Very convenient store. Although the owners (I think the cashiers) do not respond to the greeting or say thank you or anything when you are paying. 0% kindness and courtesy

This store is convenient and not much else. I moves to this neighborhood about three years ago, and this was the first store that I saw and it looked awesome but when I walked in there, they treat you like a criminal. I had a bag on me, but it was small and couldn’t really hold anything. They wanted me to leave it at the register meanwhile, other women were walking around with their bags. They definitely racially profiled me and treated me like a criminal.

Went with my sister to shop on a thursday afternoon. Spent about 20 minutes in the store and passed by 2 employees without a problem. Then we get chased down by an employee and he explains that my sister needs to leave her PERSONAL bag (with her phone and wallet) at the front desk where customers can easily grab and take from the store. I’m from here and am not a stranger to leaving bags at the front of stores but I have NEVER left my personal bag with them, only bags from other stores. Very disappointed with the customer service because the place has so many cute things. Will not return.

I came to this 99cent store since it was the only one open in the morning and I needed to get ballon’s for my son’s birthday to take it to school with his goodies. Every year I usually go to any other 99 cent store on Myrtle and I buy their balloons on top of balloons I bought in the internet. My son had me buy lanky box balloons which isn’t a cartoon on any balloons in nyc. He’s obsessed with this YouTuber and we were able to find it on Amazon. Anyways I went into the store told them I’ll buy 2 balloons from them and on top of that if they can do me the favor and blow up the 2 personal balloons I brought with me. They gave me run arounds and all they said was no no no you have to buy our balloons here. I kept telling them I’ll pay for the use of the helium with no problem. They kept fighting me with it and I mentioned to them every other 99 cent let’s me with no problem so i left. By the time I left i was able to go to “New Focus Plaza Inc. & 99¢ Up” down the block and they were so lovely. Do not go to this 99 can’t store.” New Focus Plaza Inc. & 99¢ Up” owner told me many people come from over there and complains about this 99 cent store. Save your time and money.

Yesterday Wednesday 02/14/2024 at about 1:50 PM I bought a Tetra fish for $4.99 plus tax, by the time I got home the fish Belly up meaning either it was sick or just plainly died, I brought it back this morning and explained to a Oriental Older looking lady and she asked me for a receipt, unfortunately I paid cash, (I previously bought Tetras fish before from this store with no issues), but the fish they sold me apparently was either sick or was to old.Either way the lady then refuse to take it back and exchange it for another only fish that she had sitting in the counter, she was a little rude.So I left the dead fish in the original container that I bought it with, most likely she will throw it away and resell the container as for a refund I will take the 4.99 plus tax loss but I will no longer do business here, and MAKE SURE if you shop there YOU Asked THEM FOR A RECEIPT, and DON'T BUY THEIR SICK FISH. ? Also the place is overprice.

I live in the neighborhood and I’ve shopped at this store quite a bit. I experienced racial profiling there once by one the guys that worked there and was told to leave my bag, which in fact was my PURSE at the counter. I told them that I wasn’t going to do this because there were multiple women in sight that were shopping with their bags/purses with them. The people with their bags happen to all be white/white passing so I realized that they were racist towards me even though I had shopped there a number of times in the past. Today it happened to me again! I honestly should not have returned to that store after the first time they treated me like this. I will NEVER support this business again. Disgusting people work there that will speak to you in a RUDE manner and they are incredibly RACIST. Do not shop here if you are a person of color or if you’re against discrimination.
