We are sending our son this year, so we went to see Camp Michikamau. Our first big takeaway was the longevity, friendliness, and professionalism of the camp personnel. Some had camped there as kids themselves, some came on overseas programs, and they returned to stay permanently. Who was caring for our son was most important to us, and we were really comfortable. The setting is lovely by the water, and it looks like good old-fashioned camping fun with a detailed lineup of activities and fun traditions. Throw in some chores, a reset from electronics, fresh air, freedom, and affordability, and again, the Y does not disappoint.

amazing place. An hour and a half drive from New York.A huge lake with swans. A huge forest with really beautiful log cabins.At the entrance is a place suitable for camping with a place for the fire.Breathtaking view. Hiking trails in the area.a quiet place. You can listen to the chirping of the birds.good air Pastoral landscape.Highly recommended for anyone who has time or is looking for a place to rest

I too went here in the 80's and like the 2 single star posters found that the cabins were over crowded and the theft of your belongings was overwhelming. Contact to family was limited to snail mail. And there was definetly an unwritten rule that only the cool kids could swim in the deep section. (I spent most of my swimming in the kiddy crib). The uphill hike to the cabins seemed to go on forever. The commisary items were over priced. And the daily chores which included cleaning the Larry and Laverne were no fun at all. Other than that though.....best time of my life!!!

We loved it. The place is a good getaway for a long weekend given weather permits. We rented a cabin. Free access to kayaks, canoes, paddle boat all day. Totally worth it.
