THIEVERY. Got a surprise $800+ brake job after going in just for an inspection. I had the misfortune of the usual mechanic blackmail, "we cant pass you with the brakes, but if you dont get them done, we're going to charge you for the inspection". So, assuming that the brakes would cost somewhere around 300-400, I obliged. When I went to pick up, my jaw dropped at the $850 bill. I was not informed it would be that much, nor was I asked if I would be okay with the pricing. I drive a Jeep Compass, nothing extravagant. I got charged $200 for front rotors, $130 for rear rotors, $90 for front pads, $60 for rear pads, and then some miscellaneous charges for stuff for the brake job. $200 for labor, which included "looking the car over and inspecting it", which doesn't make sense since the inspection charge at $40 should include that. All together it was about $550 in parts alone, and then $200 for labor, $40 for the inspection, and then the remainder was mostly tax and misc. small charges.Ive owned VW and Audi cars, and I've never paid anywhere close to the amount charged by this place. Absolutely ludicrous pricing. I've purchased PowerStop street performance full brake kits for $300. Meanwhile Im being charged $550 for brake parts that are no where the quality as street performance. Franco was apologetic and tried to reassure me that they are "truck brakes, good quality, not chinese". I told him I've bought top of the line Bosch brakes for my GTI that never cost anywhere near what he charged me. Ive personally never even seen $100 front rotors anywhere that arent street performance level. He assured me that they were OEM quality. Thats great and all, but OEM does not cost $100 per rotor. I checked Rockauto, NAPA, Autozone, Advance Auto Parts, CARid, and Mopar, THERE IS NO REASONING FOR THE PRICING. Everything pointed OEM quality to the maximum of about $250 all-in for all four brakes, HALF of what I was charged. While I am fine paying for the labor, I do not like being lied to about parts and essentially robbed and blackmailed without recourse. Its not like I can have him take off the brakes and not pay the money. Its a simple way for him to rip off customers. He told me he would "take care of me next time", sorry bud, there wont be a next time if you're taking advantage of me like this the very first time I visit. Plenty of other auto shops to go to.
