The eye doctor was very unprofessional and spent a good 20 minutes telling me his antiquated views on the Confederate Army and slavery. Highly recommend he keeps those views to himself.

Note: this business moved recently, and is now on Erie Blvd. It is in the building next to the market, but the entrance is behind the building. Go in the door marked "A," and go up to the second floor. Not the fanciest place in town, but competent and thorough service. Also very important: they do business with Medicare and Medicaid. Many opticians do not, and while frame options for these plans may be limited, this is a kindly service to the community.

Maybe I'm naiive, but I have just been made aware of opticians' service turnaround time on processing orders being effected by what insurance carrier is had. My son is has Medicaid due to a traumatic brain injury. I was just told that his eyeglass order is delayed based on his insurance. Disturbing.

Don't judge a book by its cover, they say. Don't judge an optimetry office by its facade, I would add. This place may not have the most attractive shop front, but my recent experience as a customer has been as satisfying as my past experience with any other eyecare business. I feel particularly strongly about supporting local and/or privately-owned businesses, which is another reason I chose Gayne's over dozens of other places. Making an appointment was easy enough on the phone, and Heather was the person who helped with appointments and, even more importantly, picking a new frame - the way she casually looked at me and the wall of frames to pick out a selection for me to choose from was really impressive. My eye exam was overdue so I was relieved to have it done, and there was no drama with the whole process, either. I hear they have been open for well over 10 years, and I hope they stay open for many, many more.

Really great service!! I needed magnifying glasses for the computer, they turned out perfect and are a life saver. I've ordered several frames online and Heather has always put in the lenses, it's easy and spot on.

Very easy and pleasant experience getting first pair of glasses for our son. Also they are one of the few in the area that accept Medicaid.

Gayne Optical is the place to go for glasses and eye care! Friendly, professional and caring. The best eye exam I've ever had. Very thorough. Everything was explained and my questions answered. My lenses were fit into my existing frames with a quick turn around. If you need new frames, there is a good selection for men and women. They accept Medicare, and as such were actually recommended by another facility. They also accept Medicaid. There is parking on Union St. and also a lot behind the store. The bus stops are right nearby in both directions so it's easily accessible. A friend of mine goes here too, and is completely satisfied. Definitely a five star business. Highly recommended.
