My 3 (three) cats come here and have been for the last 15 (fifteen) years, today Gomez had just a blood work appointment and we arrived on time, when the tech came out she said that they did not have a room available and they would take Gomez, I said no where he goes I go I would like an exam room, the reply was "well we have clinic today" I said " not my problem" I want to be with him" they accommodated me and we waited a few min and we were in a exam room, and the tech took his blood. I went to check out and both receptionists were busy on the phone, I waited and waited finally another customer came in with his dog and as one of the receptionists hung up the phone she checked him in I asked "well I have been waiting to check out" the reply was "well check in is quicker" really OK so I guess me walking out is quicker as well with out paying, finally the other receptionist was off the phone, I gave he my card and she ran it and threw it back at me I caught it before it hit the floor, then I asked if they had an office manager then both of them got really really nice to me WOW there's a shocker. I understand that customer service has gone to hell in this country but really. The worst was when I brought my Meg in she is a handicapped cat, someone abused her before I found her, last time she was in for her check up they did not know she as a special needs cat after the exam I had to inform them of her eyes (which were never checked) one of her eyes does not focus and is off Erie Canal NEVER noticed it, the Vet then said "ohh I guess she is a special needs kitty" really your a trained vet and I am the one who had to tell you that she was special needs cat. I yet have to receive a call from their office manager. Update I did receive a call from the Office Manager on the same day I give allot of credit for a same day call back but at this point I am deciding if I am going to continue with this business or find another Vet for my Cats.

What a wonderful place. My cat almost died and needed a blood transfusion. They had no blood for this but went above and beyond by finding another cat to act as the donor. My cat is doing much better and on the road to recovery.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting your office, and I cannot speak highly enough of the exceptional care my cat received. From the moment we arrived, it was evident that the entire staff, from the veterinarian to the technicians, genuinely love and care for animals.
The environment was warm and welcoming, which greatly contributed to my cat's calm demeanor throughout the visit. The team took their time to ensure he felt secure and comfortable, demonstrating remarkable patience and empathy.
The veterinarian provided a thorough examination and clearly explained each step, addressing all my concerns with professionalism and kindness. It was reassuring to see how dedicated they are to the well-being of their furry patients.
I highly recommend this place to anyone seeking compassionate and skilled veterinary care. Their commitment to animals and their owners truly sets them apart.
Special thanks to Dana, I've never seen my cat so calm around a new person, you all did great!!

(Would give 0 stars if that was an option)
On Friday we noticed some unusual behavior from our 6 year old male cat. We assumed he just ate something funny and would recover by the next day, but Saturday morning he seemed very unwell and we decided we needed to take him to the emergency vet. This was our first encounter with Erie Canal Animal Hospital (emergency), and I truly hope it was our last.
I was brought into the room with a tech and she quickly explained what they assumed was wrong with our cat. She proceeded to take him back for an ultrasound and to collect vitals. The ultrasound did NOT confirm their suspicions and his vitals were fine. She then explained a few different panels of bloodwork that we could have done which could’ve helped with a diagnosis. There were two price ranges, one costing $400-700 and the other costing $700-1400. Minutes later the vet rushed into the room in a tizzy and squeezed my cat in the lower body a couple of times before quickly diagnosing him with a very serious life threatening medical issue and proceeded to tell me it would cost $3000 in emergency surgery to save him. They allowed me to call my husband on speakerphone to explain what was happening and then left the room to give me time to make a decision. The second time the vet and tech came into the room I asked if there were any other less expensive options with medications or if the issue would resolve on its own. They explained how the only options I had were to have the surgery done or to euthanize. Mind you, I entered the office just thinking my kitty had a belly ache and now I’m suddenly being forced to make decisions on whether or not to put him down. I questioned the vet as to how she knew he had this issue when the ultrasound didn’t show anything. She quickly said “oh that was just done by a tech. I can feel it with my hands”. I found it incredibly unprofessional that she discredited another employee in the office. If she can’t even take their word, why should I trust anything anyone here says? I explained to her that we don’t have $3000 to spend on the cat. I also said that he was our family cat, we have 3 small children and I asked if there was anything we could do to make him more comfortable and bring him home. She proceeded to say something about how my leaving would be against medical advice and then snarkily said “well we could give you a pill that you could shove down his throat, but he will just suffer and this would ultimately kill him”. She completely lacked empathy and was very aggressive, judgy and made me feel incredibly guilty for not jumping into a decision after having such shocking news sprung onto me. She then left again so I could make a decision. The final time I was grateful that only the tech came in and I was able to avoid speaking to the vet again. I asked for them to give my cat back so I could take him home. She made me sign a form stating that I understood his quality of life was at stake and that I was leaving against medical advice, further making me feel guilty for not being able to afford the *temporary* fix that the $3000 surgery would’ve provided.
Thankfully I was able to speak with a vet tech from another office who gave us the gentle guidance we needed and we made the very difficult decision to put our cat down still not knowing with 100% certainty that his issues were life threatening. We chose to drive 30 minutes away rather than go back to Erie Canal Animal Hospital.
All in all I found this to be a terrible experience and hope that no one EVER has the misfortune of interacting with Staceyann Doobar DVM. As stated, she completely lacks empathy and made an already difficult situation way worse. Anyone who finds themselves at the emergency vet on a Saturday morning, while 35 weeks pregnant is already having a hard enough day without someone making them feel guilty. Shame on you Staceyann, shame on you.
