I knew I wanted to send my kiddos to EVC before I was even pregnant with my oldest! This is their 4th summer and it is the best part of their year. They’ve made incredible friends, the staff is awesome, and we were made aware of difficult situations at various times during their camp experience. Years ago one friend came out as NB, in addition to supporting that kiddo as they came out to their bunk, they also had a special tent night with their closest friends to bond and connect after coming out. I get a call every year after camp is over to check in about my child’s experience, it’s always a pleasure to hear how the summer went from the adult perspective. This year my kiddo is studying for their b’mitz along with other friends, they were upset at first but it seems to be going well. Every letter (or email) home is about how much they love EVC. We live MANY states away and it’s not easy to manage them going to camp but we make it happen because it is the most important, loving, and supportive environment in my child’s life and has been since year one. I wish I could give EVC a million stars!!
The negative parent reviews from 9-10 years ago is from when the camp was brand new, they’ve continued to learn and grow as an institution, take feedback seriously, and want to hear constructive suggestions that will support the whole EVC community (campers, staff, parents).
Their policies are clearly laid out, they host MULTIPLE webinars before camp to answer any questions, and are very responsive to parents concerns and give kiddos a place to learn and grow as humans.

I grew up at camp b/c my parents worked during the summer. I know a lot of Jewish camps, and I have been to and seen several. Hands down, EVC takes all the best elements of Jewish camping and tops whatever else anyone else is doing. Superlatives fail to capture the truly magical experience. Kinda puts faith back in humanity. A utopian model of collective, ecopositive, spiritual growth seamlessly pulled off without preaching. Walking the walk & talking the talk.....no one does it better, and kids never had it this mind-blowingly amazing before EVC came into being.

I love this camp so much, I have met so many good friends and I have done so many fun activities here. All of the staff are very welcoming and loving. The only thing is that the food is repetitive every week and if you go for multiple years, you will see that they do the some of the same activities. This is not a request to change it, I’m just telling possible future campers that this happens. This does not make the camp boring in anyway, the staff still comes up with very very fun ways for you to have a good time with everyone and to bond with people. I will forever love this camp and all it’s staff thanks you soo much❤️❤️❤️omg ok- so i work at the camp now:) as a counselor three years later, and i can definitely say that i still love this camp, but now that i am staff and have seen the otherside, i will say, this camp is VERY geared towards the children. it makes it awesome for the kids! which is great! that's the goal! but they don't balance that with the staff. especially as a junior staff or maintenance or kitchen staff, the camp is very bad with regulating mental health and just how challenging and heavy some of the jobs are here. i understand that the office focalizers do have a lot of work and do a lot in person with the camp and they do so much to make this camp run and i appreciate it so much! just sometimes i feel like there is a lack of understanding on their part of just how much we go through from working under them. most of the office staff has previously been a counselor at EVC but it was under a different director and different office staff. so i 100% recommend to send your kids here, its amazing for most kids, but if you are looking to work here, just a warning that it can get very stressful and hard sometimes :)

My son had a wonderful first experience of sleepaway camp at Eden Village. The staff seem very loving, nurturing and attentive, there's great quality food and lots of fun and special activities. A very down to earth place where it seems kids can really grow and thrive! The communication with the parents was excellent and all the staff I interacted with were very helpful and friendly.

Terrible experience. I worked as a dishwasher for the camp for two months. The experience was terrible, I got overworked everyday. They also don't treat mexicans as good as the American staff. The management doesn't care if there are any problems within the staff. For example i got harassed the whole camp season (3 months) by another staff. He stalked me and was trying to trick me into being alone with him in the middle of the forest...I really wouldn't recommend working for this camp.

This has to be one of the most welcoming environments I have ever had the privilege to be a part of. All the staff, and especially the leadership are always making sure to look out for everyone and make sure that all the campers feel safe and welcome.

This is the summer camp that made my daughter hate summer camps. She had a miserable time, sent regular letters home saying she wanted to go home, but when we called they said she was ok. We've since met other kids who have gone and had similar horrible experiences.
