Doing good in a neighborhood that needs it. Easy to donate: just place your donations in the bins at the front of the store. TIP: Parking only on the street. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy, try to park as close as possible.

I have really been into throfting and i had to stop by here since im never in this area. I went in, and noticed that it wasn't as big as other places but this seemed fine as it was on the edge of a small town. The prices for this place was also very good on the low end. The place was very clean and the cashier was very helpful. He was helping people carry in the donation bags they had, was chatting away with friendly customers and making sure the place was clean. If you are around do stop by as there is always something for everyone. 5/5

As far as their store on main street Poughkeepsie NY They are amazing hard workers, very cordial, and so helpful even on the phone. Unlike any Good Will which is always an ordeal. The Salvation Army store a little out of the way for me but I have no problem going OUT of my way to benefit people in my own community. If you need a write off slip they're more than willing to give you one. Happy Happy Wayne The Painter

Went to the Salvation Army's NEW location on 1404 Route 9, Wappingers Falls, and found their store IMMACULATE, with friendly service and great prices. A girlfriend of mine and I bought clothing for a very large sized girlfriend of ours, and we (and she!) were very impressed with the large choices and great quality. We are now fans of BOTH locations!

For a "thrift store" I find this place slightly over priced. I know they give jobs to people who might be otherwise unemployed so it's for a good cause but the Goodwill in Wappingers is priced better. Also some of the aisle are very narrow and hard to get through.

This review is for pick up service... The "glowing" reviews on both yelp and google are from plants and not real. We've used Catholic charities for pick up's in the past with no issue. Salvation Army was a total mistake to try this time. Set an appointment online for pickup. Then went through rounds of phone calls with them. Dealing with non-existent extensions and wrong phone numbers. They finally arrive for pick-up on the day prescribed and they are an hour early. While that might be ok for some people. I work from home and had 15 mins until I needed to be in a meeting. The driver exclaimed "what did you do to it!!" In reference to scratches which were on the portion of the hutch which sits UNDER the heavy glass upper portion of the cabinet. An area which isn't visible AT ALL when assembled. It's a china cabinet. In two prices. This is totally common due to the weight of the piece. They then wasted then next 13 minutes of my life looking for a reason to not pick the piece up and put it in the truck. They finally decided the cord attached to the hutch was a "safety concern". Lucky for me I was able to run back upstairs just in time for my meeting. I'm at a loss for words. Back to Catholic Charities for us!

It pains me so much to say it, but this Salvation Army is quite the disappointment. Sure, it has the dank musty odor and the usual unwanted trash that we love so much about Salvation Army's, but the problem is there's just not enough of it. This place is tiny and its not even filled up as much as it could be. So much wasted space. The men and women's clothing is slim pickings, there's maybe a handful of pieces of old, crappy furniture and the shelves of the housewares section look like the night before a major snowstorm and everybody rushed out to buy gross old ashtrays and chipped coffee mugs instead of milk and bread. Why? Fill this place up with more crap, will ya? I will say that one time I found this weird, ugly geometric hologram painting that's been hanging in my apartment for quite a few years now, so I do check in here every now and then for similar treasures. But tbh, I'll usually just go to the Goodwill in Wappinger. Sure, they've got little baby suburban hipsters plundering the place for all the good coffee mugs and records and their LaserDiscs are way overpriced. But at least they HAVE all the Death Wish movies on LaserDisc if you want them. Do I want them? Hell yes. Do I have a LaserDisc player? No.

The driver from Poughkeepsie picking up my donations was overly picky and rejected perfectly good merchandise. Example: he rejected an office file cabinet credenza (he said because it was a "desk" and unsellable), which the very next day a realtor bought from me for $100! Unsellable? She wanted it as soon as she saw it. I believe a lot of it was because he simply did not have room on the truck. He and Salvation Army dispatch knew well in advance that mine was by far the largest donation of the day and they knew in exact detail the size - and nature - of it. Nevertheless the driver made me the very last pickup of the day (at 4 PM, outside the stated window of 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM). Room was lacking for a large donation by then. Dispatch told me previously that I should be the FIRST of the day, to have room for my donation. So perfectly sellable items like the credenza (which did in fact sell) were rejected. This situation kept me waiting all day, preventing me from doing paying work because I had to be available all day at any moment. And waiting beyond the stated and required pickup window - completely without notice that this would be happening. This was after a month wait for a pickup in the first place. The Salvation Army had NO respect for me as a donor nor my time. They also wasted a tremendous amount of my time by telling me that they would possibly take whole categories of items that it turned out they never would even consider taking. They also specified that they be boxed, wasting quite a few hours of my time preparing for the pickup. There also seems to be a total disconnect between management, the drivers, and the people who answer the telephone as to what types of things the Salvation Army accepts as donations. The driver himself told me of the frequent complaints he gets from donors because of the vast difference between what donors are told on the telephone and what the drivers are told to accept. This is a completely optional, fixable and unnecessary situation. What values does it reflect? Many completely usable items of furniture in good condition are now going to the dump - I am out of time to do anything else. Too bad. Very sad. And for me - never again. Never again will I donate to this organization. I cannot bear the consequences of trying to do a nice thing.
