To start, I was having such a hard time finding someone to do a refinishing job for me in NYC - all the refinishers I reached out to seemed so picky, as in, they only wanted to do high-end jobs, and everyone was exorbitantly expensive. I finally came across Hillbilly Barter and Trading online and I was confused because their address is upstate ... but I am so happy I emailed because they DO work with NYC customers .. they do regular weekly pickups and dropoffs right to your door! Amanda is amazing, she was super communicative and answered all my questions about their process of refinishing. The table I needed refinished is 50+ years old and came from my childhood home - it had gotten very worn and was just at the point where it couldn't be used because anything would cause damage due to the worm finish.. I asked her to refinish/restore it so that it would look the same. She color matched the stain pretty much exactly and refinished it and the table looks absolutely amazing and with a new finish the table can be used and enjoyed in my living room. Prices are fair, communication was excellent and overall Amanda was a delight to work with. New Yorkers, this should be your go-to for your refinishing needs!!!*I have attached 4 photos - 1 is a closeup of the wear and tear of the surface of the table, 2 are the final refinished product! I also included a picture of what the table looked like before to illustrate that the final job was a great match to the original color.

Hillbilly Barter & Trading Company recently refinished a family cherished dining room table for us. Admanda and Doug worked with us on coordinating the project. The table is absolutely perfect now which saw 4 kids grow up and 40 years of use.Our only regret is we can't leave a 10 star review which they deserve.

I have had a lovely old sewing table/jewelry/vanity table (????) that belonged to my Grandmother. It served as my bedside table for many years. We have also moved a few times, so besides it getting banged up and chipped, it had some water damage from overwatering my plant a few times :( My Mother-in-Law just sold her home and I acquired an OLD goat cart that belonged to my Father-in-Law. It was in good shape, but just had fallen all apart. It needed to be shored up and everything made strong again! They brought both pieces right back to life again. The small table is once again by my bedside in all of it's former glory and the goat cart is all ready to be hooked up to one of our dogs (kidding). I am looking forward to using it to display pumpkins and greenery for the Holidays! The fact that Amanda and Doug both picked up and dropped off the items was the icing on the cake! Thank you both for your hard, loving work! It shows.

I have some signs in my house made by Amanda. Some painted, some burned. I must say I love the way the burned wood looks. She can treat them with a poly or wax, which I wish I asked for, to avoid splitting(because I have it above a heater).
