Condescending. Lost our business. If you're buying a used or new Volvo, ALAN BYER VOLVO in Syracuse is a much much better choice! Alan Byer Volvo is a larger dealer with a more modern attitude, more pre-owned choices, better prices, and a genuinely helpful staff. It is worth the drive! Alan Byer's service team was so much more helpful, knowledgeable, and respectful of me as a Volvo owner. Especially if you're buying used you will be SO MUCH HAPPIER.I called Best Volvo to set up a first appointment to establish ongoing service and an extended warranty for a used Volvo XC90 we just purchased. It has low miles and is in nearly new condition-originally sold and always serviced by Alan Byer Volvo in Syracuse. This is a second car for us and while we are professionals, the price of a new Volvo is well beyond our budget right now. But we were excited to find such a beautiful car (it looks and drives like new) within our price point. We also appreciated that the impeccable service history of the car is what's behind its incredible condition (along with Volvo's dependability... or so we thought). So, we felt bringing it to 'our own Volvo dealer' in Rochester would keep its service history going strong and allow us to feel like part of the wider Volvo family. But instead, my experience with Best Volvo was condescending and judgemental and left me feeling sh*tty about our car purchase.When I told the gentleman in the service department the year and model of our Volvo, he replied with, "EWWWWWW... that is an OLD one". I explained we purchased it from the original owner and it was always serviced by Alan Byer in Syracuse and he replied, "Well OUR customers buy much newer years even when they buy used" as if implying our vehicle was not up to snuff for their dealership. I politely told him that his comment made me feel very bad. He said, 'hey, we're happy to look at the car but we're going to tell you EVERYTHING that's wrong with it' (odd to me he already assumed there would be a ton of problems when he hadn't even seen it yet) and said it would be $165. But by then the whole exchange was just so off-putting and I thought there has to be something better than the treatment this guy is giving us. So, I thanked him for his time, hung up and called Alan Byerk Volvo in Syracuse.Alan Byer Service could not have been more helpful and respectful. They treated us like a valued customer regardless of the model year. They knew the previous owner well and confirmed it had been frequently serviced. They seemed genuinely happy for us that we acquired such a well-maintained vehicle and were beginning our Volvo experience. They scheduled a $75 'welcome visit' to go over the entire car and drafted options for an extended warranty + service. They never left us feeling like a 2010 Volvo wasn't worth it-in fact, they reaffirmed our own feeling that such a beautiful machine was well worth the added investment of a warranty, etc. to keep its history going strong. We are happy to drive the hour to Syracuse for the Alan Byer service (and eventually sales) experience, especially in this car because it's even nicer than our newer $34k car. And when we are ready for a certified pre-owned Volvo in a few years (and a new one eventually, we hope), Alan Byer will now get those sales, instead of Best Volvo. If you're looking to buy a Volvo, new or used, it's a significant purchase so do yourself the favor of at least calling Alan Byer Volvo-even their phone experience feels like a luxury dealer (vs. Best Volvo which felt 'cheap' to me) and make the hour drive for an experience that authentically reflects the Volvo brand.

This was the premiere car buying experience. I went to many dealers, including the dealer in my own town, who seemed not to want to serve me! I went to Best Volvo (now Garber) website. The AI lady named Hailey had the sense to schedule an appointment right on line. My husband and I went down and when walking in the door, someone was there to greet me. I picked the one I liked! I applied for the credit, got a great rate, put down a payment - then went to SCHOOL ABOUT MY NEW CAR! The schooling was completely thorough, open, and honest about financing and the function of the car. I don't know what happened to Barry L., but clearly they missed something. This dealer is FAR FROM LOW CLASS. This is a VERY REPUTABLE AND ORGANIZED OPERATION HERE. Thank you JIMMY!! JOE! JON! BRANDY!!! With love, YOLANDA

I worked with a Salesperson and we set-up an appointment for a test drive. I secured an auto loan (credit check and hit to credit score) On my way to the test-drive appointment I get a text saying they had sold the car would I like to come in and look at something else. I'm not happy!!! Pretty low class outfit.

The dealer service person was not straight about the problem with oil consumption on this car. "A quart of oil per 1,00 miles is normal. Just add oil and enjoy this wonderful automobile". (paraphrase) That is NOT normal. Not normal enough that if you search "class action Volvo oil" there is a wealth of hits. There are YouTube videos explaining the design problem / solution. But, instead of solution we get this glib happy talk about how great a car a Volvo is. We've had a Volvo in the family since 2005. Sad to say I cannot imagine ever again buying anything from such a company.

I had my car towed to my local Volvo dealer when it wouldn't start, & after 2 weeks, they were not able to repair it, so I had it towed back to Volvo Cars of Rochester, where we had previous service done. We got our repaired car back the next day. Thank you for the expertise & professionalism if this service department.

The service department treated me with great respect and kept me informed on the status of their service, while I waited. And they identified the problem with my Volvo and fixed it then. Their waiting area was very comfortable and offered snacks and drinks.
