My wife had an appointment for Angiogram (Cardiac Catheterization) on August 8th, 2023 at 8:30am. They took my wife for the procedure around 9:00am. They kept her there until 12:30pm but they weren't able to complete the procedure. My wife fell in sick. Because she was so hungry for a long time. It was seems to us they wouldn't to do the procedure until evening. So I decided to leave without procedure. LPN were helping her were so booring, she looked upset by herself. Overall service was woeful, booring and hateful. We will never go to Vassar brothers hospital again.

Waited a very patient 12 hours all I did was ask the patient coordinator if I had a room ready about two time within that time frame and they told me there were no rooms Available I seen countless people go to a room before me that I knew I came before them and as soon as I was ready to walk out I went to talk to the patient coordinator but they weren’t there so I went to the front in take desk and they told me to talk to a nurse to see if the was a room. And when I did they told me they been waiting on a sample that I had provided already but it never made to to the lab . So that wanted me to provide another and that I had to wait another 2 hours mind you Im a couple of weeks pregnant and they had me sitting the for 12 hours

I would not recommend the Vassar Bros. Emergency Room. I have been sitting in the waiting room for 16 hours. A doctor came to the lobby and said that my infection looked like it was spreading and that I need to have IV antibiotics. That was 14 hours ago and no one has said a word to me since. (I'm writing this at 5:45 AM and I am still in the waiting room. I arrived at 2:30 PM yesterday.)This isn't the first time I have received poor care at Vassar Bros. I visited the ER in 2021 and was there for more than 24 hours before I was told that they didn't have a physician available to treat me and that they had already used their two (2) telehealth visits that they are allowed each day. They discharged me without providing any care.It is really a sad situation because Vassar used to provide really great care. A reoccurring condition in the summer of 2020 had me in the ER 7 times in 30 days and each time I received excellent care. However, since they moved into their new facility the care has been atrocious. I used to sing their praise and would recommend Vassar to anyone I knew that needed care. I will not be recommending people come to Vassar any longer. Please save yourself the time and frustration and choose another hospital.

Waited 7 hours to be seen for cellulitis from a cat bite. Unsatisfied, I went to Westchester hospital where they admitted me to a room upstairs immediately and started IV antibiotics. Maybe Poughkeepsie is under staffed or not as knowledgeable about animal bites but I almost got sepsis because of Poughkeepsie not taking the proper precautions. They also had a 90 year old woman waiting for 9 hours after she collapsed at church that same morning. Either hire more staff or shape up. Goodness gracious.

After arriving together in one car behind the ambulance, my husband, myself and son, waited for my 81 year old mom to be seen in the lobby from 9pm until 6:00am to be seen and treated. My mom fell and had a serious head injury and broken nose. We had to ask for bandages to stop her bleeding and medically treat her ourselves. We also had to DEMAND an X-ray be done on her nose which was CLEARLY BROKEN. However, this wasn’t even the worst part of our long ordeal. The Security Guard , Chris Myers after 8 hours of us sitting their tending to my mom, decided it was time to enforce what apparently is their policy- 2 visitors per patient. WHY, wasn’t this told to us when we walked in the door and WHY after 8 hours would you HARASS US and the entire lobby of patients suffering???He told us one of it had to leave.I asked why weren’t we told that when we got there at 9pm? We had one vehicle and now it’s early morning the following day and your coming to us with your policy and threatening us with a phone call to the police???? This guy raised his voice and made the entire emotional and physical experience even worse. I understand policy, but I also understand policy can be broken under circumstances. Again, the if it’s POLICIY why don’t you enforce that policy when we walked through the door???This guy should be fired!!!!! I’ve never in my entire professional career ever experienced such an incompetent employee. Way to go Nuvance Security! We will NEVER , EVER go back to Vassar Brothers. Since Nuvance took over it’s all be down hill. Please , fire this guy or I will share the video I took of him hassassing us on every single social media platform.

Personally there is too much to write about my most recent Check in the mid-morning AM on Fathers Day at the Emergency Department ,went threw security first from there to the receptionist , she asked the problem , from there checks you in (100%bet receptionist is a nurse ). The Emergency Care Team ( which many positions WORKING AS A TEAM ) with me a Team of Experienced Nurse and Doctors all work together to diagnose Me they rotated handling me and multiple patients at one time I wish new their names but i was seen by 3 Doctors -3 nurses-1-cna-2 Lab techs .Yes the Nuvance Health-VB Emergency Department Team ROCKS not just the Doctors and Nurses RN's but the Lab techs and CNA's do to. Did not Know about the brand new building ,waiting room with multiple big screen tv's soft chairs everything. If you ever want top care (Emergency especially) my recommendation , new , clean ,experienced , polite , new big screen tv's.

Not one to make time to leave reviews but this was an experience that might help others decide on an ER go to.Came here after a mountain biking accident and had to get stitches on my arm. Dr. Shahrukh Sayed (sorry if i misspelled) in ER took such good care of my wound! His bedside manner is very genuine and upbeat. Def made me feel comfortable while getting stitches. Also, this hospital is incredibly well kept. Staff are extremely kind and very attentive.Hoping never to return to a hospital again but if I did, I would go back to Vassar.

The ER is terrible just awful - go somewhere else if you are suffering no question. It’s over 10+ hour wait. No joke. Go somewhere else to find help. And they’re are no beds…a place that just built a super add on has no beds available. Just terrible. The staff “tried” even-though they are super understaffed. Is this a vassar thing trying to save money, is it that there are no nurses to fill those jobs or both? The staff were mostly respectful, and some were doing their best while others just were a machine and really didn’t care. You could tell they were doing double shifts, seen 100s of patients and just lost their empathy towards others even though that’s what a nurses job is supposed to be. No one in the waiting room could give any time line or any information. I was there for 10 hours and there was one woman who was there longer than me and still was not helped and asked to wait.I am disappointed. It’s not what it used to be.In summary; the staff were trying, they should keep in mind that behind every person hurting there is a soul looking for help; even lo your working a double or on 1 hour of sleep. I cant imagine what that is like but I’ve been on the receiving end and all we want is …a kind word of help.Secondly;. Vassar needs to step up and start caring about their patients because at this rate.Everyone around will go somewhere else.

It’s absolutely negligent how understaffed this hospital is. It’s not healthy for the patients OR the existing staff. Hire back the nurses that you fired for not getting the vaccine. Just make them wear masks if need be like you use to with the flu shot. We need those nurses back. Not feeding a cancer patient for over 2 days is not acceptable. Sending a patient to specialized nursing care for the purposes of tube feeding…but then NOT sending the appropriate documents to the nursing home instructing them to tube feed the said cancer patient is absurd. This patient didn’t eat for over 2 days. Now the patient is back in Vassar and the kitchen hasn’t been sending the patient their ensure for another couple of days despite making multiple reports about this to staff. It comes down to the fact that this hospital is in severe need for more nurses. It’s immoral to not hire back the nurses you fired over the vaccine. They’re already trained and ready to go. And when the hospital is understaffed severely, how can any seasoned nurses supervise and train any of the new nurses. The nurses aren’t being allowed to provide the patient centered care that they were trained to give. Let’s not even start talking about the inevitable burnout that is going to happen which will cause us to lose more nurses. You need to hire more staff. IT SHOULDN’T TAKE LAW SUITS TO MAKE THESE CHANGES HAPPEN. Please don’t wait for lawsuits to flood in before addressing these issues.

Where should I begin, this has got to be the worst place to come to when not feeling well for any reason. My mother came in at 5:30 on a Wednesday and finally got admitted Thursday afternoon, that was a 12 hour wait. Then ended up needing surgery Friday & again Saturday. She was then discharged on Monday to only return the next morning by ambulance for her blood pressure being very high after they said they had it under control then discharged her again Wednesday at 5pm to only have to call the ambulance again Wednesday evening around 9:30 pm because her blood pressure was still very high and she gets to the hospital for them to sit her in the waiting room. I asked them to give her something for the pain and vomiting 3 1/2 hours later still NO meds for the pain or to hydration her as we sit here waiting to be seen wondering when she will even be seen and admitted. They spent all this money on the place to have no staff or care for their patients.

My experience in the ER was a disaster.Waited 8 hours to get sutures and and on dialysis which I told the nurses. I called administration and made a complaint and how quickly in 10 minutes I was taken in. Also the security guard was very nasty and rude. I wouldn’t send my enemy there. Disgusting. They are understaffed. I will never go back there again.

Ps: There are many homeless people that are allowed to sleep overnight in the ER. Some are addicts and behave with belligerence when asked to leave. - How does this create a clean and safe waiting room for sick patients? - Most definitely, this hospital should be under inspection. If Vassar wants to help the homeless, then dedicate another area for this purpose. They are exposing sick patients to all sorts of infections and dangerous behaviors.Ps: I waited 15 hours in the waiting room. Unacceptable. Find another hospital.

My mom had the unfortunate experience of spending approximately twenty two (22) hours in their Emergency Room this week. How is this acceptable from a patient care/experience standpoint? Were there *that* many boarders for a Monday night in Poughkeepsie? I spent over thirteen years working in an acute care facility that, in a busy year, would see sixty thousand ER patients a year. Never once did I go home & come back the next morning to see the same patients still waiting to be triaged/discharged. I will be following up in more detail offline with Dr John Murphy, President Susan Browning, and at least one (1) Board Member. The world is short staffed right now, but I mean, I need a ruling on this. Someone is owed more than an apology here. This level of care is something I would expect to see in an underdeveloped nation. Looks like this whole Nuvance experiment hasn't worked too well so far.I'm guessing Vassar's Leapfrog scores are probably indicative of this, too.

I recently had a baby at the Maternity Unit at VBMC. While the l&d experience was great, this review is specifically for the lactation consultant named Cindy. After a very tough birth experience, the lactation consultant shamed me into giving consent to feed her formula in the nursery the first night after birth. I was in dire need of recovery (I lost half of my blood) and sleep after the birth and I couldn't safely hold my newborn or breastfeed her. This was mine and my husband's decision. But after telling the LC this, she said "no, never say yes to formula" as one of our first interactions. It haunted me for a couple weeks as a first time mom who is just trying to survive and do the best for my child. I didn't say anything at the moment because I was desperate for help on breastfeeding, but my gut told me this isn't the treatment I should be receiving at the hospital.

I know the ER was very busy yesterday. A wait time from getting there to leaving of 12 hours was simply irresponsible. The 12 hour wait time seemed to be the norm of the day. In addition, the people who needed to be admitted were told no beds were available. The building may be brand new, but the service is worse. We were told they are very busy and that wait time was normal.
