Front Desk Clerks are the best. Kristina was so helpful and informative my last visit. Rooms are clean, stylish, comfortable with amenities. Continental breakfast is adequate and satisfying for me. Always a pleasant stay.

This is best place to stay in Potsdam. The decor was elegant in its day. Beds are hard. Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is good. Building maintenance could do a better job. It's the little details that make or break a business. Stay in a room on the river side.

Lovely small hotel, very pretty and great location downtown with restaurants and shops in walking distance. Views of the river. We walked over to nearby Ives Park and enjoyed a small jazz concert. Staff was friendly and helpful and the free breakfast was good.

Our stay at The Clarkson Inn was exceptional. We were traveling late and checking in around the 3 am hour. I called several times ensure someone would be there to check us in. There was always someone available, pleasant and reassuring on the phone. When we arrived we were greeted so warmly and offered a later check-out.
The rooms were Nostalgic with antique decorum. I truly appreciated the crisp white duvet covers over traditional printed blankets, the bedding was very comfortable.
Now, breakfast was my favorite! The waffle maker was superb, fresh juice, nicely seasoned eggs and much more. The Clarkson Inn is a great alternative to franchise hotels. I loved the personable experience!

Kassia at the front desk was an absolute gem. We were stressed upon arrival after driving through flash flooding, and she calmly helped us with everything we needed. Otherwise, the location is ideal. And the hotel is a little dated but kept up well. Thanks, Kassia!

The Inn is nice. Cool old style set up and theme. Breakfast was okay, they boast fresh fruit but there was not even an apple or a banana in sight. Waffles, eggs, sausage were good. Coffee was also good. The showers are okay. Location was great for a college visit and the downtown was cute.
Rooms: Big with an old time feel.
Nearby activities: Hiking, river activities, 4 colleges, and lots of outdoor activities.
Safety: This is a typical small college town. Very quiet in the summer.
Walkability: Center of town easy to walk to everything, food, drinks, or entertainment.

The hotel is in a beautiful location but has seen much better days and it would really require significant investment to make it a more pleasant stay. The room on the first floor smelled musty and like old cigarettes. The beds were old and the mattresses ancient with springs palpable. There was mold in the bathroom. The breakfast is nothing like the photos - no fruit, no yogurt, very sad looking. The TV did not work. One of the chairs was so old that the middle collapsed, like an antique that should probably not be used for sitting. The location is really the best part of the hotel but it needs significant investment to make it worth the price tag.

Very nice and in the center of everything Potsdam. The staff were absolutely the nicest! However some of the furnishings are getting long in the tooth.

Staff was very welcoming friendly and useful to info about area.

Nearby activities: Everything you need is walkable in a very cool nostalgic town
Safety: No issues
Walkability: Plenty to do
Food and drinks: 3-4 restaurants and bars

First trip to Potsdam, and The Clarkson, definitely made the trip. Spent three nights with zero issues. Breakfast was good, place was quiet. And good parking. The evening desk attendant was amazing. We will definitely stay at the Clarkson again if we can!

The room was clean and comfortable and the inn itself was lovely. Kassia and Matthew provided excellent customer service. I left some belongings there and when "ILEFTMYSTUFF" had a technical issue they personally mailed my belongings back and stayed in touch with me the entire time.
