I had a procedure done at St. Francis and literally every person I came across was so friendly. The nurses totally made me at feel at ease and comforted me. I saw several nurses during my stay and every single one was extremely nice and so helpful during my recovery!

This is the saddest excuse for a medical establishment I’ve ever seen. The doctors and nurses I’ve talked to have had no sense of empathy or compassion and provide little to no insight on my family members diagnosis. I’ve seen McDonalds staff more urgency and understanding. Please do yourself a favor and steer clear of this Fisher Price hospital.

Inconsistent between day shift and night shift staffing. Night shift is inconsiderate at best.. on discharge day an arrogant doctor who did not say who he was and what he was doing, took a stitch out. Was in afib that they already gave me iv meds for, He said I was leaving against his advice for a med I know I cant take it is documented in another hosptal. The nurse said that they were not allowed too Give me my discharge papers due to him. I had to take a picture on nurses computer to see what needs I need it ,is blurry and I don't know if I am doing it right..there is a lot more bad to say.. I'm contacting my attorney to ask questions. I am 67 and first time a doctor did not go over things with me..how shameful!!! Never again at St francis overnight!!!!!!!!!

"I want to shine a bright light on the extraordinary staff at St. Francis Hospital, with a special mention of Nurse Jade Matassa who went above and beyond to make a profound difference in my mother's care. While all the staff members were professional and kind, Nurse Jade Matassa stood out for her unwavering compassion, empathy, and dedication. She took the time to understand my mother's unique needs, listened attentively to our concerns, and tailored her care with utmost precision. Nurse Jade Matassa's selfless acts, such as staying late to comfort my mother and ensuring she had the necessary resources, left an indelible mark on our family. Her exceptional caregiving is a testament to St. Francis Hospital's commitment to excellence. We are forever grateful for Nurse Jade Matassa ‘s angelic presence and the entire staff's outstanding work. ❤️"

Giving this hospital a 3 because of the doctors and nurses. But their policy when a patient is on their “deathbed”needs to change. Three people in the room at time is a disgrace to the family. The vallet workers just want to make money off of you and are rude when you visit too. Sorry I was not paying to park my car for 20 minutes as my dead grandma sat in this hospital. When I said I just had a loss in my family and would be in and out in 20 mins they told me we could “work something out” aka trying to make me pay to see my dead grandma. Need to revise this ASAP for families in this situation. Example, give family members who have loved ones on critical or palliative care floors parking vouchers like other surrounding hospitals do so family members know they don’t have to pay to see their dying relative! The front desk staff comes off harsh and gives you an attitude and is only concern about how many people are in a room and you have to stand their and wait and wait until they call up and confirm with whatever floor your loved one is on how many people are in the room. Very unethical approach for family members as they could be grieving a loss and or in a rush to make a medical decision for their loved one. Do not have your loved one come here you think they could be passing. Go to North Shore Manhasset where the experience of your loved one passing is better if you can! I hated my experience is this hospital from the moment I got out of my car to the minute I left! Never taking any of my loved ones here.

We had a question regarding what course of action we should take since her visit from earlier tonight. Her blood pressure was elevated and she was told during her visit that if it raises when she gets home to take BP medicine. If not, she should take it in the morning. We went home and the systolic number was lower, but her diastolic number (the lower number) was higher than during the visit. This naturally was a source of confusion so we called back at ER. I just got off the phone with a physician's assistant named Ben.Not only did he give an answer without fully taking into consideration what was being said about the advice given during my mother's visit, he sounded like he was guessing when I asked a simple logical question (What is the reason why it would be taken now instead of in the morning?) He never answered the question and he also just hung up on us. Very unprofessional and rude when I just wanted to know how he came to the conclusion that he did. The nurses and doctor during the actual visit was nice and pleasant. They need to get rid of him.

I had a major surgery here. I had heard great things about this hospital. My experience however was a disaster. The aftercare was totally inconsistent. I had excellent nurses, I had awful nurses. I had a complication that not addressed in a timely manner causing major and unnecessary distress and pain. I had an apology for some of the things that happened , but it fell very short for me.Advise to any patient. Make sure to document everything about your stay including every staff member that is entrusted with your care here. I am not an anxious person, but would have totally anxiety if I had to have another procedure here.

Went to the emergency room on 1/31. We really didn't have to wait long to get a bed, however once we got a bed it was 3 hrs before we saw a doctor and even when we did see her, it was extremely brief (maybe 7 minutes) and then She disappeared for 2+ hours! And when we asked to be discharged because she never came back with results, we were told we had to wait for her to fill out discharge papers. So now we're waiting for her to that. Nothing was resolved, but we've been here for almost 6 hrs. If you're coming here for emergency room visit and you're not dying, I highly highly do not recommend! Please go to another hospital!

I’ve always thought of St. Francis as a premier hospital until I went to the emergency room with severe cramps and rectal bleeding at about 12:30 pm yesterday. They left me in the waiting room for over 5 hours. Only after pleading for a bed did they give me one. I was admitted at 5:35 pm. The nurses kept putting me off stating that a bed was being prepared. Dr. Lee Jacobson was a kind and attentive doctor and did order a CT scan and bloodwork. The diagnosis was Colitis. I am very disappointed with how long it took to be admitted while in incredible pain and running to the bathroom to expel blood. Since I am still bleeding, I need to see a gastroenterologist asap. I was discharged at about midnight.

I recently had a surgery at this hospital and it was one of the best hospital experiences I’ve ever had!The nurses, anesthesiologist, assistants and my doctors all stopped by to introduce themselves and answer any of my questions before the surgery. They were all so nice! During my post op, all the staff was patient and very accommodating. They made a very stressful and traumatic experience of getting surgery as comfortable as possible, and for that I am so so grateful.I didn’t stay the night so I cannot comment on the rooms or overnight nurses but my experience the 10 hours I was there was very positive.Thank you to each staff member that was so nice to me!

I will say this, there are a few great nurses and doctors at this hospital that left a smile of relief on my family’s faces time and time again , however, the bad experiences my family and I have had here several times seems to tip the scale on the “not so good” side of things. My mom has been admitted to this hospital as she has several times in the past. She is admitted tonight, however, she is waiting in the ER until she is transferred to a room. I have just called the ER to obtain information as to what bed she is assigned to and lo and behold her nurse who goes by the name Kate answered the phone. Not only was she rude and quite dismissive but she blamed another patients “verbal aggression” and heavy use of profanity toward staff on my mother. She continued on making claims that my mom cussed out both the doctors and the nurses. Little did she know when I had spoken to my mom earlier in the day not only was she happy with the service she was receiving but at the same time she informed me of another patient who was cussing at staff and using heavy profanity toward them. The lack of professionalism on display by some doctors and/or nurses is disheartening. I am by no means a race baiting person but I strongly believe her treatment has NOTHING to do with care and EVERYTHING to do with my mom being a black woman. This is an issue some people refuse to admit all the while making it too obvious to believe otherwise. The fact that this “nurse” blatantly lied to me on the phone and expected me to believe her is egregious. This is MY loved one and now I am left trying to decide whether I should remove her from the hospital due to the discomfort she feels while being there all at the hands of one spiteful nurse. Simply put I DO NOT trust who she is in the care of. Please take heed to my words, if you are a minority patient OR if you are someone who has an issue with treatment and you feel you are being treated less than what you should be in a time where you deserve the utmost care and compassion reach out to those in power OUTSIDE of the hospital. Attempting to resolve issues in house will only give you negative results because most if not all of the staff here are friendly with each other. Unfortunately, some staff who shares the same devilish personality such as Kate seems to retaliate against the patient once you reach out to the patient advocates office. To make matters worse , staff members such as Kate who are capable of lying to me may be MORE than capable of spreading nasty lies to her co workers about patients which in turn may effect a persons care in a bad way. This is disgusting behavior and it needs to be addressed in ways that are effective rather than ignored. Our health may depend on it.

The most Amazing heart specialists in the world. The most amazing doctors. Dr. David H. Hoch, Dr. Syed Saad Mahmood,Dr. William Scott Shin, they performed surgery for my mother in law who came from Croatia, did not speak English, and is blind and never had surgery in her life, made her feel at ease and comfortable, they went beyond their duties. Everyone from check in to the nurses to the anesthesiologist are the most caring people in the world, they treated her with the up most respect and dignity. She is home now resting, and extremely happy full of energy. I have not seen this type of care yet in our health system.Thank you for extending my life to be with my grand kids.Milica TursicMilica Tursic

Nothing but good things to say about our experience there for ortho surgery. From the preop area, to the actual surgery team, post Op recovery in PACU and his overnight stay for monitoring. Every single person that took care of my family member was wonderful. They are kind, respectful, responsive, and always have a smile on which speaks volumes as twice while we were there it was announced that the hospital is at a high census.
