She squeezed me in to see my two newly adopted cats when I found out one of them was given to me sick. She examined them both and prescribed medicine, taking the time to teach me how to administer and tips on how to keep the cats calm and how to prevent myself from getting scratched! She has since been very kind to answer all my follow up worry some questions and has also taken care of my dog. “I am really glad I made the move from where I previously took my pets to PVMG (formerly CVA). The staff is compassionate and caring, which is incredibly important to a pet parent. They are professional and considerate and remember you. It seems this is true for most of the staff at their other locations, even over the phone, helping you make appointments at another clinic to get your pet in if they need more immediate service.

I would like to single out Dr. Frank DeFeis, who is one of the best veterinary doctors I have been to in the 30 years I have been a pet parent. He has treated three of my cats. One was originally diagnosed by two other doctors with cancer due to her nasal bleeding. Because I couldn't afford certain high-priced diagnostics (although the average market price for radiology across NYC vet clinics), he patiently tried various avenues with medicine and tests over a three-month period, and eventually, he found it was a bacterial infection, and cured it. My other cat, who does indeed have bone cancer, has been treated by Dr. DeFeis with love, kindness, and patience to keep him alive with quality of life while explaining everything along the way to me (and dealt with my quasi-hysteria over it). His use of herbology and acupuncture as well as traditional medicine has allowed me more time with my cat, and he has gone above and beyond to help a pet parent with anticipatory grief.

I cannot recommend him highly enough, and the office staff at both the Bayside site and the Forest Hills location have been incredibly compassionate. Thank you.

UPDATE:
I am also very grateful to Dr. Ottenbreit, who is also incredibly kind, caring and knowledgeable. She took over my pets' care when Dr. DeFeis moved to the main location. Her and Muhammad the main Vet Tech/Nurse (Veterinarian Reaident??) and the whole tean made my terminal cat's transition into spirit as loving and good a send off as one would hope. We put him to sleep yesterday, which is two months after my initial post. The staff were rooting for me and my pet family, and the tender care they gave us is forever appreciated.

My 13 year old dog Bowser wasn’t doing so well and it was time to make that hard call. Ashley was there for me and guided me every step when it came down to giving my dog peace. “Doctor Harrington is fantastic! Professional, responsive, courteous, and direct.

First met her in 2023 for a second opinion on my older dog's knee a few weeks after moving to the neighborhood. She made time to see my dog same day and gave excellent advice and referrals to a fantastic vet surgery practice in Brooklyn. I immediately started coming to CityVet first for everything.

In early 2024 she made a quick second diagnosis that another vet at her practice had missed, then performed the needed minor surgery on my dog herself with excellent results that immediately cleared up the issue.

Front desk is generally very responsive in person and over email, most recently going out of their way to follow up multiple times when PetSmart kept botching my flea/tick approval and helped me switch to Chewy.

Took him to 2 other vets spent a ton of money and the problem would reoccur. Came to Glendale vets and the staff was super friendly, helpful and funny. Made me feel at ease as we were able to joke a little during a tough time for me. I really thought I was gonna have to put him down. After 13 years with him. So I was in a bad place. Either way, Mr Fidel CatStro, (that’s my furry friend If you didn’t figure it out) left there with no more issues. And 3 months later. “Dr. Chew is truly such a wonderful vet and our Mochi was taken care of every single time we went and he always returned our calls. Only thing that prevents me from giving the clinic a 5 star rating is that they are very old school and don't do email correspondence, so if we need Chewy to verify a med, we need to go to the clinic to pick the physical prescription and or copies of records. We made the difficult choice to switch to somewhere closer to us as we are in Forest Hills. If you're fairly local to this clinic, we absolutely recommend Dr. Chew.”

“I don’t understand the negative reviews about this place. Everything on the website was clear about pricing and booking appointments. I booked mine online and was seen next day. I scheduled a physical to get my cat spayed. Two days later I was booked for her surgery. Everyone was extremely helpful. From the woman at the front desk to anyone else that handled my cat. After her surgery, I was unable to pick my cat up due to work so I gave them a call ask if someone else can get her for me and they were very accommodating regarding my situation. Today, they called me to follow up and make sure my cat was doing well after surgery. Great people, amazing service! Thank you guys again.”

“THIS IS MY LATEST REVIEW (10/28/2024)
A little over a week ago (October 20th, 2024 ~ 1AM), my sweet boy Balto passed away. Although these things are always tragic and hurt beyond words can express, I was fortunate to know that God had put amazing folks like THE ENTIRE STAFF at Howard Beach Animal Clinic PC, in our lives to be here for HIM and us (my family) for the time we had left with him.

Due to spiritual reasons, putting him down was never an option for me when it came to making decisions and monitoring his health. Dr. Rodriguez and the team never made me feel judged or shame for the decision (because ultimately we all cared about him and didn't want him to suffer too much due to his cancer) however, it was always something advised, they understood why I couldn't go that route and I APPRECIATE YOU ALL wholeheartedly for never putting me in that position on top of the other factors I was contending with.

We knew the diagnosis was terminal however, treating it as a hospice type situation was always the route I wanted to take-- make my boy as comfortable as he can be and have him pass away at home surrounded by those he love and those who love him. That's exactly how it happened (after all the pain and discomfort)-- he found peace.

Everyone shared such beautiful sentiments about him and I am so touched by how much this clinic truly cares. It speaks volumes that he was remembered for more than just being one of the challenging fur babies they'd have their hands full with-- but that they truly are animal lovers here and they just want to do what's best.

I am saddened to see any negative reviews pertaining to this animal clinic.

Anyways, this review is LOOOOOOONG overdue.
I have a very very difficult, massive, aggressive Alaskan Malamute.

Sometime last year, he had an abscess type situation erupt in his neck area. His vet at the time really wanted nothing to do with it, and kind of left us hanging high and dry.

In a panic with no clue where to go and what to do, I stumbled across Howard Beach Animal Clinic PC online. I called them up, explained my situation, and they said come on over.

They treated the situation as an emergency visit (there was an additional charge, but totally worth it to be accommodated so quickly). Dr. Rodriguez and her care team were AMAAAAZINGGGGG!! I cannot stress enough how at ease they put me, improvising and comfortable with any/ all measures needed to deal with my difficult to deal with Alaskan Malamute.

We followed up for the 2 week follow up and all was well. Then last month, Dr. Rodriguez and her team handled his annual physical, where she found a mass near his anus and she guided me through the steps of the findings and what comes next.

This hasn't been easy. Having a pet who needs to be sedated for appointments since I've had him... EVERYONE at Howard Beach Animal Clinic has made this so easy, to take care of him and monitoring his health.

I cannot thank them enough. From the girls at the front desk, to the support team in and out of the rooms, to the technicians and the doctors themselves. I thank God everyday that we found you guys.
