I've shopped at Cavianola's for years, and I loved their cheese selection until recently. A dear friend purchased a lovely-looking gift box for me via phone, but when I opened the three different cheeses, I was disgusted. Each one was inedible. They were either covered in mold, slimy, or hardened and cracked. My suspicion is that the person or persons who put these gift boxes together are using the older cheeses they want to get rid of. My warning to potential customers is never to let anyone pick the cheeses for you to make sure you aren't getting rotting products. The lovely woman who purchased the gift for me is 90 years old, and I'm not going to embarrass her by telling her the gift she so graciously gave me was atrocious. Shame on Cavianola's.

Extremely rude and unprofessional staff. Woman was insulting and disrespectful. Shameful.

Cavaniola's have great cheese but the woman who "helped" me was utterly condescending and nasty. I asked for manchego cheese and proceeded to cut the secret de compostelle cheese so with other cheeses that I asked for. She just took it upon herself cutting/substituting cheeses. Just because the cheese tasted good and similar doesn't mean they are the same. She should have asked if it's OK to substitute. If I wasn't desperate because I was prepping for a party for my boss I would have walked out. She doesn't belong in that nice little shop. I think she's racist too.

Made a beautiful salad with the marinated Australian feta cheese from Cavaniola's. I love this cheese and the shop. But I had to source the Bresaola elsewhere. Please bring back the Bresaola!!!

Just left this terrific store in Amagansett. Generous cheese samples and an extremely friendly staff make this shop a must see. The cheese was delicious and we got some chorizo and local craft beer. Can't wait to come back.

Love this place. Great service, delicious cheeses and knowledgeable staff. Love the option of being able to try all the cheeses before buying.

I'll start by saying the cheese I purchased was delicious, however the woman who was assisting me was awful. She was as nasty as can be and completely lost her patience with me very quickly. i have never been treated that poorly by any shop anywhere before. She should not be dealing with the public. I was unsure of what I wanted, there are so many types of cheeses so I was asking questions- I would Completely admit if I was annoying but i don't think I warranted her treatment.

The adorable little structure that houses Cavaniola's Gourmet Cheese Shop feels pulled straight out of a medieval village, where metalsmiths and welders dotted the townsquare and you might pop in over to a stand like this for cheese. This is just based on my extremely superficial knowledge of medieval architecture and people, which is all to say that this little shop has old timey charm. They manage to pack a whole lot of products into one small store, with shelves filled with jams, chocolate, crackers, accoutrements, and of course many refrigerators filled with cheese. I came in wanting a sampling of cheese with different flavor profiles, and the woman behind the counter was extremely helpful suggesting cheese made with different types of milk, with various textures and made sure I wasn't picking cheeses that were too similar to one another, which I really appreciated. I also got some rosemary crackers and a baguette to eat with the cheese. Every cheese I got was absolutely fantastic, maybe some of the best cheese I've ever tried. I'm having a hard time recalling the names of the cheeses but put your trust into the hands of the woman at the shop and she will not lead you astray. It left a lasting impression on me.

This was a cute little cheese shop. I tried the mozzarella and tomato panini ($11) and they let you have it hot or cold. My husband had the lobster Mac and cheese and heated it up at home and loved it. I'll definitely be back to try more here!

Overcharged us considerably for a cheese that isn't hard to find-midnight moon. They weren't friendly and at that price for just adequate cheese really don't think I'll come back.

Well chosen assortment of mostly European cheeses. Very knowledgeable staff, tastes freely offered. Small assortment of apps, crackers etc. All top of the line.
