I moved up here from Long Island January of this year & my biggest fear was not having a trustworthy & honest mechanic that I had. I was recommended by my plumber to use J & M auto.
The 1st time when I called I s/w Ralph & I mentioned a few things and he said I have an early opening the next day. Brought it in & they did an over all inspection & mentioned rear brakes/shocks needed to be done. He asked if I could leave it for the day except my mom can’t drive to pick me up. Without hesitation Ralph said I can drive you home & pick you up when it’s ready.
Ralph is a genuine down to earth, super friendly & so easy to talk to and explains everything in detail.
The work was completed by the end of the day. The great thing too if you can pay by cash he works it in for you.
My fear is gone because I now have my mechanic?. Great group of guys you can read trust!!!!

All I can say is wow! They tackled a huge amount of work on our vehicle all the while keeping me informed on everything. They fixed a fuel leak , front wheel bearings, front brakes and rotors as well as rear drum brakes in one day while I waited in their clean, comfortable waiting room. I was offered lunch , coffee asked if I needed anything throughout the day! I can say I will NEVER go to another auto shop so impressed with all aspects of J&M Auto! Thank you to everyone for your honest hard work!

Traveling through the area and got 2 flat tires..I called the garage, They said they could help me out..This has to be one of the cleanest places I have been to..
All of the staff were so friendly and helpful..They even had food and all kinds of refreshments free to have..Prices were very reasonable..Thanks Ralph and the staff for a great experience !!

On multiple occasions, I have visited J&M Auto for different services, and each time I have found Ralph to be consistently respectful, empathetic, and attentive to his consumer's needs and situations. He is exceptionally flexible and makes every effort to address any potential issues that may occur with your vehicle. There is a scarcity of reputable mechanics in our little area, but the exception is Ralph at J&M Auto. I strongly recommend bringing your car needs to Ralph, as I assure you that you will receive genuine assistance!

We've been bouncing around for years to different mechanics. My brother is a mechanic out in Sharon springs, but we wanted one closer. You guys are amazing!! This is probably the friendliest shop I’ve been to. I ordered my tires to be shipped to and installed by J&M Automitive through a 3rd Party. When I got there Ralph let me know that they don’t work with that 3rd Party and have talked with them before about removing their shop from their website as it didn’t work well for their business. Regardless, the 3rd Party let me book there and shipped my tires to J&M and even though J&M doesn’t work with them anymore, they worked me into their busy morning schedule and did a job well done getting my tires put on.
While I sat there in the lobby, I saw an owner, Ralph, that clearly cared for people and tried his best to do right for and by people. He and the team had such an upbeat positive attitude and really went the extra mile being clear with every customer that called and came in explaining what they intended to do for diagnosing and fixing every customer’s vehicle. Not only did they explain the what, but my favorite part is there was always a why, “We’re going to do XYZ and we’re going to do that because ABC”. This is something that builds trust and earns a customer.
I like to do all of my own work, but if I’m ever in over my head or screw something up I’ll be calling J&M for help.

Like many of the other reviews state, finding a good mechanic is difficult. We live in Cobleskill area and had gone through all of the corporate places like Mavis etc. only to be fully disappointed with all of them. Some of them even ended up costing us large sums of money due to their poor mechanical ability, which they refused to stand behind. We found J&M and will never leave them. Excellent service, done correctly the first time. Reasonable costs for service and an excellent customer support ideology. As long as they'll be in business, we will be coming to J&M! Don't even bother trying out anywhere else! J&M is the only mechanic shop in the area who should have your business!

10/10. I was traveling when I got a flat tire. This place saved my entire trip by patching up the tire quickly and efficiently. Customer service was outstanding. Highly recommend this place!!

The owner and the mechanics are very courteous and helpful. As I was waiting for my car in the waiting room, I watched the owner explained to a lady what he was doing to her car And what she should do to keep it in good condition he was not impatient with her when she asked questions. They do quality work here At a fair price.
