I give this institution ZERO stars . My family banked here when it was Edge for over 30 years . This place is more like a big bank . It's corporate. Try calling and waiting forever just to get a rude representative. And rude doesn't even cut it with the managers . These woman will never hold a candle to the old CEO from Edge . There's nothing worse than fake people. Nothing transferred over correctly and each time I went in they screwed it up even more . There's hardly any edge employees left which was why we were even riding this nasty wave out now the best one is gone . The Puerto Rican girl was the best . At least her smile lit the place up . Sadly our days are over there . I am never late in my payments and I continue to get late notices. This was clearly your first takeover and you were not prepared!!!!

Why did Edge merge? Edge was the best CU in town . Now this place could be by far the worst credit union in history. They have mixed up account numbers , money going in the wrong accts . High fees. You pay your bills and they still send late notices when you're on time . No one has any idea what they are doing . They are beyond rude. What institution has a cash giveaway in order to recruit new membership?!This is how desperate they have become.. Do not be lured in with a good rate or a 70" TV because once you have done that this place is nothing but one huge headache! Zero stars!

Like most banks in Otsego County, NY, the Sidney Federal Credit Union has no financial advisors. Usually banks have financial advisors free of charge to customers with accounts. So, they do not care about their customers, and customers having money issues profits them for predatory loan giving. They gave me a 8% car loan deal, but it appears as much more. My regular car payment would be $133.00 for several years, but financing increased it by $136.00 per month for around $312.00 for several years. Due to mishaps not my fault, I cannot pay in time, so they say they can take my car during the very cold winter months when I live in a semi-remote area without public transportation or stores, nearest supermarket is 20 minutes away driving distance. There is no bank in the village I live in, Community Bank closed last year around the same time the drug dealers left the village. So, I will try to resell the car since I own half of it, and try to get the loan money back that I paid. I feel with their predatory rates that they could give me to April to make past payments. I am new to financing, and I feel they take advantage of me and have lousy financing deals. I was going to get home equity through them, but they wanted a lot of paperwork and would not just give me the equity based on the house as collateral. I am 60 years old, mixed-race, female, and want to downsize and move out of NY to a place with more sunshine and ocean beach. I find NY horrible for my small businesses, and I am being scammed, victimized.

I live outside the area, but have maintained my account at SFCU for over 40 yrs. Anytime I cannot get back to a branch office, I can always count on accurate and prompt service just by making a phone call.

Shady business, was never told about the 2 percent interest charges when making payment, now why would I pay 2percent more on a 8percent loan, thieves in my opinion, and from the reviews I've read there only supported,by it's founders

I was a member of Edge Federal credit union when they merged, really taken over by SFCU. It was so unprofessionally done and an absolute shit show. My college son wasn't able to use his credit card for 7 days, no ATM access for 3 days and all of our auto pay accounts couldn't be done for several days at the end of the month prior to the official merger. The 1st correspondence I got from SFCU was that my son's account no longer qualified for overdraft protection and called out all the fees. They later said that letter was a mistake. Monday 10/2 the 1st official day of the merger I showed up at the Edge branch because the ATM card they issued to my son wouldn't activate, turns out someone had entered the wrong phone # for my son, even though my wife and my cards activated and were under the correct phone #. The branch had a sign on the door saying they were closed for the day. Turns out about 50 other people had issues and all started arriving at the Edge location. They finally realized they had to open and try and help all the people that had issues. I find it absolutely amazing that another credit union would be merging with someone else and not have everything lined up and ready to go. It should have been a seamless transition; this isn't the 1st merger in the banking industry. It shows the complete ineptness of SFCU leadership. Prior to the merger I went in to pay the balance for my son's credit card before it would be closed out. The first thing I was told was, "you do know that SFCU will honor the credit card interest rate through Dec and then it becomes a variable rate." Well no I wasn't notified but that just reinforced my decision to leave such a terrible business, it was clear their 1 and only priority was to take over a smaller credit union and start raising fees and making as much money as possible. I went in to close all my accounts yesterday and the woman at the teller station had to have a manager stand over her shoulder as she had zero clue what she was doing. The manager asked me why I was closing all of my accounts, to which I asked her if she really needed to ask me that question. If you are a member of SFCU because you were at Edge I'd suggest you leave as fast as you can. If you're considering opening an account with SFCU, do yourself a favor and check others out first. We went to Empower and the process coudn't have been any more professional, friendly and easy. SFCU is an absolute mess, and I would never do business with them.

Very grateful to Lisa Grant, Member services for her very professional and courteous assistance. Lisa handled a half dozen tasks for my son and myself quickly and confidently. I cannot imagine banking at any other institution; SFCU Sidney, Oneonta and Delhi are all awesome!
