From what was a reputable company to a complete scam.
I booked a car for a price. I was charged over twice that price.
On renting the car, I asked about tolls. I explained that I only needed tolls on the way back to the airport. I was charged almost as much for the IPass as I was supposed to pay for the car.
I returned to the airport with plenty of time to deal with the excess charges. The staff member tried to help, but the manager refused to assist. When she changed the rental car rate to what it was supposed to be (which was actually in their system as the booked rate), she added hundreds of dollars in other charges. She actually increased the Ipass charge as well. I don't believe she did that intentionally as she was genuinely trying to assist.
I needed to catch an international flight, so I asked to speak directly to the manager. The manager told me that the rates on my booking didn't matter. I had to pay what she charged me. I will now spend hours and hours trying to deal with what can only be described as a scam from another country.
Read the reviews and do not book with Hertz, Dollar or Thrifty.

We rent a car from 6/1 at 19:30 and return it around 6/9 at 17:00. The rental is pay by my credit card miles. The staff didn’t gave you any documents while return the vehicle. However, we received the statement on 6/10 and charge us $92.78 for 2 extra days because it record the return date on 6/10 at 23:00 which is the time they sent out the email statement.
So, beware for this tricky process to charge extra for the customers and remember get the documents while you return the car to them.
“Integrity” is most important!

Customer service at pick up was terrible. Arrived at scheduled pick up time but waited an additional 50 minutes to actually get the car. Add on's were not explained and choice of added ez pass was not offered she just gave me the most expensive one. After the initial rental I was expected to pay $52 ended up with a $169 receipt that I couldn't understand. I wasn't the only customer with an issue that day as so many were having trouble getting the car they actually rented, being charged for or waiting extremely long for a car. Next rental I'm sticking with LGA!. Only upside was drop off was a breeze.

Terrible service, never ever again. Car is not ready and my family including 1 year old kid been waiting for more than an hour. They charged me 435$ at the counter and after told me that they don’t have available cars.

They lied to my father who doesn’t speak English fluently to upsell him. Absolutely useless over the phone, pay extra and go somewhere better.

We booked a rental car for a week with Thrifty at JFK in New York. Everything worked out great and quickly! The employee Wanda was very friendly and even upgraded us to a larger car.

Worst experience ever. I booked through Priceline the car was reserve and booked. When I arrived to the counter the lady there stated the car I booked wasn’t available and they only had SUV’s for an extra $25 per day. Even though they already had taken the money out of my credit card. Their representative told me if I wanted my money back I have to contact Priceline which I did, the Priceline representative told me since they already transfer the money to Thrifty rent a Car they needed at least a verbal confirmation from their representative to reimburse my money back. I was in the rental company lobby while I was with Priceline so I went back to the counter and the lady was nowhere to be found. While this was happening another Thrifty customer showed up and he started asking for a representative at the counter but nobody to be found. This location was at the JFK airport honestly very poor customer service I was waiting for someone for at least 5 minutes if not more. Tired of waiting for somebody to come back to the counter I ask the Priceline representative to contact them for me, which she did and 15 minutes later she able to get back at me with a confirmation of cancelation. I asked the Priceline representative why this has happened and she told me that Thrifty confirmed they had a car at the time of the reservation but if they have walk ins they will give your car to the walk ins instead of honoring their online reservations. And obviously this means they will try to upsell you to another car for an extra fee. I don’t see the point of giving you a confirmation if they are not going to hold the car you reserved. As I went through the reviews I see this is a common thing with them.

Made a car rental reservation days in advance AND THEY DIDN’T HAVE A CAR AVAILABLE AT THE TIME ON THE RES. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE IT WILL NOT GET YOU A CAR.

I was suppose to rent a car here for a few days got there and they had no cars available that matched what I reserved. The first car they gave me stunk of smoke. The 2nd car was too big for me and I couldn’t climb in or fix it to have my baby’s car seat and the last car was a re turn that someone else complained about a door not working and it couldn’t even hold a baby stroller. I asked to cancel and was told I had to wait to cancel and I was met with a nasty attitude from the women at the counter. They claimed it was canceled but now I’m being charged on my card for a car I never got to drive off in. Don’t go here!!! You are better off at Sixt

employee was extremely rude. Had an awful attitude. Was no one in line, and still Was forced to pay more money to not have to wait anymore. Hd a pick up time for 3, arrived at 325 and was told the car wouldn’t be ready but we could pay more to upgrade. Was charged for 2 days for a 24 hour rental. I would never use this service again. Didn’t get my 3pm pickup until 4, and was still told i had to return it at 3pm the next day for a 24 hour rental.

The ladies working behind the counter were extremely rude. I felt like I was in a comedic film about how rude New Yorkers are.
Also, they are unfamiliar with their own company's policies regarding how charged an electric car must be when you return it.
On the positive side, I do not have to spend any time waiting in line.
