Great people doing a great job. Brady , Ishmeal and I thank you for taking care of my 2 boys. Also thank who ever turned them in from Moon hill road and my neighbors from Sherwood Acres who assisted in finding them.

I recommend most all SPCA's I've been to but I haven't been to this one in a long time! Anything that can be done to help place dogs, cats, bunnies, birds, guinea pigs or other animals is greatly appreciated!

If Google was any good. It would realize I'm over 2500+ miles away and wouldn't prompt me for a review

We were incredibly pleased with our experience working with the good people at the SPCA of Upstate New York to adopt our little Chihuahua, Billie (formerly Mary). From what I understand, they're the only no-kill shelter in the region, so they do all they can to save as many animals as possible and as a result, they're very busy and probably under-staffed and under-funded ... But the people who work there CLEARLY care deeply about the animals there and finding them good homes. They're by the book and take their responsibility seriously (as they should!) but were incredibly pleasant and helpful.Reading some of the other reviews, the negative comments are surprising to me and were not reflective of my experience. Yes, you have to make an appointment to meet the animals - but even without COVID, that makes sense for an organization with limited staffing trying to save, literally dozens of animals at any given time. We're very grateful to the staff - especially Austin who clearly loved Billie so much - for helping bring Billie into our family!

After completing the rigorous pre adoption paperwork necessary to visit the facility to see some of the possibilities - i was told Too old to adopt? In my early sixties I was stunned by such an inappropriate remark- especially as a being a recent widow.which was disclosed .This organization is HIGHLY UNRECOMMENDED.

I was surprised to see some of the negative reviews for this shelter. I adopted my puppy Echo (then Abigail) in December 2021 and had a smooth process. I submitted the initial application online and then called to schedule an appointment to meet her since they didn't take drop ins due to COVID. I got to see her that night, submit the final application, and pay the adoption fee. One week later and we picked her up and took her home with us. I believe that sometimes they allow you to take the pet right away, but we had to wait a week because she had just been spayed. She had a clean bill of health from our vet after taking her home. The SPCA even allowed us to come back to finish the distemper series that they had started, for no additional charge. Here are some pictures of her at the shelter when we met her, and they say we picked her up!

This shelter used to be very caring about all the animals. Unfortunately things change. They are making it very difficult for people to adopt or surrender animals. Most adoptions result from the opportunity for people to go into a shelter and meet with the animals. Allowing a connection which facilitates the animal finding a new home. This shelter has continued to use Covid as an excuse not to let people in to meet with the animals. Individuals who have volunteered there say the people in charge should Not be in charge of shelter. The closed door policy is just one serious problem with this shelter. The SPCA should look into what is going on and allow the animals to be seen. I am not looking to adopt and have never surrendered an animal. However, the complaints about this facility have been growing and their closed doors are definitely hiding something.

Excellent facility to support! Our family's first dog and cat came from SPCA and both were with us for many years. Healthy and lovable pets looking to be part of a family.

My beautiful new boy is doing so well. He's already learned to do three stairs and we started easy walking this morning on soft ground. Our local graveyard is mostly empty. Fenced and has a lawn of thyme. It's so fragrant and soft He's obviously been in a crate most of his life. His new name is Cooper as in Gary cooper he's so handsome He's learning to respect his elder 14 yr old standard poodle Murray but I think he loves dodging underneath Murray most. Murray is teaching him the ropes I'm so lucky!! Thanks spca. Thanks

Extremely rude. The adoption process is based on if you have had a dog within the last ten years, regardless of if you have had dogs for the first thirty years of your life, are a veterinary assistant, spent thousands on various surgeries and veterinary care for those dogs and other pets, have the perfect amount of time to spend with them (with my fiance and I working seperate shifts, someone would always be home with the dog) have multiple personal and work references from at least three veterinarians, are a very active family, and love a five minute walk from a dog park. The lady was extremely rude and should hear out the whole plan for the dog and lifestyle you have. If their entire system is based on whether you have had a dog in the last ten years, SO many unqualified and inappropriate people can adopt a dog while they send a perfect home away.
