I like TJ Maxx but I'm often disappointed with the newer Poughkeepsie store because it's too small and doesn't have enough clothes. I love Home Goods which is attached and Marshalls a few doors down.

Lily, the home goods shift manager was extremely rude to me and my fiancé. We came in trying to return an item we purchased a few weeks ago for store credit because we could not find the receipt. The clerk called over the home goods manager, lily and they walked over to the side and had a discussion. The clerk came back over and told us we would not be getting the full amount for the return. We would only receive a portion of it. Obviously we were confused and asked why we wouldn’t get the full amount in store credit. We asked the clerk if she could explain why and she called the manager back over. The manager lily, extremely rude and short, told us that we could only return it for a discounted amount because it was reduced in their system. We purchased the item a few weeks prior so this was a bit confusing. When asking why that was, she exclaimed loudly and rudely, “Why would I lie to you? I have no reason to lie to you?” Trying to make a scene infront of the other employees and managers on shift. We simply asked to see if it was reduced on their scanner because when it was scanned into the register from the tag, it was the full amount we purchased it for not the reduced price. We’ve returned items in the past without the receipt for store credit and never had a hard time before. They just scanned it back in, scanned our ID and sent us on our way. I’m not sure if it’s just because the clerk was new or something but regardless, the manager lily was extremely rude and should not be working in any place with customer service. The Tjmaxx manager on the other hand who talked to us afterward was extremely nice and polite. Even though he couldn’t do anything for us he apologized for her rudeness and attitude. There would not have been a problem if she wasn’t so nasty and rude to us, just explaining that the system reduced the item over time politely would have been the end of that conversation and return without a problem. However, as a customer who comes often it’s disappointing knowing this is one of the shift managers of the “home goods” side of the store. She obviously doesn’t have a ounce of customer service in her veins. She should shadow and take notes from the TJmaxx manager on how to actually speak to a customer @ GM.

Very nice store!! Employees are nice, however I came to make an exchange on 1 item I purchased 2 days ago, literally the same item just in a different size, I had my receipt but had taken off the tag of the item. The cashier that assisted me was not understanding or was simply trying to be a jerk about it. The cashier next to her told her “if the item matches on the receipt just process it, is the same item. You too long into the game, come on Romena”. But she kept asking me if I have the tag….. ??♀️?

Waited over 30 min for someone to come assist me in the jewelry section. Ended up putting down the items I had in my hand and walking out. Wasted my time.

LOVE this store!! Already told my kids when I die they can just spread my ashes at TJMAXX, as it's the closest thing to heaven.

Crazy busy place. But cashiers were quick with checking people out. Not a lot of food options like other TJ Maxx's I've been to. Great selection of candles.

So today I went to tjmaxx. I go there maybe 3 times a year and went there twice this week. Because of racism and theft conspiracies. The manager of the store locks the carts before you leave. Now. I went to the parking lot with the cart many times and today was different. An employee told me it's on the door. The door read "cart will lock if taken beyond the parking lot" which mean not in BEYOND. This store is going down hill and scared people are stealing when they aren't. Super disgusting. Not shopping there again

Went in on Monday 7/10 with an agenda to find a new bathroom soap pump to replace my broken one. I found the perfect dispenser that was the only one of its kind for a fair price compared to the others in stock and when in the checkout line the power went out and the staff had everyone evacuate the building. During the process they asked each customer if they wanted to place their items on hold to pick up later in the night or the next day, which I did because I really had my eye set on it and even offered to pay cash up front to leave with it but unfortunately they couldn’t. I came back today and once I made it to the register the cashier couldn’t find my soap dispenser, I gave her my name and even showed her a photo of it that I took just in case. Unfortunately they could not find it as they searched through the couple of carts piled up my the TJMAXX entrance filled with items on hold, the cashier who was kind to help me went back and fourth with 2 completely different ones trying to assist me as well. When I asked if there was the chance I could pick a new one out for the same price as the one that got lost the neighboring cashier was very rude and said they couldn’t help me any further. I’m in complete understanding when a sudden power outage happens it’s panic but to use that as the only excuse on why they couldn’t find the item that had a tag with my name on it for pickup is disappointing. To not be helped for a mistake and disorganization on the staffs part but rather talked to in such a manner that put a higher annoyance that I already had after losing out on such a perfect item and not getting a chance to speak and cut off by the neighboring cashier was a very disappointing and upsetting experience. Not to mention the entirety of everyone who helped the cashier I was with, looked confused and didn’t know how to handle this type of situation. I’m beyond disappointed and annoyed on how today was handled, but I hope in the future for any instance like this no one has to experience such a rude and unhelpful cashier
