". She wouldn't let go until I screamed my lungs out to get off my dog. I walked into the room upset. The vet tech came back with the female vet. I asked her to leave , I don't feel comfortable with her handling my dog. She clearly doesn't know how to properly handle a dog. She responded to tell me about her 10 years experience and that she doesn't have to explain herself to me. She also stated she isn't leaving and too bad. It escalated until I told her that I will beat the f*ck out of her if she even comes near my dog. Now the vet apologized and handled the situation very professionally. Another tech came in and she was great. I asked for the vet tech's name. The office manager refuses to release her name to me. She has large gauges in her ears , blue highlight , and tattoos on her arms. I couldn't see anything else (due to the mask). Here's my warning - don't ever let your dogs go unaccompanied ESPECIALLY in this office. My dog was dangling in the air from his prong collar. I wish I had it on video. I understand accidents happen and the vet was extremely apologetic. Had to ask the vet tech to leave.

We have been going to Richmond Valley for several years now. I cannot recommend them enough. The staff and facilities are top notch. Dr. Shull has never steered us wrong. He has done several surgeries for our guys and they have all been successful. Great place and a great doctor.

I have been coming to Richmond Valley for at least 8 years. I drive all the way from the Bronx. At the time this Vet office was the best place to bring your English bulldogs. But since the Covid pandemic they have fallen off extremely. You can't even get a appointment within the week. You have to wait at least 3 weeks to get a appointment now. They don't weigh the dogs. You can't come inside which I'm not going to complain about that. But things are opening up now. So hopefully they get back on the ball and get back to how they once was. Because having someone take your pet inside and your not there with them you don't how and what they are doing with them. It annoys me that you can't be in there to explain what's going on with your pet.

To the girl who answered the phone yesterday when I called for prescription dry cat food. DO NOT BE SO CONDESCENDING! There is reason why I ask if the food is fiber response! It's because last time which wasn't the first time either, your staff gave me the gastrointestinal cat food that was NOT fiber response. Pictures attached. This is my cats health and you should be more considerate with your tone. I don't know what has happened with this practice. Only good thing in the last 2 years is Dr. Shull.

After taking 6 dogs to Richmond Valley for 30 years, I must move on to another vet. They have totally melted down during this pandemic, unable to answer there phones, unable to answer messages left on there web site, unable to pass messages to Doctors MAcacia. You call, hang on for twenty minutes and then they hang up. I know things are tougher during this Pandemic but, they have become completely Dysfunctional. My dog is experiencing frequent daily seizures and Richmond Valley can't pick up there phone!
