I lived at the Mount Hope Lofts for 2 years and can honestly say it was one of the best experiences I have had living in an apartment in any city I have lived in (NYC, NJ, VA, MD, and FL). Wonderful and friendly staff, super attentive maintenance, spacious units, safe location, close proximity to the hospital and dental center, and JeRon and Alexandra in the front office are amazing. I also used the gym every morning, and while not the largest gym, it definitely got the job done! Couldn’t recommend living here any more 10/10

Ugly Mildew filled windows with leakage and bad insulation which will make your utility bill go up! Great people at management, maintenance is responsive for minor repairs, but lack of leadership and commitment to major projects such as changing those windows! I was told over 3 mos ago that windows will be changed before move-in, now I was told they are unlikely to do anything about it next year or so. Sad and disappointing.

Living at Mt. Hope Lofts was a nightmare. Paid my last months rent and somehow the leasing agent decided it was ok to rent the apartment out to someone else despite the fact that I had the keys and hadn’t removed my stuff. WHAT? How does something like this even happen ??????

"Mildew Town" would be more appropriate. My experience living here is typical of a corporation taking advantage of a tenant. You should definitely check the Better Business Bureau complaints on this corporation which manage several other properties (as I should have checked firsthand). When I first moved in I didn't have a choice because I didn't have any alternative apartment to move to, so I had to accept the apartment as is. Big mistake. The condition of the apartment was very poor because it was dirty (onion skins in the kitchen drawer, dirt on the side of the kitchen island, hair in the freezer, spatter on the kitchen cabinets and under the microwave/range hood, dust on the pendant lights, dust in the bathroom vent). There was also a sharp metal strip between the carpet and vinyl floor that was sticking up. Several requests were made with unsatisfactory repairs until an email to the management office was sent with a photo. Then, after only several months of occupancy the cheap vinyl floors gradually started peeling and warping. A request to have the floors looked at resulted in the management to send personnel to literally look at the floor--nothing more. Under false pretenses that plans for repair were being made, a few weeks went by and still the repair was not done. Therefore, a second request was made. The management said that personnel would be in the unit to address the issue; however, at the end of the day no evidence of repair was done. Another request was made. The management responded by having a shoddy repair done the next day. The floors were still peeling and remained a tripping hazard, so what else to do but send another service request? The management said that a flooring vendor would then come in to take a look, then said 'professionals' would come in to do the repair. After the so-called repair, the floors were still peeling, salt and dirt, boot prints, and scraps of materials were strewn all over the apartment, in the kitchen, and in the bathroom!! After all this, there was a leak in the laundry room and water was seeping through all the areas of the floor that were 'repaired'. After mold was discovered and repairs were done, the floors were peeling yet again. Management (unable to be reasonable because they are controlled by the corporation) refused to reduce the rent, one of the managers left the corporation, and then the City cited the floors for a repair. The floors were 'repaired' yet again. This time, they had to expose the concrete base to dry out, then closed the floor the following day. That same day the 'repair' was finished, the apartment had a strong solvent eye-burning smell unbearable to live in. No attempts whatsoever to warn me or to ventilate the unit with a fan, no window was opened. But guess what, it's Friday and after 5 pm and management were already gone. I was basically forced to vacate the apartment because it was too cold to have the windows open in February. Long story short, the latest repair is only temporary as the floors are starting to peel again. It took THREE MONTHS for the management company to take care of the issue. It's rare to find an apartment close to the medical center which also has a W/D in-suite, but this apartment and corporation are so not worth the money, time, or suffering. Too bad the lowest rating I can give for my review is 1 star. You might be thinking that if it's so bad, why didn't I break the contract? Simply, the corporation will charge you wayyy more than the rest of your contract ($4000) to dissuade you from leaving early despite their hoity-toity claims that they have a long wait list of potential tenants.Ps. Forgot to add that the corporation accused me of ruining the floors by putting wet clothes on--not true at all. What kind of person puts wet clothes on the floor when the dryer is next to the washer??? Only someone uneducated would say something like that IMHO.

Pros: It's quite convenient if you work at the hospital, which is a quick walk (5-10 minutes). Maintenance is excellent and very prompt. Easy to pay rent on their website and you can put maintenance request and communicate with staff easily on their website. The apartments are also very nice - in-unit laundry machines are convenient and work well. They have a nice parking garage which is reasonably priced.Cons: A little expensive for Rochester; albeit it is because of its location and amenities etc. I do agree with some of the comments below especially with strangers coming in the building at night and sneaking in the elevators with other tenants so that tenants can swipe for them. The walls are thin and you can hear tenants talking, having parties and playing loud music at night. The fire alarms goes off quite a bit at least around the beginning of the academic year. There's a no smoking policy but can smell cigarettes coming from the vents. Management thought it may come from outside, but I doubt it if the streets are empty, the window is closed, and it's 1 AM. Unfortunately they can't do much about it since I have no idea where the cigarette smell is coming from, but it's still frustrating to have to deal with every week. There are also other issues that I will not go into that I found disappointing when I moved here. It's a decent place to move in when you don't know Rochester well and work at the hospital, especially if you are a medical student or a resident. But there are definitely more affordable places with less noise, more space etc that are just as close to strong memorial.

Moved in 3 months ago and have had it. My partner and I work regular jobs/grad school, have a child, and barely get enough sleep as it is without fire alarms going off about once a week. Today there were 2 in one day and it seems like management couldn’t care less. The rent is too high for that attitude. The mail area is a mess, there have been issues with people who don’t live here sneaking in to the apartment lobby because they don’t keep the door locked, hot air was blasting into the common areas in the summer and freezing cold now that it’s fall. If you’re a grad student, med student, or professional looking to live here you’re better off living in the White Coat area or an apartment downtown.

Alex and JeRon are the best! They were super helpful with my move in process. They even went above and beyond and moved my boxes of furniture that arrived early into my unit! They also allowed me to arrive one day early to start the moving things process and to allow me to get settled more quickly. Of course, the apartment is a little pricy for Rochester but you are most definitely getting what you are paying for (also the covered parking is so worth it)

Hey you!
Trying to live at Mt. Hope Lofts? Well turn away right now. Save yourself from bad landlords and even worse living spaces. Floors are super old and bumpy. Management does not care about you. It’s so hard to get in contact with these folks. I’m genuinely upset about Mt. Hope Lofts.
Please do yourself a HUGE favor and don’t try and live here at all costs. You will save time, money, and heartache for listening.

The people are what make Mt. Hope Lofts a great place to live, especially Mr. JeRon Elliott and Meghan in the office. They truly take care of their residents and make this place a community. Mt. Hope Lofts has everything one needs and more - a quiet place to work, live, and play. My one comment is that some of the apartments face Mt. Hope Cemetery, a picturesque and Victorian landmark, so be sure to ask about availability other apartments if that is an issue.

DO NOT EXPECT GOOD SERVICE Long story short...I've reached out to these people for weeks. They never got back to me. They missed out on a great tenant. I'm really disappointed. I was looking passed all the bad reviews too. Oh well! Going some place else now.

I was the first resident of my apartment and occupied it for 4 years. Would like to share a few experiences with you all.
The feel of the apartment was fantastic from day one till the day i left the apartment. Maintenance was spot on, you complain online and they do the needful very next day. Initially the office was very difficult and rude, but since Jeron (Manager) joined it has been fantastic, he is a very nice person and tries to solve all your issues. The equipments, aircondioning, heating, washer etc all are of best quality.
Now, you will ask me why 2 stars. I have stayed at several places, but did not expect that i will have to go out in the cold to toss my garbage, they could have easily had a location allocated inside the building where it does not necessitate us to walk in snow for disposal.
We give deposit and have faith that it will be refunded in full if there are no issues we have left behind. I made Mr Jeron to do inspection few hours before we left on the last day and he approved stating we will get full refund. But we got a check after a month with 145 deducted saying 45 was some ledger adjustment, which wasnt showing pensing before i left. 100 was deducted stating smoking charges, wheras I explained that we dont smoke and no one has smoked in the last 4 years even once. But I got a response that there was odour and had to change carpet.
This was arbitrary, but i cannot do anything as I had already left. So, be careful you are not going to get your deposit back in full.
Other than these 2 issues, i had a good experience.

If you work in the Strong Hospital complex, this place is hands down the best experience. Close proximity, clean, safe and excellent for those who can't stand depressive, smelly carpets types of places. It has a price to it but you get a complete and usefull package for your buck in things you would have to pay aside anyways in other places. Yes noise can be sometimes an issue for a few. I though noise would bother me but it did not at all. It depends on where you are and the place is very big. So if it is your only concern then you should go for it. Big thumbs up to JeRon and Meghan. Professional and kind.
