I always loved this place as a child as well. I use to play with the doll houses they use to have in store front. It is nice to still have a store that is a Classic to me.

This was a super great bookstore! The staff was friendly and was knowledgeable on recent best sellers, and they were able to recommend books based on our interests. They also had a fantastic clearance section, including both fiction and nonfiction books. I really liked some of their specialty displays, such as their banned books table! I'll absolutely go back next time I'm in Schenectady!

Jay Street is one of the best parts of Schenectady, and the Open Door is the best part of Jay Street. This is the small bookshop other bookshops should aspire to be.

They listen to my thoughts and needs and their suggestions are always welcomed. They are competitively priced but it's interaction with the staff that makes the difference. The best little book and gift shoppe is on Jay St in Schenectady. Also, lots of dining now and other boutique shops worth visiting. Go to the Open Door!
